Topic: Would you like WayForward to produce a new Mega Man 2D platformer for eShop/?

I think that would be pretty cool. It shouldn't be too hard for WayForward to obrtain the Mega Man license from Capcom to just produce one game for them. I'm sure they would be up to the challenge of doing the series justice and would expect the same quality of game as Mighty Switch Force. I don't think it should be called Mega Man 11 though since it would be exclusive to the 3DS eshop, perhaps call it Mega Man & Bass 2 or Mega Man World 6 (sequel to the GB games).

Edgey, Gumshoe, Godot, Sissel, Larry, then Mia, Franziska, Maggie, Kay and Lynne.

I'm throwing my money at the screen but nothing happens!

Well, why not create a new "Mega Man" all together? They would have no limitations but let the creative juices flowing

MM&B2 already exists, though some wikis say its canon is questionable. I would not mind, provided it does not lower the quality of other WF projects. The problem, however, is would Capcom allow the series to be licensed? My thinking is, would Capcom be willing to license, if they thought, that people's opinions on how they are currently treating the MM series, means that only if Capcom license the game out, will we see a MM game? Would they be of the opinion that licensing once, would set a precedent in the gaming community towards an opinion that Capcom themselves do not care to make a MM title, so the only way to get one is for them to license. I'm not entirely sure they want to set a precedent, where gamers assume that Capcom themselves are not interested in the series, so that gamers think they have to convince Capcom to license it out to developers that are interested. In other words, as best as I can shorthand what I mean, Would CC be afraid of gamers wanting them to regularly license the MM ip, since CC themselves doesn't seem interested, or would CC consider such action tarnishing to the series?

Not a huge mega man fan so not really, would love to see what they could do if given a go at the wonderboy franchise though.

Don't think they could do it any more. (Maybe before the people left to make Shovel Knight).

If it was at the same level of quality as the DS Contra 4 I would be fine with it. (Although I think the mechanics and pace of the first Megaman X are by far the best).

They already licensed it to Inti Creates (And it cost a total of 50,000$ to make both of them I think I read in an interview (Possible it is for only one of them but the second obviously would be cheaper)).

The Capcom policy is to license everything which will sell regardless due to its name. (Streetfighter seems excluded).

It is why the quality is generally poor to average. (When they do it themselves the quality is usually better).

There is already a Mega Man & Bass 2 on the Wonderswan and it really blows. One of the robot masters is an Airconditioner and another is a walking stove, and the final boss is a prototype Quint.

Back on topic, I'm sure Capcom will get back to the ip one day, just not "soon". It's not like they're gonna abandon it like how Sega did to Shenmue.

Only if Virt made the soundtrack. And I wouldn't play the game, I'd just listen to the soundtrack. Forever.

always thought I'd change to Gyarados after I turned 20 but hey, this is more fitting I guess. (also somebody registered under the original Magikarp name and I can't get back to it anymore orz)

I would like them to be the ones to make the 3DS port of Mighty No. 9. I know Renegade kid wants to do it but wayforward would do a way better job.

Didn't know about the WonderSwan Mega Man & Bass. It may be the second Mega Man & Bass game, but its not called Mega Man & Bass 2.

nope, Capcom should stop being lazy and put some effort in a new Megaman game instead of saying the fans aren't supportive enough.

goodbyes are a sad part of life but for every end there's a new beggining so one must never stop looking forward to the next dawn

A lot of fans tend to call it MM&B2 (myself included) even if it was a licensed game that was subpar compared to the first game. On the issue whether it is cannon or not, Capcom at least acknowledges its existence in the MM official complete works art book, the archie comics and in MMZX advent. Besides, I think it's redundant to have another MM&B when MM 9&10 already had 2 or more playable characters.

As for MMW6, I think the 5th game ended the series perfectly and that I'd rather have another mainline game as opposed to something that reuses the past robot masters. Yes the 5th game had its own unique bosses which is why I still think it should mark the end for the World games.

Back on topic, Wayforward does make some great Run'n gun games (Contra 4 to be exact), but no, I don't think they are the perfect match for the MM series. If Capcom decided to make another Classic game, I'm hoping they go back with Inticreates to make a non 8-bit MM game (MM9 and 10 were enough). Loved what they did with the zero, zx and the last two classic games.

Sure. I mean, I'd prefer they focus on their own IPs, but after the bang-up job they did with Contra 4, I'm convinced they'd treat the series with some love.

Only if Mighty No. 9 does not deliver. But I am sure that will not be the case.

I will comment in this thread, never being able to find it again.

as awesome as it could be, i say no. mega man is capcoms, and if they want to sit around and do nothing with it while 2d games are selling awesome then too bad for them. i would like to see way forward make another game like adventure time hey ice king why'd you steal our garbage?, even if its not adventure time, it was a great game and we need more links adventure style games.

Yeah, I'd like it, but I think I'd prefer another game with Patricia Wagon. It could be a mix of Mega Man, Metroid, Contra... anything they wanted really.
