does anyone remember back in 2011, people who bought the 3DS before august 11th 2011 got 10 free NES games and 10 free GBA games to download. the NES games were released in 2012 and 2013 to the public. its been over 6 years now, and the GBA games still have not been released to the public on the 3DS (a few on the Wii U though) . i ask why not? it would seem like a great money making strategy for Nintendo to wring a bit more cash out of the 3DS line before it is replaced by the Nintendo switch (no one believes your "third pillar" stuff, Nintendo)
what do you fellow forum readers think? feel free to post in the comments (do not be rude though, that would be rude)

@Meowpheel i'd rather have a mediocre port then no port at all. that said with the new nintendo 3ds they could do a better job (newer hardware or something, idk, not a tech guy)

I have always wondered why Nintendo hasn't returned to that concept yet, especially since the New 3DS is becoming more common on store shelves. I mean, I would've liked to see the GBA Pokémon games on the New 3DS, as well as Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga (I know it got remade on 3DS, but I still want to play the real deal original one after I lost my original copy...), Super Mario Advance games that aren't Yoshi's Island (which got ported for Ambassadors), etc.
On the case of the new 3DS, my best guess would be that by the point we got the new 3DS, GBA games were being treated as an attractive new exclusive feature for the WiiU, and by the time the WiiU died, making a new GBA emulator for the new 3DS was considered not worth their time; their interest in Virtual Console as a whole was diminishing by that point.
Judging by the amount of SNES games they released, it's also possible that the general public didn't show much interest in new 3DS-exclusive Virtual Console titles.
And, they could be saving them for some other console in the future. Like Mother 3.
@Mr-X9000 instead of having a single emulator installed on a console to run all the games from a particular platform nintendo likes to bundle the emulator with each individual game. I can’t say for sure but I suspect this is part of the problem

They've released quite a few at this point. Nearly all of the SNES games I wanted to replay have been released.
As an avid user of the 3DS because it was my main gaming device for 4+ years, there was/are wayyy to many good games on the actual 3DS or even on the DS (backward compatibility) to care about virtual console GBA games. at least that's what i thought about it.
