Funy, I only learned about it from somebody who finished it last weekend. Did it just end or something?
Also, your impressions on Space Adventure Cobra makes me want to watch that. Been interested but just never took the plunge.

I think it ended sometime in April, it was just sitting in my Hulu queue for the longest time before I got around to it. I kept wanting to finish other shows first.

Ha, cool. I ended up buying Cobra on DVD for a friend's birthday coming up soon, and he likes retro 80's stuff too. Figured he'd get a kick out of it!

Just watched the last episode (well, the last English episode anyway) of Sgt. Frog on Netflix last night. Easily the most entertaining anime I've ever watched, and I don't even see much anime to begin with! I will say this though, I thought Kid Icarus: Uprising broke the forth wall a lot, until I saw Sgt. Frog! XD

Other then Sgt. Frog, Fruits Basket is the only other anime series I've watched from beginning to end. I'm thinking of starting Ahh, my Goddess. I saw a few episodes with a friend of mine, and it looks interesting.

Ah my Goddess is pretty good, definitely worth a watch. And I loved Sgt. Frog, too. I hadn't laughed so hard in ages before I watched that show, and I still have the most entertaining dreams about it from time to time.

My favorite frog is Kululu. I just love his wacky bordering-on-insane super genius/mad scientist-esch personality. I've even found myself copying his laugh lately. Ke! Ke! Ke!

Yeah, Kululu's freakin' great. I love his inventions, too, and when he has a giant robot fight with the mom. He's my favorite after Keroro.

Oh man Bakuman vol. 14 is greeeaat! It's a bit more serious than previous issues and the end of each chapter really really gets you pumped for the next. There's a great break up of comedy through it all too. None of it feels out of place. I guess Hiramaru's comic relief parts are pretty random but they're so damn funny I can over look that.

Is it better to watch Sgt. Frog dubbed or subbed?

kkslider5552000

Hahaha at this rate they're gonna release the entire Bakuman series in English before Reborn! 17 gets released.

(note: the joke is that Reborn volume 17 will never be released in English and that makes me sad)

Dubbed, unless you know a lot about Japanese culture, most of the jokes will go over your head if you watch it subbed.

Also, I just noticed the Gundam Double X in Oppai Gundam style. I thought it was the Freedom Gundam at first, but I can't complain about a reference to my 2nd favorite series.

Has anyone ever tried to watch an anime raw? As in in Japanese, but no subs? I tend to do that every once in a while. Just today I saw episode 1 of Ben-To raw, since I happened upon it on Youtube. The show's kinda simple so it wasn't that hard to follow, but I definitely had to focus to really get the gist of what was going on. Still, it was fun to watch, and I think I enjoyed it more having to deduce what was going on than if it was just told to me.

the thing is, I never got why it was so popular in the first place. While I did like Bleach for a while (especially the first 4 volumes) I never felt it was particularly great like Naruto or One Piece. Or Reborn. Or Hunter X Hunter.

Some people really really really dug the Soul Society arc, apparently. And I'll never understand why...

I like watching subbed and not looking at the subtitles but then sometimes glancing at them. If you know sentence structure you can pick up on a lot of words and meanings. It's pretty cool.

Anyways been watching Zero no Tsukaima F (last season as far as I'm aware) and it is really good. Beats the other seasons. All the girls are all over Saito-kun now

I think it was just the right combination of action and characters that fans love. Honestly, I enjoyed it outside of one of the longest battles that was just horribly boring. And to its credit, outside of that battle, it had a good pace despite being absurdly long. Honestly, most of my frustration with the series comes from how awesome the ending of the arc was and how Bleach should have improved and become a series worthy of all the praise it used to get.

However, even if we go with the assumption that the Soul Society arc was the best part of the series, compared to the first storyline of comparable size in Naruto (the Chunin Exam and aftermath) or One Piece (Alabasta/the entire Baroque Works saga), there's still an obvious difference in quality as far as I'm concerned. But whatever, Bleach used to at least be good. Inuyasha was popular, and I flat out hated it so it could be worse. Or something.

Yeah, I agree with you on every point. The series really wasn't all that in the first place. Good, but not great. Oh well, who knows how anything becomes popular, really...

Anyways, I just rewatched the first three episodes of Blue Excorsist, and I gotta say, I really liked it this time, now that I had my expectations in check. It's kinda like Naruto (minus the Ninjas) if it actually kept its focused on the demon-inside-him aspect and had him try and overcome his demon (which in this case is himself) by training to become an excorcist. So far, it's been more emotional and interesting in these first 3 episodes than in the 50 or so episodes of Naruto that I saw. Lets just hope it can keep it up and doesn't go too far off track. Luckily it's only 25 episodes.

Already started that yesterday. Only watched the first episode since I can't stand the shere amount of ads on Hulu. If it were on Crunchyroll or Crackle I'd watch more. As it stands, I can only watch it on the Funimation app on my iPad, and that app is very finicky.
