As for Madoka Magica, it's a magical girl show, but apparently gets really dark (they said it was the most popular show at the event).

It is. The best japanese animation series of the year. It's not your typical magical girl show.

@ person who wanted to know like 2 pages ago: Clannad is great . One of my favourites It is definitely worth watching if you like romance anime. It's kind of a harem/romance, but not your typical one and it's really good

I've heard it called the Evangelion of Magical Girl shows. That's an insult as far as I'm concerned.

An insult to which series?

Madoka.

Huh? NGE got a little wierd there at the end, that's for sure, but it was pretty good overall, IMO (Note: I haven't seen any of the movies, though).

I just found that while it had plenty of great ideas, it rarely executed them properly to make an anime that's consistently compelling beyond unintentional lulz and it was all over the place. And that's being nice.

ICasshern Sins is actually starting to get interesting.

Because a "robots deal with the end of the world" scenerio was so boring before. It's annoying how most people don't get the point of the series is, at least so far, is that it's basically a unique twist in the roadtrip movie type of story. Guy walks around just seeing interesting people dealing with the end of the world and their own sudden mortality. It's really interesting, even though admittedly it can sometimes be slow and Casshern can occasionally cross the line from understandably confused and depressed to terrible Final Fantasy emo character. BTW: I love the art, some of the best I've seen from tv anime. The characters really pop out and the backgrounds completely expose the overuse of the post-apocalyptic games as awful looking by comparison.

That being said, plot development will basically always interest me more so I do approve of a "focus on the villians" episode.

Well, seeing as how the Kingdom Hearts manga utterly butchered the events in the story (especially at the end), I won't be moving on to the sequels.

Any manga recommendations? I'm up to trying any genré, but I'd prefer something not too long (the 4 volumes of the KH manga seemed just about right, but I'm up for a little shorter or longer).

Thats odd Netflix had it for stream but now they only have 1, 2, and 4. Its probably cause 3 was just a movie rather than a whole season.

K-on and Lucky Star are both only 4 vols. (maybe 5.) I highly highly suggest Bakuman even though it's 20 vols.

20 volumes seems to usually be about the average for manga people actually care about (except for internet beloved comedy manga apparently)

I just opted for Rurouni Kenshin

I know it's longer than I was initially looking for (it's 28 volumes), but I figured I'd give it a go. After only one chapter, I'm more pumped than I ever was at any point during the KH manga. So far, it's also just different enough from the anime to keep it fresh.
