Im looking at buying games om the 3ds eshop very soon but want to make sure I have enough space.
I am not looking at games only on the eshop so no zelda, mario kart, etc.

Will 32gb be enough or should I get a 64gb card?

Depends on the games, really.

I'd say several Resident Evil Revelations.

By the way, 32 is the maximum.

Im just trying to see if I should buy 2 cards or just 1.
I thought I read somewhere that games like Zelda were almost 1 gig.
I would like to download as many games as possible on a card.

Most eShop games clock in under 2,000 blocks. A 32GB card is around 250,000 blocks. Definitely over 100, and probably up to around 200 eShop games would fit.

Easy math:

1MB = 8 blocks
1GB = 8,192 blocks

As for Zelda being up to 1GB, A Link Between Worlds is 5,437 blocks (680MB) and Ocarina of Time is 3,644 blocks (455MB). Nintendo's first party games tend to be smaller than 3rd party, but not always. Donkey Kong Country Returns is my largest 3DS game at a whopping 17,665 blocks (2.15GB).

I'm using a 128GB card with my 3DS. You just need to reformat it to FAT32.

EDIT: Oh, I should mention that I'm assuming you mean indies by eShop games. If you're also referring to full retail games that are available only on eShop, like Phoenix Wright: Dual Destinues, those can be quite a bit larger. Phoenix Wright itself is 4,432 blocks (554MB). Others like Senran Kagura Burst are pretty bulky at 13,929 blocks (1.7GB).

Shedloads. (I have about 10000 blocks free on the 4GB it came with and 2 Retail games and loads of VC and eshop games.)

I expect instead of buying two it would be cheaper to buy one and replace it with a 64GB when it is full it will take that long.

Thank you for the responses. I think I will just buy a 64gb card and reformat it to fat32. 128gb card is a bit out of my budget right now.
There are so many games I want. I will probably buy at least 25 games the first day I get the card.

I wouldn't recommend to buy so many games in bulk ._.;

You'll have so much to choose from that you will probably waste hours just staring at the menu trying to decide what to play.

I play all my games regardless of how many I own. I have been buying games since the first gameboy color came out.....

I'd say that less than 32 gb would fit

32gb is a lot of space, I wouldn't bother buying a second 32gb until you fill the first as it is going to take awhile

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

From my experience & as someone who has filled up his Home Menu too the max. 331 Boxes, IE, Apps, Games System Stuff like Mii Maker, etc...
That's right, in order too get any more new Games & sometimes even Patches, I have too delete an old Game first.
So right now, I'm currently stuck at 30K - 40K Blocks on my 32 Gig SD Card, although Nintendo's CS said that I can get a bigger SD Card as long as it's supported by Nintendo.

Ayup, 331, the 331st is from the Hard Copy Game Cartridge.

Basically, after reaching 30 Icons on a Page of 60, your 3DS will create another Page.

Unfortunately for me though, it stopped after reaching 5 Pages.

So even though I have 29 empty Boxes available, I still can't fill those up as well.

So far, I'm S.O.L. with Nintendo because I'm the only one who has this problem, apparently, I've reached a Firm Ware Limit on my 3DS XL.

And no, I'm not getting 2nd SD Card, I did not buy a 32 Gig SD Card just so that I'd have too buy another one, I want them all on 1 SD Card.

@Robo-Knight have you tried using folders? or that changes nothing?

You will need to get a second card, and divvy up the app sizes better. For 3DS applications/games the size will vary a lot, 32 gig basically ensures you will have space for a lot of full sized games and media. It's that media that people tend to use the most space on, @Robo-Knight, and thus why a 32 gig SD card is appealing. But if you are planning on a bunch of small games, use the one that comes with the unit instead for those, and save the 32 gig one for full sized games. That would be my recommendation.

Though a limit in icons does seem a bit petty, there is a logical reason for it, at least I hope so. Most likely it's a system memory limitation, it likes to load everything at once for some reason. While that method works to speed up access, it does create severe limitations in things like .... the number of icons it can load.

I plan on picking up a 32gb card soon. Does a class 4 or class 10 card make a difference?
Thanks all for the help.
