If you want to play games like Super Mario Odyssey, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Super Mario Party, etc. and like the portable aspect, I'd say get a Switch. I will say the Xbox One has some compelling exclusives like Halo, Forza, and Rare Replay (as far as I know, there's not a lot of exclusive games on it. I always look at exclusives anytime I buy a console), but the Switch is a much more family-friendly console so you're probably better off with that. I'm still getting a lot of enjoyment from mine!
Do you got a tv in your room that you can play as much as you like? if the answer is no get a Switch. If you got a tv with unlimited access then think what games you want to play. Mario, Zelda, Splatoon, Smash and Pokemon on the one hand. Final Fantasy, Red Redemption, Uncharted, Call of Duty, and GTA V on the other. Games on PS4 are generally cheaper than Switch games cause they got huge discounts all the time Thats harder and more rare on Switch.
Xbox One is almost as good as PS4. Just the second got more exclusive games.
It's difficult to decide for you.

^^ Definitely this. If you expect to have trouble with usurping a TV, switch is the way to go. Or, if you just like playing random places. As far as underlying games & exclusives, it's totally based on your preference, but making a list of "I super want to play this" for each system may help you choose which one suits you best.

I agree. There are many good deals on Xbox, all the multiplatform games and better exclusives than on PS4. Game Pass is great and the Xbox controller much better than the joy-cons. However, if you want portability and play anywhere then the Switch is a better choice especially if you don't have a 3DS because, obviously, you can play anywhere with a Switch (or 3DS).
@Oliviabrown I am very biased in favor of Switch to be fair. But with the Switch you can play both in portable mode and on TV, you have access to all of Nintendo's awesome library of exclusive titles, most of which you would probably like since you mentioned you had a 3DS in another thread. The Switch honestly has better variety of games for a wider audience. The Xbox One is slanted to more mature titles, first person shooters, and lots of M rated games.
Also you can get Minecraft on anything released in the last 6 years and even several older devices. PC, Xbox 360, PS3, Wii U, Android, iOS, PS4, New 3DS, Wii U, Switch, Xbox One, and probably your grandma's calculator.

Minecraft belongs to Microsoft (the makers of Xbox) so of course you can play it on Xbox, and it is also part of the xbox game pass subscription service all well.
