Wave one is confirmed to be Marth, Villager, and Wii Fit Trainer. Wave two will probably be Diddy Kong, Little Mac, and Captain Falcon. Maybe only one or two of the three. Wave three would probably be Ike and Sheik. Your thoughts?

When did confirmation occur? The last thing I heard was this https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2014/12/nintendo_maintains_i...

I also think the main problem is with the stores and not Nintendo. If stores ordered more of those figures, Nintendo would have made more.

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

I think Wii Fit Trainer, Villager, Marth, Pit and maybe Diddy Kong will be discontinued.

Out of wave 3 and 4, I think Meta Knight, Shulk, and maybe King Dedede.

Still not confirmation and that is an older news story. Stores should just order more.

Pit? I thought that he was pretty popular.

Some amiibo were very popular at launch, but be assured that we have not discontinued any. It is possible that some amiibo in the United States, Canada and Latin America may not be available right now due to high demand and our efforts to manage shelf space during the launch period, but may return to these markets at a later stage. We are continually aiming to always have a regular supply of amiibo in the marketplace and there are many waves of amiibo to come. The distribution and availability of amiibo in other regions around the world may be different.

Sincerely,

Nintendo of America Inc.

They'll all be discontinued eventually

I came to this thread to say this, but you beat me.

But I guess for soonish discontinuation, I don't see Little Mac, Duck Hunt, Ike, Wii Fit Trainer, Pac Man or Captain Falcon staying around. I don't think he will be, but Pit better not be discontinued before I can buy a couple of him. The villager is rumored to be discontinued, but they are going to make a new animal crossing in the near future, probably, so he might stick around. Or perhaps the Smash edition of him will be discontinued and new villager amiibos will come at a later date with the next AC installment. Actually, the Smash editions of a lot of characters might get discontinued and replaced by newer models of those characters when there are new installments to their franchises. The Smash bros. set could be a guinea pig set to see how a range of figures like this would sell, and they are selling pretty well.

Currently playing: Smash Bros. 3DS, Xenoblade Chronicles, Alpha Sapphire.

I think all of wave 2 (barring Pit... hopefully. He IS prominent on the cover of the game after all) Will be discontinued. Honestly, probably only the Pokémon, Mario, Link (the other Zelda characters will be discontinued I'm sure) characters will stay on shelves, because that is what Nintendo thinks will sell well. Also, Captain Falcon may not be discontinued as fast as we think. He DOES in fact have an extra feature in MK8, and it seems like those characters are here to stay. So make of that what you will.

Every character that isn't from Mario, Zelda or Pokemon. Also most of those characters as well.
OK, everyone except Mario, Luigi, Peach, Yoshi, Bowser, Pikachu and Link.

I think Nintendo's plan was that any Amiibo that didn't have connectivity to any other game apart from Smash would be quickly be discontinued. For example, Mario, Peach, DK, Luigi, Yoshi, Samus, Kirby, Fox, Link and Cpt Falcon are all connective to MK8, so it's unlikely any of them are going to become unavailable soon. It's unlikely Marth and Wii Fit Trainer are going to be used by other games, or Ike, Pit, or Little Mac. I could see Shulk being used in one or both of the Xenoblade games, and Meta Knight and Dedede being used in Kirby. It's also only a matter of time until the Pokémon are going to get connectivity in a game.

If you have a game that can be connected with an Amiibo, you probably want that Amiibo. If you have an Amiibo that can be connected to a game, you probably want to buy that game. It's tying sales of one product to another.

Saying that, since demand is so strong for Amiibo, I can see Nintendo bringing back the one's people want but couldn't get AFTER the starting line up of Smash has been released.

Isn't it obvious that Falco Lombardi is actually a parrot?

The only one out of the forbidden 3 that I wanted was Wii Fit Trainer, and I originally thought that she would be pretty common, so I decided to wait a bit. Boy was I wrong.

King Dedede is definitely going to stay. It has to be in such high demand.

I don't have an idea of which would be discontinued, but I think it would be a bad idea to officially discontinue any right now.

As we can see from Villager, Marth, and WFT, there's demand for even the less popular ones (likely why supply was low for these) so if they resupply those instead of discontinuing them they might still make good money from them.

However, with the holiday season coming to an end, their chance has passed to really push the first and second waves. It's possible they might focus on the third wave and later, and hopefully by then they would have their supply issues in order. Personally I can't see them discontinuing any amiibos at least until until after wave three and four (NA). By then we will probably have more details about amiibos and how they function in other games as well.

Or maybe I don't know what I'm talking about and just don't want Nintendo to discontinue any of them.

I have each one X 10 and + more of some and they will discontinue all of them eventually which puts me making easy money from my hobby without losing a cent on which ones I want to keep I am the one that has the most knowledge on this subject by far. I also suggest you guys to pick up Fox before its too late haha.

None of them.Nintendo is making too much money off of amiibo to just discontinue figures that will make them lots of money.

Mario Smash figure. I think they want to get a generic Mario figure out in stores pretty fast. While the others will keep enough demand to keep stores ordering a small amount for a while. (Half joking)
