First of all, I gotta say that this is a great game! I've already beaten it twice, and am enjoying the fun gameplay, great audio, the 3D visuals, etc.
That said, there's no way I could suggest it to anyone at $30. I just don't understand the logic behind such pricing?!?! I'd be shocked if this game didn't get a permanent price reduction asap. It's going to bomb selling for $30.
If it drops down to $10 though, I'd highly recommend it. It's a great game being weighed down by arrogant (or ignorant) pricing

Thanks for the report.
I kinda want to shell out for it, but then I have a feeling the publisher knows they set a high price and a reduction will be a priority at some point.
I would have bought it by now if I could. (I would have paid full price + import duty for Kokuga if I had the option).
If even the best shmups are struggling to sell 4000 copies worldwide then I don't mind paying a premium for them.
If I have to pay more to make it so they can keep being made then I don't mind. (I feel quite differently about it to buying some Nintendo game I am not interested in).
There is no TG16 VC so its the only option really (Presuming it gets released in the EU).
It is still less than the Japanese Megadrive Cart goes for.

This looks like a pretty solid game, but no way am I shelling out $30 for it.
right, we need to get nintendo to make it 60$ that way its more desirable to the masses.
please understand

As @ogo79 said, the SNS-RZ-USA is a prime giveaway that it's not a legit retail cart.
And yes, he is (usually) always right, and he is (almost) the sexiest gamer out there (not counting me) ;)
I doubt I would have paid $30 for Scram Kitty, and I was dying to get that one and I loved it to death once I got it.
For Yumi's Odd Odyssey I paid it because I knew it was a retail game in terms of polish and content, plus the gameplay was unique enough (my first Umihara Kawase) and I wanted to support the localization effort of such a quirky, niche game.
Now for this even $20 would be pushing it, at least for me.
I will comment in this thread, never being able to find it again.
I was planning to get this right away for $30, but so many people complained about the price I suspect a sale will happen, so I'll wait as long as I still have other games to play I guess.
They're probably just milking the early adopters with this price point. They'll drop it when people aren't buying it. And the majority of 3DS owners are NOT going to spend $30 on a retro schmup like this unless they're buying an actual cartridge.
I'd prefer not to pay over $10 for this, but the review was strong enough that I'd probably go so far as to pay $15. Not a penny more.
I got Rhythm Thief for £5 but I have not even touched it yet. (Same with Pilotwings). Crazy cheap for 3DS games (And there is less disadvantages with physical than on Wii U).

So now that the game is more affordable, who bought, and what do you think? So far I did an easy playthrough with the little ship and a normal playthrough with the zeppelin, and it plays great, looks great, sounds great. I think $16 is very fair for the quality of the game: I sort of understand why they priced it at $30 based on the popularity in Japan, and while I admittedly would have forked over the $30 had everyone else not complained about it, I'm glad they finally put it on sale so people will buy it. It only takes 40 minutes to do a playthrough, but with the 2 different ships and 4 difficulties, you'll get a bunch of playthroughs. The last achievement for the game actually looks extremely difficult. I like these old games where you can play through the whole thing in one sitting and get really good at learning how to master it.
I bought it. The sale price is more than fair, the game is a ton of fun. If you like shmups, you really shouldn't pass this up.

I picked it up, it's fun to pick up and play. $15 is still a little expensive in my opinion but it is quality. Short but fun. The 3D effect is really nice too. Some of the deepest 3D on the system I think. I was glad that the difficulty on easy and normal is manageable. Haven't braved hard or difficult yet.

I agree. I wouldn't go that far on the 3D front (it is not that deep) but it is stunning and beautiful.
Game is ridiculously short but quite amazing. I want to play more games like this. Perhaps back at the VC... Played Lords of Thunder of course but would appreciate more suggestions.
