Ok so, my sister took my favorite pokemon game (pokemon black 2) that I had sins I was 7 or 8 to a sleep over. One of the kids there snuck into my sisters backpack and stole the game. Anyway we moved away and now I can't get it back what so ever. Is there a way I can get it free sins I have already purchased it? If so will I loose my data? I really love this game and hate the kid who took it. Thx anyway bye.
@doff Pretty sure they're bound to your previous cartridge via some sort of encrypting, so yes, you would lose them. I'll try to find the link to the Nintendo FAQ that I've looked at least 5 times by now.
EDIT: Wait, Black 2? How could you possibly have save data from a DS game on your SD card? I never heard of that, and I know I tried with another game (Dragon Quest IX).
Ds games and most 3ds games save their data locally to the cartridge, there's no way to move it out of it, unless you use a cheating device that allows for it.
@Meowpheel Well, I know you can make a save back-up, but I believe that's only possible with 3DS games...though, I'm actually not sure if every 3DS game can do that, now that I think about it. I almost never use that feature.
That's a real shame that Black 2 was stolen; it's, in my opinion, the best Pokemon game ever made. As far as I know, there's no way to recover your save data and/or obtain a free copy from Nintendo. Good luck finding a new copy

@Meowpheel You can only backup data to the same cartridge, never from one cartridge to the other. Otherwise you'd see some weird Smash 3D pokemon.
and it does only work for 3ds games.
For clarification, this is only possible with the powersaves cheating device software, and its compatible only with what has been programmed for it. The data is saved via cloud on the datel servers, and like I mentioned, can only be used to revert or restore a version of a cartridge back to a specific save point/recording. You can't just revert one person cartridge to yours because there is no system memory recognizing that cartridge to restore it.
In other words, there is no way to get your free copy of BW with its saved data, gotta buy a copy yourself and restart. Bad luck man.
