Topic: The reason I pre-ordered amiibos right away is because I saw all this coming

You know when amiibos were originally announced at last year's E3 I saw this amazing Mario figure and saw the 14 they had. The endless possibilities that could come from this. After years of shoving Mario and Pokemon toys in my face finally I can have Nintendo stuff across the board. Yet something irked me. Why is it the only video I saw covering the booth at the time was this one?

Did nobody care? Game journalists across the board should have flooded their websites with interviews asking questions. The only answer given was by IGN saying that all Smash characters will get amiibo but what does that mean? Are all Mii fighters getting separate amiibos or are they together? Are they even included in those getting amiibos?
How far do Nintendo plan to take these things? Are they just some throwaway like the DK bongos or they in for the long haul? What happens if they fail? Will all Smash characters still get amiibos then?
Finally, is there a shortage expected?

All these journalists sit back and play victim while firing shots at Nintendo for not warning them about this but you know what journalists, you failed at your jobs. You didn't do your jobs correctly. Yes I say that. I had all these questions but you guys never asked them. The only thing we got out of them was price and a vague answer that all Smash characters will have amiibos. It was only AFTER launch day came and they sold out that you guys cared.

I never intended to buy all the amiibos but I can understand the frustrations of those of you that do. Yes right now Nintendo needs to get it's act together but don't pretend like they are the only failures here. The fact is the shortages were brought about because game journalists failed to do their jobs correctly and ask questions to warn you all that figures might disappear in 5 minutes.

My excitement was in full gear and I had an absolute tonne of questions. Yet nobody bothered to ask them.

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

Game Journalists are pretty damn terrible nowadays for the most part, but to claim they are at fault for Nintendo's horrible Amiibo practices...you really are reaching for someone else to blame.

Nintendo's horrible Amiibo practices? huh? are kids still pretending Nintendo did something wrong by releasing an amiibo line with no idea how big it would be? Nintendo were struggling a bit last year, before they released amiibo, they were struggling to build hype. Then remember the Gamecube adaptor for Wii U? Remember Smash 4? Majora's Mask 3D? What else happened around there? There was more but of course the big one was amiibo, nobody had a clue how popular they would be straight off the bat. nobody had a clue how popular any of that stuff would be. amiibo require 5 months of production, Reggie said it himself.

so what horrible practices? busting their gut to make sure you get exactly what you want? quadrupling production so you can get your Shulk figurine? honestly, have a go at Nintendo all you like, but do it with some truth in your statements, don't just tow the "bloody Nintendo" line like a sheep.

journalists are partyly to blame for the agenda they all have and the anti-Nintendo stigma they always shove into everything they write. they want you to go with this false notion that Nintendo are inept or greedy or out of touch. it's nonsensical to me. but i understand journos are gutter trash, perhaps some don't yet. but if you really wanna blame people for the amiibo shortages just blame each other, you're the ones buying them. why blame the company putting them out there for you? because they couldn't predict how successful they'd be?? did you want them to overprint all the amiibo, an unbelievably risky financial decision at the time?

The shortages are Nintendos fault. Nobody else's. The rest is just noise.

technically true but adds absolutely nothing. i mean it's not like it's sony's fault. but to imply it's their "fault" something went "wrong" is childish and short-sighted

Apologist. The retailers in America could easily do what Game and Nintendo UK did here back in Spring and limit customers or take measures to stop it. martinskrtel is right. You are a sheep following what you are told to fit in with the crowd.

Don't pretend like Iwata didn't warn you. He said it before amiibos came out.
