@Area57 On the "little kids" thing, here's what I think: do you enjoy movies like Toy Story 3? Well, its main characters are a toy cowboy and a toy astronaut, and it's an animation, so it's easy to conclude it's strictly for kids. It just so happens that the script is so good that it works for everyone, especially by playing into childhood nostalgia, which can be quite powerful for adults.
Such is the case with (most) kid-friendly Nintendo games. Pokémon is based on a kids' cartoon, but it features the sort of engaging, deep gameplay that can appeal to everyone who likes gaming. Mario games feature cutesy graphics, but will certainly be worth your while if you're looking for an experience that is at the same time welcoming and challenging. The same sort of reasoning can be applied to franchises such as Kirby, Donkey Kong, Luigi's Mansion, Yoshi, etc.
TL;DR: like Pixar movies, those games are mostly designed with a wide audience in mind, not just kids. And many of them are definitely worth your time.

This, plus you also got games like heroes of ruin, ghots recon shadow wars, fire emblem, tales of the abyss, ridge racer, dead or alive... plenty to choose from if you search for games aside from mario, zelda and pokemon (which you also have a lot of great ones)
Get the 3DS. It has great games like Mario Kart 7, Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS, Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Super Mario 3D Land, and many more! Better yet, get Wii U.
Because just when the system sounds awesome you read it has not mega man games, only one castlevania, no metroid, no contra, but baby games? What the f are baby games?
(My Baby DS Series)
My Baby Boy - DS
My Baby First Steps - DS
My Baby 3 & Friends - DS
Baby Life - DS (European Version)
Hello Baby - DS (European Version)
Real Stories Babies - DS (French Version) - Nursery Mania - DS (American Version) - Same game! DO NOT BUY THE AMERICAN VERISON NURSERY MANIA - DS. Real Stories Babies DS was released first & has a lot of content but all in french. Excellent game but all in french. I speak both english & french so not a problem for me but I bought the american version first & was truly appauled by it because they cut out almost 9/10 of the material out of the game. Nursery Mania - DS is basically the demo version of the real game. To leave it at that.
Shrek Ogres & Dronkey's - DS (Excellent DS game with no reading involved)
Imagine Baby Club - DS (European Version) - Imagine Babysitters - DS (American verison) - I bought both before I reliazed i had the same game lol.
Imagine Babyz Fashion - DS
Imagine Babyz - 3DS
Ok. The DS/3DS games I'd recommend from the long list (Sorry such a long list above):
Shrek Ogres & Dronkey's - DS
Imagine Babyz Fashion - DS
Imagine Babyz - 3DS
My Little Baby - 3DS
Yoshi's New Island - 3DS (It's very cutesy for a mario game)
These 3 are a series:
My Baby Boy - DS (This has 2 version's My Baby Boy - DS & My Baby Girl - DS) I had both version's there is no difference between the to except one you get a boy baby & the other you start out with a girl baby.
My Baby First Steps - DS (This one the baby grow's to the age of 2)
My Baby 3 & Friends - DS (This one the baby is at the toddler age of 3)
I don't know if your daughter like's disney or lego's but:
Disney Friends - DS
Disney Princess My FairyTale Adventure - 3DS
Lego Friends - 3DS
I love Disney Magical World - 3DS too but it has a little bit of reading in it.

Those are really fun!
Don't judge a system based on it's shovelware. Yes, there may be quite a few of those games, but the mere fact that they exist doesn't mean that every single game on the 3DS is 'childish'. Just ignore them. It's easy enough.
