@Rocko52
I highly recommend it, it's not only action-packed but it's heart touching too.
With the best Opening and Closing songs EVER.

Sorry to sound like that, I just continue to be amazed by Death Note. I'm fine if you don't like it, I just find it amazing.
I liked Death Note, don't get me wrong. It's not like Psychological Thriller is a higher form of Thriller, rather, it's just a thriller with a lot of confusing bullcrap. I was mearly correcting you.
I do feel Death Note is overrated, in the sense that it's one of the top anime thrillers out there, when I feel there are plenty of anime out there that deserve more praise. People tend to see it as cerebral, and it is, but not as much as, say, Legend of The Galactic Heroes. Not the best comparison, I'm sure, but I don't watch enough thriller anime to really compare it to.
I still enjoyed it, of course, especially the cat 'n' mouse game between the two main characters. Though I'll admit, once a certain someone died, I was about ready for it to end. It also took itself so seriously that its standard anime weirdness really stood out. A weird-@$$ shinigami, a girl obsessed over light, and L's many quirks just didn't seem to fit the show in my opinion. And that's not even mentioning how dramatic it made everything. I preferred the manga version, if only because I read past these quirky scenes quicker, and they don't seem to stand out as much. The story could've been better, but it was still interesting on the whole. Overall, it was a good show. I just think there are better ones out there in its genre, like Monster.
@Rocko52 Definitely watch. Very touching action packed anime. I saw it subbed and TK is hilarious in it since his English is out of place. I saw the first ep dubbed and it was pretty good.

I dunno, I just found it incredible, I can see your points, and they are valid, but I love it. I actually had zero interaction with the fan communtiy of the show as I watched it, and I still don't so other's praise doesn't influence me.
Anime watching: Mobile Suit Gundam, Lupin III, & Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Diamond is Unbreakable
Reading: The Golden Compass
We watched the last two episodes of Gurren Lagann in Anime Club today, and my friend burst into years when she saw that part with Vyril in episode 26 (she's obsessed with him, by the way).
Wait, Virral? What part? I only remember in that episode him imagining himself having a family. Is it time I rewatched Gurren Lagann again?
Watch Angel Beats, then. It was one of the first anime I saw when I got back into Anime post-Toonami, and it was fantastic. A breath of fresh air, and a heartwrenching drama.

Yeah, that part.
My friend cried during that, and I made a comment about how many tons of drugs the writers used to write the finale.
Here are my top five: (not in any order.) ~Lucky Star: First anime that got me into anime watching. ~Ranma 1/2: Second anime I've ever watched, took me a month To go through the whole series. It was worth it. ~Ouran HSHC: Everything about it just makes me laugh. ~Angel Beats: First really dramatic anime I ever watched, I loved it. ~The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzimiya: I really enjoyed this anime, I watch it over and over again.
