I've been thinking about this for a little while and I'm not sure if this has been posted in another topic, but with the upcoming release of the Pokémon Bank service, what if Nintendo integrated Game Boy era Pokémon games with the Pokémon Bank? Would you be interested in purchasing the older titles on Virtual Console?
Personally, I haven't played Pokémon since the original Red and Blue, so there's a lot of Pokémon story and settings I've missed out on. I would definitely purchase the older games on Virtual Console if it were easy to catch and transfer Pokémon from those various games into one place (Pokémon Bank) without having to worry about cables and counterfeit Pokémon and such.
What about you, what do you think about Pokémon releases with modified Bank support?
What is the meaning of life? That's so easy, the answer is TETRIS.
Good idea in theroy, but since the way the individual Pokemon were programmed was changed completely between generations 2 and 3, it would be practically impossible unless they completely remade the GameBoy games for them to be compatible.

only Pokemon that would really benefit from this idea is Porygon, and Arceus forbid someone try to put missigno. in the bank....

Why do they need to add anything more to the old GB games beyond download play to simulate the Link Cable? If you want the Pokemon Bank, online play, and the other new features go buy X & Y.
Personally, I would love to see Gen I and Gen II arrive on the VC. Those games were great single player games, and it would be a great way to reintroduce the early Pokemon games to a new generation.
One of the main problems is that the code of the early Pokemon games is very fragile, so it would be difficult to add features to the old game. Gen I especially had very fragile code. Even adding Download Play to simulate the Link Cables might be a challenge for Nintendo.
Plus, I would rather see the games come out in the orginal form. That's one of the joys of the VC, being able to play the games as they were so many years ago.
It would have its own Pokémon Bank since the original GB games are far too different to today's games.
Since the games themselves won't be altered, the way to do it is to trade with a "virtual player", actually the Pokemon Bank. Whatever Pokémon you trade gets sent to the Bank and you could choose from the Bank which Pokemon from the Bank you want to be sent. Or if you just want to do a one way trade, you would get a useless level 1 Magikarp in return.
From the Pokemon Bank, you would be able to freely trade between other players online. But again, the original GB games would have its own Pokemon Bank and not use the modern games Pokemon Bank.
Edgey, Gumshoe, Godot, Sissel, Larry, then Mia, Franziska, Maggie, Kay and Lynne.
I'm throwing my money at the screen but nothing happens!
