I dunno, I just thought a Cave Story OVA was a neat idea, since I was replaying it recently...just thought I'd see what anyone else thought, and no one cares.....
Well pouting is immature so I'll stop there and get back to binging FMA...
I think it would be a good idea, hell even the nes game twinbee had a anime so something good like cave story should have a ova, but it costs money and stuff so it would be a no go unless it was at high demand.
@undead_terror
Never said it was feasible, I just said it would be nice. I mean it has a lengthy story for a one man indie game, and a good one at that. I think it could be easily translated into a 3-7 episode OVA, maybe longer or shorter.

I dunno, I thought Cave Story's atmosphere and gameplay was better than its story. I don't see them making anything special out of a Cave Story OVA. Especially since people expect a lot out of OVAs today. They practically have full series budgets these days. Even ONAs that aren't shorts can have extremely high standards...
I thought I would just post this vid just to show what Twinbee is like since I was talking about it.... I would say im not amused but I never watched the vid that I just posted.
I watched the final part of Mad Bull 34 tonight on YouTube!
The corny fanservice & gore continue. The concept of this final part even got in on the zaniness, as instead of the general crooked cops, drug smugglers, and crime syndicates found within the first 3 parts, this one featured a comic book style super villain as the antagonist (and it was a riff on the Predator as well, lol).
Mad Bull even used a mech at one point, to try and combat them, lol.

...because it would be difficult to make a story about a platformer whose plot can be summed up in a few paragraphs (unless it was just one episode or they added a who lot of stuff), and that they'd have difficulty conveying the atmosphere and action of the game.
I'll have to agree with @Canis & @Fonist on their sentiments about a Cave Story OVA.
The sprite based look provided lots of the game's charm, and I'm not sure how they'd convey that in anime form (I could almost see it getting a similar reaction to Cave Story 3D, the retail release, where many fans said it lost most of it's charm).
As for the story, it's great for an indie game, but they'd probably have to spread things out to make it a decent length, which would either mean a slower pace (which wouldn't be fitting of the property), or filler content (which could be a gamble, quality wise).
They did make OVAs of older games, like TwinBee as stated, but those games had little to no plot, meaning there wasn't as much of a risk to ruin an established story.
