Topic: I don't want Nintendo to abandon Amiibo, I want them to make more use of them.

I am a pretty big Amiibo fan. I have far more than any sane adult really should have. Amiibo make for awesome collectibles on their own, but I feel like Nintendo has really missed out on making a Skylanders-esk game that supports all Amiibo. There are plenty of routes they could take but I think the best would be to make the game itself Free to play, with your "Mii" as a generic start character. You could then unlock any Amiibo you have to join you on some sort of a quest.(I would follow the each Amiibo is one use every 24 hours pattern) This is probably the one frame where I actually think a free-to-play, pay to play more, model is actually perfect. I think the best route would be making the game a sort of successor to the Mii Plaza on 3DS. Using amiibo as replacement for Streetpass Miis. It would be cool if the more you used certain Amiibo, the stronger they would become. Much like Streetpassing the same person over and over gave you a stronger Mii to use. They could even let you save your Mii to an Amiibo, and then use that Mii in a friend's game, save rewards to bring back to your game.

Another idea I've long wished for are special Amiibo based Pokemon Cards. Now Amiibo cards are more expensive than regular cards, so I don't mean for all cards to support it. But special promo cards, rare cards or event cards could unlock something in the up-coming Pokemon 2019 RPG, or even be supported in the Let's Go titles. Pokemon has really ignored Amiibo at this point and that decision utterly baffles me! It seems like a match made in heaven!

All in all I want Amiibo to remain an optional but enjoyable goodie that Nintendo puts a little more effort into. They are really nice to collect, some of the best figures for Nintendo and other characters around, but I wish Nintendo would use them more.

It's a tricky line to tread when it comes to amiibo functionality too much and people declare them physical pay wall, too little and they are an irrelevance. It's something I don't really think Nintendo has truly gotten right other than in Smash 4 which is probably why they are making such a big deal of amiibo in Ultimate.

I totally agree that Nintendo should do a true amiibo game. If you know going in that functionality is held behind the figures then you make that part of the game and people are more open to it. The amiibo line is so varied that such a game could have a really wide appeal as well as allowing the introduction of more characters that haven't so far had an excuse to become amiibo. The toys to life genre does seem to be in a slump at the moment with amiibo the only surviving brand but Ubisoft must see some potential to be releasing Starlink. A true amiibo game could be just what the doctor ordered to revive the genre.

At least it's given us some cracking figures at affordable prices!

I think Starlink may end up being the best model for toys to life. If I recall correctly, Ubisoft confirmed all the content received from the toys in Starlink can be purchased on the eshop/PSN store/Microsoft store as DLC. So you don't lose out by not buying the physical toys but if you want the toys you can have them.

That approach applied to amiibo could be cool.

I think the best usage of amiibo is when they unlock costumes like in Yoshi's Woolly World and Mario Kart 8. It would be nice if they did that for more games (I'm still baffled as to why there are no amiibo costumes in Splatoon). To be honest I didn't really see the point in the amiibo fighters in Smash Bros.

@8-Bit_Superman , The Skylander thing lost me...long time again. Not enough magic behind the Skylanders so they died a slow amiibo cuts. Also the collecting is the other factor those whom do that is a challenge to find all of them. Just like Pokemon phrase "gota catch them all" or something like that.

Nintendo's never gonna stop with amiibo, it's obvious everyone's buying them just for collector's items and not for gameplay functions.

Actuall that is misleading as well. You don't have to buy all of them to just play specific games. But having more is better. It's the collectors like me that will always go for completed Amiibo series but gamers just need the one for that game like example BoTW Zelda Amiibos right now some are almost ghost finds and some are out there but prices will spikes when the re-released sells out. So watch out...is what I am warning.

At this point, amiibos have made so much money and for such cheap products. It's all about marketing.

Point? They are making money for NIN just think they are re-releasing SSB Amiibo those will most likely sell out faster then they can make them. And I for one am lucky I got the completed SSB already. Any Amiibo they make I like the rest will be there to get them. The Amiibos serve dual functions-Looks and Amiibo usage in NSW and 3DS games. That's alot more then other stuff you get for the price they sell at.
