I've been reading the manga of The melancholy of Haruhi - chan and just like the manga of the series its a spin-off of, its censored so Nagato's hentai games are just referred to as 'naughty' games and just look like regular dating sims on the screen of her laptop and because of this Kyon and Mikuru's reactions aren't as funny. They'll probably censor later funny scenes that have blood in them too. Something awesome about the manga that wasn't in the anime is Koizumi and the esper rangers!

Started Bakuman vol. 7 yesterday. Wow. Didn't see that coming. Not done yet, but I'm thoroughly enjoying it. I always get so worked up when shujin and Mashiro get all pumped up. lol I'm getting way too attached I these characters.

What didn't you see coming? I haven't got there in the manga yet but there's a chance I might have seen it in the anime.

Yep, I've seen that. That was surprising when that happened but the episodes/chapters after that just keep getting better and better. I haven't finished series two but I think the latter half of series two has some of the best episodes in the series. Some of the earlier ones in series two were great as well like the one where Azuki had her dilemma about being exposed in that photo book. While series 1 was good, I think series 2 is definitely better. So that you know what I'm talking about, I used Bakuman wiki to found out that series 1 ends at chapter 34.

Really, I'd say start from the beginning. If you really don't want to do that, though, then watch the backstory episodes of all the characters (Episode guide here) and skip ahead to the Buggy Sidestory arc and Loguetown arc, then to the Laboon arc and watch from there on. I guess you can skip the Little Garden Arc, but I don't suggest it, it's pretty cool. You may also want to skip around in the Drum Island arc if you want to, it's kinda boring, but it's probably best if you watch it through the right way anyways.

The best way to get into One Piece is to start at the beginning and watch/read all the way through. You definitely don't want to do any skipping (unless it's anime filler that's not the G8 arc), because you'll be doing yourself a disservice by doing so...

Welp, just finished vol. 7 of Bakuman today. That was great. This one really did a fantastic job of balancing out the seriousness and comedy. Artwork is fantastic as always too. Really excited to start vol. 8 later today or tomorrow. Stuffs getting' real.
Also excited to watch some Gurren Lagann tonight. Episode 21 here I come!

It was a decent action adventure series, but it never got better than that and threw away any chance of actually building towards the ending properly. And for an anime I've known about for over 10 years, and liked more when I started to watch the first few episodes years ago, a bit of a dissappointment.

I'm probably gonna start Steins;Gate.

Watching Gurren Lagann episode 24 right now. So exciting. I'm incredibly pumped up right now. Tempted to watch all of the rest right now, but I want to stop after this episode to truly savor the final 3 eps tomorrow. I probably will do the later. I'm loving this show.
Edit: So much for that. I gotta know what's happening. Starting episode 25!

Bad@ss. Satisfying ending. Beautiful. What a great ride! I'm at a loss for words right now to truly show how much I enjoyed the series and it's ending.
Oh. Started on episode 21 today. So I just watched 7 episodes in a row tonight. So good.

I love it when I'm able to get in a nice groove like that with a show and reel off 7+ episodes in a day. It happened to me the other day when I sat down and unexpectedly re-watched a third of Sgt. Frog's first season.

It really is best that you start right from the beginning. You could watch one of the many awesome later story arcs and probably enjoy them for the action & humor alone, but I think much of their impact will be lessened if you haven't been with the characters through all of their struggles and triumphs or seen how they interact with each other and how they've all bonded & grown over the course of the story. And the biggest hook and joy of One Piece, at least for me, is that special relationship the Straw Hat Pirates have earned with each other.

If I absolutely had to recommend a spot in the story that isn't the beginning and should still give you a solid handle on what the show is all about, though, I think it'd be the Jaya-through-Skypiea arc, because it's pretty awesome and, since it has little to do with the rest of the plot in the greater scheme of things, it should give you a pretty good feel for both the show and the main characters without spoiling too much of the rest of the canon. If you enjoy that, you'll know that you can enjoy the rest of the show - and then you should go right back to episode/chapter 1.

Jesus Christ, that exact thing has happened to me before.

I also know what it's like to be lost for words on a good show. Was the same way with Brotherhood, and GaoGaiGar, and probably was the second time I watched GL. First time, though, I couldn't stop talking about it. Glad you finally convinced yourself to give it a go. I know it took me quite a bit of time to convince myself to watch it, too.

And the ending has the only major flaw I saw in the series, which is we're never given any indication that Nia will disintegrate at the end. It just kinda happens. That's the biggest thing the movies fix, besides being even more badass
