The Shining Force one I'm playing at the moment is about that length too (4 chapters around 2 hours each) and it's awesome... Highly recommended mate
crap i was hoping shining force was longer then that....... looks like most my cash be going back to the vita... few more bucks i can get grandia or another ps1 classic with 60 to 80 hours of play
I started the game and I find it quite similar to ''Sword of Hope II'' in the battle format. If you asking yourselves whether to pick ''Shining Force: Sword of Hajya'' or this one, I would say take both because they are two great games.
Defenders of Oasis is okay. Its a simple RPG but shame on anyone expecting more from the Game Gear. Story is light with only the briefest of explanations. If you like RPGs and VC games, then go ahead and download it.
Edgey, Gumshoe, Godot, Sissel, Larry, then Mia, Franziska, Maggie, Kay and Lynne.
I'm throwing my money at the screen but nothing happens!
What's the level cap on characters in Defenders of Oasis? i've already played 3 1/2 hours and i'm still on the 2nd chapter... It's a bit of a disappointment to find out from people that it's not a very long game, I was hoping it was more in line with The Sword of Hope II in terms of quality, but oh well.

I really love this game! I think the main appeal of it, is that it's an RPG that takes on a different perspective. It's really nice to see an RPG, from the 90s of all times, that takes on the setting of Arabic fantasy literature, instead of the typical European medieval fantasy theme. I was a bit disappointed when I saw how... white the main character looks. But in the second chapter you actually get a party member who is brown! It may not seem like much, but unfortunately when it comes to entertainment, even that is a bit of a small victory.
As for the length, I'm not expecting it to be very long, being a Game Gear title. Though I was impressed when I got to the boss of chapter 2 only to discover that I should have grinded a bit more first. Did not expect to have my ass handed to me! Honestly, any RPG fan should pick up this title. Nice classic RPG game, and the novelty of experiencing a nice change of theme makes up for its length.
I just started playing and just got to the key to the treasure. I'm enjoying it so far and its one of the better early handheld RPGS and is much better than Sword of Hope II so far.
I really like the setting of this and the other Oasis branded games.
WAT!

I've just bought Defenders of Oasis on the 3ds VC and it seems like a great little hidden gem so far. I've beaten the first chapter and while it is a simple game, it's not badly presented. The story is basic, but it's still interesting and serious. I don't want to spoil anything but people literally die very early on. I'm actually glad its not a 30 hour+ game. I'd find it hard to stay interested for that long unless the game was top top quality. Really enjoying it and get to say I'm still using the virtual console in (almost) 2020.
