I already said this on the Netflix thread, but it's relevant here too. I have some sad news as it seems Clannad is going to be removed from Netflix on May 1st due to licensing issues.
@RR529: Yes, there is a sequel to E7, which stars the offspring of a certain couple from the first series (it's pretty obvious which one, but it's better to err on the side of caution regarding SPOILER!!!-type people). Also, the Lupin prequel is not directed by Shinichiro Watanabe, Sakamichi no Apollon (or Kids on the Slope) is. Also, the music for Kids on the Slope is being done by Yoko Kanno, who also did the music for Cowboy Bebop...
Regarding the Lupin prequel, it's definitely not for anyone who's against (or not allowed to watch) fanservice. Given that it's a show centered around Fujiko, there will be a lot to be had. I've only caught the first two episodes so far, but there were plenty of nipple shots, along with some suggestive scenes. The art is fantastic, though, and it'll cover how the four main characters wound up meeting, so it's a fantastic show...
"Don't make enemies, they'll stab your heart; don't make friends, they'll stab your back. Including me, including you, all men are trash. Don't love; don't be loved. Have nothing to do with other; live in isolation."
Indeed, the very same. It's only slated for 12 episodes so far (the third premieres this week), so it shouldn't be too long of a wait...

Oh, sorry for misinterpreting the Watanabe thing. Oh well, the fact that it's centered around another character instead of Lupin himself still makes it pretty interesting. The fanservice probably won't bother me either, as long as it has an interesting story.

Honestly, I'd swear it was the same artists. In fact, I just checked, it's the same studio and everything.

o wow,did not know well im either watching slayers, special a or the sacred blaksmith
Man I havent been on here in a long while. But there hasnt been a lot of anime thats caught my attention in the last year either, unfortunately...
Recently watched Kaze no Stigma (mediocre) and started Hellgirl (only watched 1-2 episodes, not as drawn in as I hoped.) FINALLY finished FMA Brotherhood last month (watched episodes 30-end in a week lol) Managed to snag another Miyazaki (Porko Rosso) and borrow one from the library (Whispers of the Heart) both pretty good, the latter is a bit long.
I am looking for anime recommendations, not to sound like a hipster, but nothing too mainstream/popular as I have probably seen it or seen as much as I plan of it.
[21:14] pixelman: I blame fheblackdragon
[21:15] pixelman: That's not an f by the way, it's a fancy t.

[21:15] pixelman: OB knows what he's asking about.
Might I suggest Star Ocean EX it's a good series that was released on DVD a couple years ago with both english dubs, and subs. I believe the full series DVD set has 27 episodes and only costs $19.99 new at Best Buy if yours has it in stock I would recommend it.

Whisper of the Heart? That's the one with the Violinist, right? If so...long is not the word I'd use. Slow and tedious was what I experienced.
Anyways, er, recommendations...honestly, I don't know what you like, so I'll just throw some shows at you and hope they stick:
Kiba (dark and arguably psychodelic scifi-fantasy - might be hard to find on the net nowadays, but it's well worth it. One of the most memorable shows I've ever seen)
Monster (A very good mystery, and that says a lot coming from me. Still kinda mainstream, but I somehow doubt you've seen it)
The King of Braves: GaoGaiGar (I'm watching it right now, and it's easily one of the best Super Robot Shows I've seen. If you have any nostalgia for Transformers and Voltron, you'll most likely love it)
Gunbuster (A multi-stage anime from the creator of Neon Genesis Evangelion, before he got depressed. It starts out as Rocky-like train-hard-be-the-strongest type show, then becomes a sci-fi mecha show, albeit with little action, then it goes full-on epic super robot action by the end. All with some very good character development. Gurren Lagann draws several parallels to this show. It's on the short side, but it's well worth it)
Gundam X (Yes, it's Gundam, but it's the most Obscure in the series. It's a shame because it's easily one of the best in the series, with great characters, a great story that's believable without being too dreary, a fleshed out post-apocalyptic setting, and some of the best action in a mecha show)
Legend of Galactic Heroes (One of the longest-running Sci-fi epics out there, as well as one of the best. It has some really good writing in it, with fleshed-out characters, political intrigue, and more)
Berserk (Mildly popular, but I wouldn't call it mainstream. A fantasy action show that's intense, with a really interesting story. Gets a bit out there halfway through, but it's still really good)
Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water (Another Anime from the creator of Evangelion. This time it's a historical adventure about a young inventor and a girl of unknown origin, who are chased a band of theives in early 20th century Europe. Eventually they all are saved by a mysterious submarine, and find themselves caught up in a plot to stop an even organization from taking over the world)
Sgt. Frog (A wacky comedy featuring space frogs who try to take over the Earth. One of the funniest and most memorable comedies I've seen in a long time)
Ah! My Goddess (A romantic comedy centered around a man who makes a wish to a goddess that she will be his girlfriend. A bit fluffy, but highly entertaining and sometimes touching, too)
The Third: Girl With the Third Eye (A drama about a freelancer in a postapocalyptic world where all technology is managed by beings known as "The Third," who are evolved humans with a third eye. Very compelling, with a fantastic and touching story)
Touch (Baseball-themed anime. Very good story with heavy emphasis on character development and relationships)
I could keep going, but I think I've overwhelmed you enough as is.

The only thing I can recommend is Now And Then, Here And There. While I'm not sure of it's popularity, it's a great sci-fi series that is completely free on Hulu right this instant. It's also fairly dark but totally worth viewing.

I watched that on SyFy (SciFi at the time) a few years ago. It was pretty short, but a good show nonetheless.
