Topic: Is $40 Too High for A New DS Game (In The U.S.)?

In these economic times, I think so... which is why I usually buy all my DS games on clearance at Target or Wal-Mart or elsewhere. Target can have some pretty good DS stuff on clearance, mine does anyway... $9 for Drawn To Life and The Price is Right (and I play TPIR way more than Drawn, lol.) Anyway.. what do u guys think? Is $40 (after tax) too much for a new DS Game ($34.95 for a really good title)? If not, what are some other outlets and ways you've gone to buy new games for cheaper? Suggestions are welcome!

Amazon often has discounts, and you can usually get free shipping I think. There's also always buying used.

Personally, I think more than $35 is too much for DS game. I paid $40 for Bowser's Inside Story, but that involved shipping to China, so that's where the added cost was.

I am way too lazy to think of something clever.

Me too! That's why I shop the clearance bins at Target, etc... Wal-mart seems to have alot more "junkware" games like "my secret prom lol whatever" and i hate those... Line Rider 2... who plays that? So yeah, I find some great stuff at Target and at pawn shops!

Amazon and Frys Electronics have probably the best deals

Yes, yes it is. I personally never pay more than $20 for a DS game, but I don't think any DS game should be more than $30. $40 is simply rediculous!

IF my sister comes with me, when she's not working, then I get a discount on games from Gamestop, and I also have an edge card, which takes off I think 10 percent of the price or something.

Many of the DS games at that price are worth it though, and thus I have no problem with it.

StarBoy91

Well, Chrono Trigger was about $40 for the DS iirc, and every other DS title I bought seemed less; especially The Legendary Starfy.

To each their own

Xkhaoz

I think that it's too high. DS games should cost $30, if not $20. Oh, and @StarBoy91, I've seen Chrono Trigger for only $20.

Chrono Trigger is now on my discount rack for $15, but the Legendary Starfy still is the same price. Along with Super Mario 64 DS. I mean, seriously

it really depends. solid, quality titles, like Bowser's Inside Story or TWEWY, yeah, i was willing to fork over the dough for. other stuff, though, i might wait to find used instead.

For me that is a great price. Here the DS games are around $50

For most DS games, it's a bit much, but there are still quite a few DS games worth that price imo. So as long as not all DS games jump that high, only the best ones, I'm good with it.

There can only be one, like in that foreign movie where there could only be one, and in the end there is only one dude left, because that was the point.

Exactly. I never pay that price though. The most I will pay for a game is $50 Au, but that is really rare. There is enough competition on promotional pricing to get plenty I want for $40 Au at most.

However, I import most of the good games I want from playasia.com and maybe dvdboxoffice.com and they are a hell of a lot cheaper than local, plus, you get many games long before a local release - especially Harvest Moon games (which I love)and many big RPGs.

I hate to be the one to tell you this, but I just saw TWEWY (The World Ends With You) at Wal-Mart for $15 and there were tons of them. I guess people aren't buying them or...? Anyway, just a heads up to all of you RPG fans out there! I bought the new Price is Right 2010 edition instead since I'm a game show freak (and I am loving the new improved gameplay and graphics, btw!)

(a) it might've been 29.99; seriously, i don't remember what I paid for it because i bought it last year.
(b) I didn't want to wait a year to play it, I wanted to play it last year, when it came out. Again, if it's a quality game and I have read multiple reviews saying it's good, I'll fork over the dough for it, but otherwise, i'll wait until it turns up used or something where I get it for less than initial retail price. :3
