Actually demos will be coming this fall. Anyway the 3ds and smartphones/Ipod touch are not the same thing.

I disagree completely. Especially with the 3DS and Ipod Touch not being..Well they aren't the same thing, but I would put them in the same category of devices.

I still can't believe some people don't think Smartphones and Touch's aren't competition with handheld gaming.
I guess some people still think vinyl is a valid and superior music format, so I guess it's not THAT unbelievable.

If the eShop wants to succeed it needs some game downloads.

its nice to think that and all, but Nintendo still has to deal with the fact that people are buying smartphones and iPads (especially iPads) and considering it "enough" for their gaming needs.

These are the same people who bad bought a DS and Brain Training.

Killamancer

Since people have a limited amount of money they are willing to spend on gadgets, smart phones are obviously taking away sales from handheld systems but I don't think they are directly competing with each other. When I bought my 3ds I didn't even think about smart phones and people don't buy smart phones solely for gaming. Having non game apps will not increase sales much since there is no way "business people" will bust out a 3ds to do some work.

I hate it when this happens:
Them: " I'm a hardcore gamer!"
Me: "Oh yeah? What kinds of games do you play?"
Them: "Oh, Angry Birds, Doodle Jump, Fruit Ninja..."

Do you reckon the person with the global high score of, say, Flight Control, is a hardcore gamer?

Because I sure as hell do.

Speaking of Xbox Live Arcade,
from what I've seen, many Newgrounders have games there.

It's a conspiracy, I tell you.

Have you tried to get every medal in Angry Birds? It's pretty damn hard and annoying.

nope. Unlike iOS or Android, 3DS is for games. I does other things too, but it's made for gameplay. The eShop was made so that you don't have to go to the store to buy games. And i said GAMES. Not apps, but GAMES. The 3DS was not made to be a multimedia device. It is a portable gaming system. 'Nuff Said.

3-starring every Angry Birds level is near-impossible but a lot of fun.

DSiWare had plenty of non-gaming apps, though. Remember Rhythm Core Alpha? Rytmik? Flipnotes? The Mario Clock? And the did pretty well there, too. I agree that the eShop needs more cool stuff like that. I know I'd use my 3DS as a music player more than my limited-sized iPod if it had a kickass visualizer.

Some of the visualisers are nifty already but I think they should include specific visualisers with games or something. For example the new Shinobi has the parry system so they could could have the Shinobi dude getting ninja stars thrown at him and he deflects them to the beat of the song.... I'd also be willing to pay for packs of visualisers(I'm a corporate whore).

Noo's apps and many features built into the system itself disagree with you.

I can picture you 80 years old, with pants up to your breasts shaking your fist at the winds of change, saying how much better is was back in the day things were simpler.

I've heard so much good things about the Mario clock. Is it really that great? How much does it cost? And is it transferrable to my 3DS? I have $2.00 left in my eShop account, is that enough?

Edit: I see it's worth 200 Nintendo points, but is i transferable? It's my 3DS that needs it.

Edit Edit: I found it in the eShop for $2.00 and bought it, so I guess I'll find out on my own.

Yes it's transferable. I personally find the Mario clock annoying. The choice of alarms is loud and obnoxious.

I find the Animal Crossing alarm sounds easier on the ears.
But if you love mario, and since Nintendo REMOVED the alarm feature on the 3DS..... Stupid.

The only thing I would find useful is whether and news. (Maybe a CNN app or an ESPN app because football season is soon)
