I just checked it out. It has 5 good shows (Gurren Lagann, Noein, Now and Then, Here and There; Robotech, and Monster), plus two good movies (Dead Leaves and Ghost in the Shell 2.0). If you have Gold already it's worth checking out, plus they'll be adding stuff every tuesday apparently. Not exactly something that would get me to buy Gold right now, though.
I'll pinch this from the Pokémon Black 2 & White 2 thread:
'Cuz I want to discuss my newfound desire for a one-off Pokémon anime movie or series, visually and canonically distinct to the one we've known since the 90s. Plus it seems more appropriate to discuss Pokéon anime here than in the thread focused on the games themselves. What do you guys think? Pokémon appropriate for a big-studio bigger-budget anime outing, with a more serious and deeper plot? I'm not saying it's time to start seeing spillage of Pokéblood in a 16+ rated series; the children's market still needs to apply; I just think there's definitely room in the world for something edgier and more epic from the Pokéverse.
And seeing as Nintendo seems to be getting quite friendly with the anime studios lately...
@Mickeymac: No, the hints regarding the Whitebeard war don't show up until at least four arcs later...
"Don't make enemies, they'll stab your heart; don't make friends, they'll stab your back. Including me, including you, all men are trash. Don't love; don't be loved. Have nothing to do with other; live in isolation."

So yeah, not much of a spoiler. And just for clarification, I just meant that the Whitebeard war and the alabasta war seem quite similar, outside of the Witebeard War being more epic and ended on a completely different note.
I'm pretty sure the entire Pokemon fanbase hates you now for implying Pokemon Special directly adapted to anime form wouldn't be the best idea.
(I honestly have never read the series, I just know how manga fans act like)
I never implied it was a bad idea. I actually have no idea what the storyline for Pokémon Special is (not much of a manga/comic reader), but I've heard that it's rather good, and indeed rather edgier and considerably deeper than the Ash & Co anime (which I'm just gonna refer to as the Ashime from this point). So an anime based on Special could actually be pretty cool too. I was just saying that perhaps something altogether distinct from existing canons would allow for more play with the general "rules" of the Pokéverse and give us something not done before with the franchise's storytelling.
If someone wants to adapt Special, I'd be all for it. I was thinking more of a one-off thing - say a 40-episode series or a movie that drops us into a different take on Pokémon, gives us a well-defined storyline that Very Definitely Ends at the end and we never hear from it again. Asides, of course, the years of post-mortem internet discussion of "that awesome Pokémon anime spin-off they made"
"I can't even say I'm much of a Pokémon fan, never really liked the ashime or played the games since Red/Blue, but damn that series was epic" - NL anime thread forum post, year 2016
I'm currently in the thick of the Alabasta Arc. I see elements of The Whitebeard War in here. Really liking it so far. Fights are freakin' intense. Wonder how/if they'll ever be able to top this one. And I'm seriously having deja vu right now...
BTW, @Fonis, if you're still watching Sgt. Frog, let me know when you at least make it to episode 10.
I've haven't seen anymore since the first episode but I do plan on continuing with the series so I'll tell you when I do.
Haha. Guess I got a reason to turn my TV on again. Probably will just turn it on to give them views, though, I still have my doubts about their potential lineup.
