You hate Bleach that much? I''m only 7 episodes in and I quite like it.
Bleach started out really good, but quickly fell into a weird kind of contrived mess; I'm following the current chapters, but they never seem to excite me in any way. It kind of makes me sad the direction it went in, but hey, others like it.
Toriko and Bakuman on the other hand are excellent, and I'm glad to see them doing well despite how "popular" Bleach seems over here.

Your opinion, then again, I haven't seen much at all yet. But I think I'll check out the ones you mentioned.
Anime watching: Mobile Suit Gundam, Lupin III, & Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Diamond is Unbreakable
Reading: The Golden Compass

Checked out those series of ANN, and Bakuman sounds very interesting to me, and I loved Ohbta's previous work, Death Note, so I'll check it out. The other...doesn't interest me at all really.

Yeah, Bleach just kept getting worse after the Soul Society Arc (and I honestly found the Soul Society Arc boring, though the pay-off made it worth it in the end). I did enjoy it at first, but I highly recommend stopping after episode 62.

Good to see there's another fan of Toriko here. Just started reading it last week.
^Well isn't filler technically non-canon as later arcs based on the manga won't reference the filler?
In episodes 225-228, there is a part where a very important figure is introduced like it was in the manga, even though it was supposed to have been introduced earlier like the manga did, but for the sake of not catching up with the manga, it changed the confrontation for later.
Backloggery. Now playing: 3D Dot Game Heroes, Donkey Kong, EarthBound Beginnings, Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams, and Pac-Man Championship Edition DX+.
^ I just dunno if I'll be able to stop. I think I'll just skip the filler.
It's not the filler that's the problem. It's when the filler becomes better than the actual canon that it becomes a problem.
I don't recall that ever happening. Sure, the whole Arrancar Arc is weaker (and more drawn out) than the previous two canon arcs (the Substitute & Soul Society arcs), but even it was better than any of the filler (story wise, I felt like the Bount arc was the weakest filler arc, as they didn't seem to fit the series' theme. The New Captain & Zanpakuto Rebellion filler arcs were better, but were very lazily implemented into the story).
The only canon arc I'd say the filler is close to matching, is the Fullbring arc, but it didn't last that long, and the 1000 Year Blood War arc is the best the series has been since the Soul Society arc (kinda sad the anime won't cover it).
All IMO, of course.
