Well, now that this is officially a manga thread: Maybe Spoiler? Anyone else here get Shonen Jump Alpha? I think the weekly chapter updates are great... Though I am upset with missing the entirety of Fish-Man Island in One Piece due to where Monthly Shonen Jump ended... So I have this big gaping hole in the plot... T.T
Thanks, Man. I rarely read Manga myself, but I figure this place could use some Manga discussion, too.
Anyways, I finally finished Gaiking: The Legend of Daiku Maryu. All I'll say about it for now is this: NO FREAKIN FAIR SETTING UP FOR A SEQUEL THAT WAS NEVER GOING TO HAPPEN!!! At Least do a 5 episode OVA or something, Toei...
@TysonQ7: If I were you, I'd look up the scanlations for Fishman Island, since it's a very good arc which set up a lot of background regarding the relationship between humans and Fishmen. Not to mention the news it provided regarding some changes that happened over the two year time skip and laying the foundation for what's sure to be one of the Straw Hats' biggest encounters in the New World. But if you're totally adverse to scanlations, then hold off on following the current arc until you can buy the volumes that cover Fishman Island, because you'll definitely miss out on some of the finer details...
@Retro: Try not to be overwhelmed by Kamina's manliness...

For those of you watching Clannad on Netflix this is your last chance to finish watching the series on the service as Clannad will be removed within the next few hours, but if you launch Netflix before the show is removed you should be able to watch it until you exit Netflix.
The only manga I've read was Dragon Ball, and that was online with what was obviously a fan translation, lol. Tried to read the Rurouni Kenshin and Kingdom Hearts mangas, but for some reason I keep on getting sidetracked, lol.
Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)
@RR529: Definitely go back and finish Rurouni Kenshin. Trust me, it's worth it (plus, if you're a One Piece reader/watcher, you get a nice little Easter Egg)...

There's only 4 series I've read more of in the past few months (Tegami Bachi, Bakuman, Yatsubo&, Soul Eater) . The rest I haven't bothered with for a while for various reasons.
Do you watch the anime of Bakuman too? I've only read the first volume of it but I've seen all 25 episodes of the first series and 15/25 of the second series. What do you think of it?
I love Bakuman. I haven't seen the anime yet, only read the manga. Actually, I'm only up to issue 5. Really like the chaarcters and their relationships.

Well I don't know by comparison as I've never seen the anime (and I don't plan to) but the manga's a pretty amazing, clever series in almost every way that somehow has a very believable (not sure if actually accurate but I wouldn't be surprised at all) look into the world of japanese manga etc. while still being a fairly shonen friendly title (mainly from the high school geniuses cliche). Pretty excellent, only problem I've had so far is volume 6 where our protagonist decides to be a stubborn idiot and unintentionally almost stops Shonen Jump dead in its tracks because his friends agree with him! And it's a shame because considering the rest of the series (that I've read...up to volume 7) that could have been more a "real character flaw" moment instead of just annoying and questionably written. But again, basically everything else in the series is great.
I need to get back to Hayate the Combat Butler someday. I love comedy series with serious storylines and the fact that it's become more and more obvious that there's some inspiration from Detective Conan's plot has somehow made it even better.
@Retro_on_theGo I agree, the character relationships are what makes it such a good anime. @KKslider5552000 Are you referring to the chapter/sepisodes where Mashiro gets hospitalized?
I have ZERO issue with a story about anime being on the news beyond someone dying trying to be Gaara, and anime could use all the help it could get in America in a post-Toonami world. But it makes no sense.
Seriously, I skim through both One Piece and Conan's manga despite watching the anime. I occasionally watch Soul Eater and Reborn! despite reading the manga. I have a few anime I watch an episode of a week. I have many more I still need to watch. I have a dozen manga to finish. I have some more manga I want to read. I play video games.
I don't want to watch a series that I'm already reading anyway, especially since I've done that too much already.
