@Octane I see you have already taken care of the two new ones that popped up tonight/today.
My compliments for the lightning fast reflexes, although I myself have also wondered the same thing in regards to there perhaps being some more effective alternative for these annoying spam farms.

@ThanosReXXX I think that's just me seeing them by sheer coincidence. I've had some spare time this evening, but it feels like those threads are popping up whenever I browse the forums. Either bad luck, or I'm only seeing part of them
It's getting a bit out of hand IMO; it's happening a lot as of late.
@Octane It certainly is, and always ones with a whole bunch of links in them to watch whatever kind of program or event. I saw a lot of sports related ones, over the last few months.

It probably wouldn't hurt to have some sort of captcha for account creation. They also aren't perfect, but that'd be another step for the bots to have to try to work around. The initial sign-up form for here that I just checked is fairly basic. I don't recall if there are any other screens after that.
Currently playing: Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr's Journey, Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana (Switch)
I just remembered that a lot of these spam posts with a lot of links in them, almost always advertise with web addresses which end in '.tv' so that might be a way to at least filter out a part of them quicker than having to manually remove them. Perhaps @antdickens can add his two cents on whether or not that's possible.
Then again, in general, it doesn't really bother me too much, but like others, I did notice that the number of spam messages posted seems to be growing, or is at least occurring more frequently.
Yeah I agree. Spam is the damage for all citizens of the internet globally worldwide. I think there should be actions for preventing them like this: http://xs.nak3.oyl.cn
Hello there lovely people. Yeah, we've seen an increase in this type of spammer in the last year or so, first on Push Square and now on Nintendo Life. Annoyingly the domain names and wording is slightly different, so creating a filter for them isn't as easy as you'd think.
The mods have done a great job removing this stuff on sight and reporting it makes it easy for us too.
Until now the spam filter was working in lots of cases, but still had things slipping through. I've used all the spam reported posts over the last 6 months to build up a new exclusion list of domains, which should help the fight.
I'll maintain this list for now, so the mods don't need to do anything different there's other things I can do, but I won't post them here as the spammers might read it!
And yes, to those talking about capcha etc, that doesn't work against these spammers as they are humans doing it, sadly.
@antdickens I did notice that a lot of these links either end in '.tv' or '.co' instead of .com, so wouldn't it be an option to write/implement something to simply obstruct any and all links containing those extensions?
No other useful or personal site I know of, has these extensions, so it might just work.

@ThanosReXXX how about Twitch? unfortunately, blanket blocks always have false positives, but I'll continue to make changes to it anyway and see how we get on
@antdickens Hope you guys & girls find a permanent solution. I'm not massively annoyed by it in general, but it most certainly is a nuisance that shouldn't be on here, and I just wish it would vanish. Good luck with whatever you have planned.
