@kingston589 - You also need to consider time and effort, not just money and luck, when deciding between a VC service like the 3DS eShop or GOG and retro collecting. Many people don't have the time or ability to head to garage sales to look for deals, and would rather just play the games and compromise part of the experience. For a similar experience, see Spotify/iTunes vs. collecting vinyl in terms of listening to music.

Exactly.

Actually, since Kirby's Dream Land 2 came out yesterday on the 3DS VC, I really don't think Nintendo has anymore classic handheld games to entertain me with. So I'm pretty content with what's on there now.

I love Donkey Kong Land, and I would buy both the Donkey Kong Country trilogy from the SNES and the Donkey Kong Land trilogy from the Game Boy on my 3DS. There's also the Pokemon games, but that's Game Freak's decision. Other than that, I wouldn't be buying anymore future Nintendo handheld classics until the GBA comes. I'll still be buying some Game Gear games, though. I wasn't ever a Sega person, so the only franchises that I know about are Sonic, Ecco the Dolphin, Shinobi, Wonder Boy, Streets of Rage, and Golden Axe. Are there are other popular Sega games that I should look forwards to?

Todays Virtual Console library on the 3ds is way too small. Others have probably said this before, but I would have been very happy if Nintendo could at least given us one GB/GBA/Game Gear and one NES game each week. Then they could have built up a solid library of Virtual Console games, and at the same time the games would not be as easily forgotten as if a lot of games released every week. I would probably not have bought half of the games released but from time-to-time there would come classics. I think handheld games are most important, but NES games are a nice addition to eshop.

"NES games are a nice addition to eshop." I quoted your entire message, but that one message I have to quote again. Before I talk about that, I would like to say that Nintendo has been adding First Party Games every two or three weeks recently. Super Mario Bros. 2, Kirby's Dream Land 2, and now Donkey Kong. On top of that, we had Shantae a week after Super Mario Bros. 2 which is a really good game. Also, filling in the gaps from the Legend of Zelda GBC releases in late May, Sega was there for the entire month of June and early July to help fill the gaps with some amazing Game Gear games. I bought Sonic the Hedgehog almost immediately after the release date.

This is really good, and I wouldn't mind seeing Super Mario Bros. 3 weeks after Donkey Kong. I also wouldn't mind seeing Donkey Kong 3 after that, and then Devil World three weeks after that, and then Mario Bros, and finally Mach Rider. I listed first-party games from Japan's Virtual Console that should be in the North American Virtual Console. However, if a good game such as Double Dragon comes out in replacement of a few weeks, that's fine. I also wouldn't mind Sega Genesis 3D Classics filling in a couple of weeks. As long as good games keep on coming up every couple of weeks. At least one or two good games a month is good enough for me. As long as it isn't too quickly so Nintendo would run out of games.

Now, back to what I quoted. I am in love with how you could use NES games on 3DS. That is an actual "Virtual Console." Playing Legend of Zelda or Super Mario Bros. on the go is amazing, and I love it. To me, handheld games are good, but not important. I never like how bland the Game Boy games were, and I would prefer to buy NES games over the Game Boy titles. Also, they are running out of Game Boy titles anyway. There isn't too much out there, and most of them are just "portable" versions of the NES or SNES games that have no color. Game Gear games are also good, but I just see them as the Master System Virtual Console with a few extra games because most Game Gear games are just rereleases of the Master System games. Console games are awesome, and are a huge support to the Virtual Console library. I would love to play the NES games on my Wii U. However, until Nintendo implemates the ability to play the same game on my two different systems, I don't think I would purchase the same game twice.
