A little back story.

When I was little, our household had a lot of video tapes of random children's TV shows.

One of them, possibly from around the late 80s/early 90s, featured two puppets who where pieces of fluff, other characters included a Granny and her grandchildren. The show was based in the Granny character's house and the fluff duo would escape the handbag and explore various objects/rooms(?).

The video must of got thrown out at one point, then today comes around and I remember the program, but not the name.

After relentless Googling keywords (fluff, kids, TV show, program, handbag, etc. etc.) I've found nothing.

Now I ask you, the NintendoLife forum members, if you have any idea what I'm on about, as I have no clue what else to do and where else to go on my search.

All the best and good luck, FinnTheWhovian.

@Meowpheel I'm sure it's real, my mum and sister also remember it.

What nationality was it?

I'm sorry, I'd like to help you but I have no idea. Still, I'm going to rick roll you because I don't like to waste replies by giving nothing:

@GrailUK Probably British, my sister insists as (apparently) in one episode they reference Captain Pugwash.

@Peek-a-boo Thanks for the list, but it doesn't seem to be on there. I'm sure the name was "_ and _", and the fluff puppets looked a little like Zig and Zag.

I've never heard of it. But yeah... +1 creepy pasta.

@FinnTheWhovian How many times did you watch it?

@FinnTheWhovian The Flumps?

Best I can do, even though it doesn't describe a handbag or a Grandmother in the shows brief story snippet.

Or Stoppit and Tidyup?

@SuperPaperLuigi Multiple times (can't really remember anything specific)

@Ichi Great show witch I also watched when I was younger, but sadly not the one I'm thinking of.

@Peek-a-boo Loved Stoppit, even had some of the books, and remember watching The Flumps, but they're still not "the show".

@FinnTheWhovian It's not one I know. I grew up in the U.K. (I live in the U.K.) and to be honest it's not a premise I've ever heard before.

@FinnTheWhovian In abstract terms the closest it reminds me of is Bagpuss... https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bagpuss

Do you remember if it was a cartoon, or live action, or stop-go animation, marionettes, hand puppets?

Actually, I just read back over your first post and it doesn't really ring a bell...but best of luck with the search.

A lot of creepy pastas are really dream imagery...probably memory of dreams people have later mistaken for memories of actual reality. Human memory is notoriously unreliable and the last thing that should ever be relied upon if there's an alternative...I mean really...it's shockingly inaccurate.

@SuperPaperLuigi Despite Bagpuss being (again) a great show, it's definitely not "the show".

On the subject of what type of show it was, the fluff characters where hand puppets, and the human characters where people in large suits, possibly rubbery.

I also remember shots of the human characters (mainly Granny) in the real world most likely during the titles.

On a side note, all the shows we're on about are worth a watch (even if it just for the hilarity of old kids shows), look them (and Roger and the Rottentrolls because it's just a really fantastic show) up on YouTube.

When I was a kid I used to really like the Klangers and Mr Benn and I'll always remember Jamie and the Magic Torch for its intro: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KeMMow_Itqw

Also, Mr. Rossi...but I didn't like the show, just the intro... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fw26fLW_gg4

Same with Dr Snuggles...it looked really interesting from the intro but it just didn't satisfy... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-7_WRSEwuk0 In fact I don't think he ever actually went into space. :0/

@FinnTheWhovian I have never wanted to help somebody out on the internet as much as I do with you!

I really do hope you find out what the children's television programme is, as it is a genuine mystery to me.

I grew up watching all these fascinatingly odd 70's and 80's kids shows instead of those that were on on TV during the era I was actually born (in the early 90's).

I shall keep a close eye on this thread...
