I've been to about 8 or more anime websites over the past 2 and half years. The best community I've seen is on MechaTalk, with AnimeNation's Forum in second place. The rest were just terrible in my opinion. Lots of trolls and uppity jerks.

MechaTalk is obviously a Mecha-focused forum. It's got some of the smartest, kindest, most thorough people I've ever met, but the forum is slow as molassas (generally only 20-30 posts a day throughout the whole forum), and non-Mecha discussion is even slower. I don't think you're a mecha fan, so I don't really recommend it.

AnimeNation is decent, though. It's a well-rounded site, and has a generally well-rounded community. Lots of odd-balls, not that many jerks and trolls - at least no more than you'll see on Nintendo Life. However, one of those jerks is a Mod, and there tends to be a lot of drama, though it's often restricted to the Off-Topic section. I usually only go there to see why a prominent menber was banned (it happened quite often while I was there), because sure enough, it was usually due to something in the Off-Topic section. Unless you like that stuff, I suggest avoiding it. There are a lot of cool members there, though - smart guys, smart@$$es, super nice guys and gals, people who love anime and people who don't. There are still some jerks who put their tastes on a pedastal and will criticize others for deviating from their "standards", but iirc, they tend to be quickly put in their place. Except Bernard_Monsha, since he's a moderator over there...just stay out of his way. Not perfect, but I enjoyed my stay there.

All that said, I haven't been to an anime forum in months, except for a few posts in Crunchyroll's forum, since I much prefer to talk to people around here and on RPGFan's Anime/Manga thread. Everyone here gets along and doesn't criticize others tastes (for the most part. I think I rag on RR529 too much, though), and we all seem to like good shows, even if not everyone knows of a lot of anime.

I'm not enough of an anime fan even after the past few years to be on a general anime fan. I would have to watch more than 1 new anime per season at best for starters... I mean, I was part of the shockingly tolerable Viz Naruto forums for like a minute. I was also part of Save One Piece, if anyone actually remembers that.

Love this movie, and for many reasons. Its for the most part grounded and realistic, its all about actual human beings and the extremes of what science itself can bring upon the world. There's no anime magic, no talking animals or floating cutsey mascot things, no giant buster swords; just a beautiful, artistic look at life in the 19th century, and what technology would've been like if it was as advanced as it was in the movie.

I randomly found this for 6 bucks. Cool.

So, thanks to Crunchyroll I have just discovered these little songs;

I actually have the SAO 8-BIT rendition in my library now. It's quite incredible how well that translated out to only a few sets of eight bits.

Thanks given to Xkhaoz for that one avatar.

Nice! Its well-worth the bucks.

Another movie I got awhile ago was Summer Wars; and while I liked it, too much of it was like the Digimon movie. I know it was directed by the same guy who did the Digimon movies, but couldn't he of tryed a little harder to NOT make the same movie (Season One's "Our War Game!") again, except about 3 times as long?

I really want that Digimon poster.

RR529

Toonami Saturday Night! (Part 1)

Bleach - Just caught the tail end of it, where Stark was using the Super Ghost Kamikaze Atta... umm... err... exploding spirit wolves???

Naruto - Pretty cool episode. Their teacher was finally freed, and beat the villain with his own style.

ThunderCats - Yay! they finally found some more cats, I wonder when they were going to start actually gathering an army (you know, to fight the villain's army). Oh wait, these cats are technically dead, sort of...

Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)

Toonami Saturday Night (Part 2)!

Missed Samurai 7 & Sym-Bionic Titan.

Eureka 7 - Holland finally realizes that Renton has to be Eureka's partner, and It's been revealed that Charles & Ray are after the Gekko (uh oh).

Tenchi Muyo GXP - Finally an actual main Tenchi character gets some screen time (it's just Ryo-Ohki, but hey, at least it's something).

Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)

I've been going to my "home" forum since 2001, back when it focused on DBZ. It had a Naruto focus later on, but now it's just a general place to hang out, limping through periods of inactivity throughout the years.

...Now I feel old.

So for some reason I started watching Durarara. I'm liking it so far - I'm not sure why Holo from Spice and Wolf was in the first episode, but that's not necessarily a bad thing

There's so many characters though...

always thought I'd change to Gyarados after I turned 20 but hey, this is more fitting I guess. (also somebody registered under the original Magikarp name and I can't get back to it anymore orz)

Don't worry, the series does an amazing job at letting you get to know most of these characters.

Just watched an 80's anime movie called Appleseed on YouTube.

It was pretty good. Reminded me of Ghost in the Shell quite a bit (what with an elite special forces unit combating terrorists in a futuristic society).

A boring name, actually! The Center Network! It's not much of a "network" anymore, though.

I'm liking Durarara a lot more than I thought I would! I know who all the characters in the opening sequence are, which is a bit of a surprise since there were like 15. The structure of the episodes also feels really fresh, and the ways each plot arc intersects with another keeps me excited. The modal jazz soundtrack is... unorthodox, but it'll do, and the ending theme is annoyingly catchy if a little generic.

All in all superb so far! I don't usually like "myth arc" shows much, but this one's been really good.

There's a 2004 Appleseed film done in CGI that's also well worth watching (and its sequel, Appleseed Ex Machina). Its not exactly a remake, more a re-interpretation - they're both adapted from the same source manga.

That's actually the one I was looking for (I remember seeing it at Wal-Mart a few years ago), but YouTube only had it in Russian.

I found out that it was created by Masamune Shirow, though, so the similarity I noticed to Ghost in the Shell in style wasn't just coincidence, lol.

BTW, there's also an even earlier work of his on YouTube, called Black Magic M-66 (despite the title, it's a sci-fi flick, like his other work), and it's pretty good as well.

Was just finally reading Vol. 65 of One Piece...

...And I remember why I love it so much. There's just so many powerful moments! To Nothing made me shed a tear, and it wasn't even a sad moment. Gosh darn Oda, you're too good.

Also smiling Haki Luffy is awesome.
