3D, bad? This is the first I've heard of this. A select FEW dislike 3D in any form, true, but I thought that Nintendo's implementation in the 3DS was always considered quite good.

If Kid Icarus Uprising was a 2D Platformer, I think it would have been easily comparable to the Subspace Emissary, not to mention there isn't plenty of depth in 2D Platforming anymore
