I have a pretty bad habit of liking almost any anime I watch, especially ones I buy before watching.
But, there was a REALLY terrible show back in 2004 that I fansubbed called "Cosprayers" or something like that. MAN, now that was bad. I ended up winning a free boxset of Noein as well, and while it was ok, I really need to watch it a second time around to really like it enough to remember parts of it. The 2nd season of Genshiken was good, not as great as the first season, but they REALLY dropped the ball with the "ending". Even another set of 3 OVA's could have finished out the manga, but nooooooo.
Just started Fairy Tail out of random curiousity. I know it gets a lot of comparisons to One Piece, but I'm not really feeling that it has that wow factor to its story, or even like they're trying with the story at all. I only just started, even One Piece took a few episodes to impress me, so we'll see how it goes.
With that said, it does make up for it with intense action right from the word go. After spending 8 episodes with Blue Exorcist (I forgot to mention this, but there's almost no action in that show. Just a warning), I could really use some heart-pounding action. Plus there's lots of world building. If there was one thing this writer could do right, it was world building. I hated Rave Master, but I loved the world of Rave Master, I just wished it was in a better show. Maybe now I'll get my wish?
I'm watching it dubbed, btw. I like most of the voices except Natsu's. It just doesn't quite fit so far, but maybe that's just because it's an overused voice that I usually put with Death the Kid and Sgt. Keroro...
EDIT: Please tell me Lucy doesn't spend this entire show being useless. Even Usopp manages to avoid consistantly making the situation worse.
Watched Cooler's Return last night! I've saw all the DBZ movies before, but I like watching them again occasionally (at least the early ones, the later ones aren't as good, IMO. Bio-Broly, really?).
Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)
I never liked the Dragon Ball Z Movies outside of Bardock's movie. Most of them were questionable in their canoninity, and I recall most of them having even less charactization and story than the main series...
^yeah, none of the movies are even remotely canon (you could argue that The Dead Zone takes place before Raditz, but even it has it's contradiction, as small as it may be).
The Bardock and Trunks ones (the only canon ones) were actually television specials, instead of theatrical releases, like the rest of the films.
Still, I just take the movies for what they are, and don't think too much into them (although I believe they're all too short).
Lolz Smexi. Never Insult me like that as a joke again. @Jon_Talbain Lucy's character does develop and become more important later on. It takes a while but it's sort of like Lucy is starting to get annoying then she gradually starts becoming useful before you give up. The spotlight is usually on everyone else though. I've been meaning to get back into Fairy Tail for a year now, lmao. I can't even remember if I was in the middle of an arc or not anymore. I got time today so maybe I'll catch up. Btw, if you think the anime has great action I hear the manga is significantly less censored with the fights.
I'm on episode 4 of Fairy Tail. By this time in One Piece, I was actually invested in the main cast. Here, I don't know much about anybody, and I'm really starting to wish Lucy would shut up and be helpful for once...
It's still dumb fun, mind you. The action's great, and there's a lot of humor, even if it doesn't work all the time (most of the jokes seem like they'd be better in the Manga), but I just wish it would put more effort into its characters and story. The beginning just feels totally rushed in some ways, yet at the same time I feel like they're taking their sweet time establishing the world, characters, and especially the story. It's frustrating. What is the entire point of this show? The only thing they've established so far is that they're Wizards doing random jobs for people. That's an episodic formula.
Started Manga of The World God Only Knows (kami no mizoshiru sekai) I kinda liked the anime so here's to hoping the manga is better (which it usually is if the manga came first)

@Jon_Talbain I think Natsu is looking for a Dragon he use to know ... I'm not sure if the story advances past that from where I'm at and if it did it's probably a spoiler. I understand your complaint about the cast not feeling too well introduced. I agree everyone is sort of just shown off and there for a while. You do get more backstory on the characters later on though. You get to know more about even somewhat minor characters like Elfman. I say stick with it for a while. The characters do get better. Whether you like Natsu even after his history is given is up to you though, since he's pretty much your typical hot-headed main shonen guy.

I probably will stick with it, but again, I don't see where the One Piece comparisons came from. Yes, it's in the same genre, and it has a similar art style, but that seems to be where they end. :/ Nothing about it so far really puts it up there with OP in any way, either. I'm just disappointed, is all.

The only thing they have in common is very similar art styles, IMO.
Just finished Bakuman 15. And with that I'm caught up with the series. I'm glad a new issue comes out every month. I swear that's the fastest I've seen a manga series released in the west.
Man, 15 was really awesome. The ending to the issue was such an F-YEAH! Moment too. I had so much fun reading it. The art work is really top notch too. Btw, who voiced Simon the digger in Gurren Lagann? I keep imagining his voice as Mashiro.

YESSSS to Bakuman rocking! New volume is coming out soon iirc. Monthly releases rock. The quarterly ones suck cuz by then I forget what happened previously. One Piece is on a quarterly one I think That might be caught up with the volumes in Japan though, I'm not sure. Anyways 16 gonna be great!
