Yeah, in my experience, it's best to stick with the professionals. One Piece has some decent fansubs, but I'm really looking forward to the day when I rewatch this show on DVD.
I think I finally understand the origins of my frustration with the Sword Art Online anime:
For those that can't watch the video, let me give you the brief summary; Reki Kawahara, author of the Sword Art Online light novels, mentions that he simply didn't hugely care about the world of SAO when he was writing it. On the other hand, Tomohiko Ito, director of the SAO anime, apparently did care about the world (or at least the presentation of it) and Kawahara was impressed by that while watching the SAO anime. So yeah; a boring story and kinda cliche premise (provided by Kawahara) was mixed with a well-defined and alluring world (provided by Ito).

Nah, it's just that Death Note doesn't intrest me that much.
To be honest I have to agree with you. Not much of a Deathnote fan either. Interesting plot not as good as Liar Game in my opinion. Akiyama is much more genuine than Light
I gotta watch the anime of Toriko someday. The manga chapter I read last night was really cooky and over the top, and I think seeing it in motion would really help excentuate that.
