Topic: DSiWare Back Catalogue on the eShop?

I know it's early days yet, but I was a bit disappointed that there were so few of the DSiWare games available in the eShop. I had assumed most transferable DSiWare games would be available for the 3DS.
I'm keeping my XL and will not transfer any of my DSiWare games as I want them there. However, I had hoped to be able to buy a few of them again to use on my 3DS, such as the "Notebook" and "Diary", a couple of the recent Mahjong games and Art Academy for starters. There are also loads of other replayable games that would be nice to have available.
Does anyone have any idea what Nintendo plans to do about the DSiWare back catalogue in relation to the 3DS eShop?

It seems to be a common problem that people think that the games in the DSiWare Highlights section are the only DSiWare games on there.

You can go to the search filters section and choose DSiWare for the platform and you can browse the rest or simply save time by typing "digger"* into the search box on the main screen to find what you want directly.

*Other DSiWare games are also available.

I just checked and the games you mentioned are on there. The games in the dsiware highlights section aren't the only dsiware games on the eshop. If you out a dsiware game in the search box on the main menu, you should be able to find it.

I transferred my DSi games yesterday and aside from the list Nintendo provides (EJ, Asphalt 4 etc.) they are all present. The search function is presented differently than the DSi shop but once you transfer a title you can re-download them from the e-shop anytime. In regards to the titles you mentioned myNotebook and MyDiary are present but Art Academy cannot be transferred. Its blocked on the transfer list.

Yeah, unless you truly know what you're looking for, using the eShop to browse for DSiWare is a mess at best. I know it may not be Nintendo's favorite platform they've worked on, but they really need to improve DSiWare on the eShop.

Exactly.

I just double checked and you cannot purchase Art Academy on the e-shop. Its not there. But anything by Nnoo is still there.

Aww! Gee, thanks everybody. I've just found them, and mariofanatic128 is correct - Art Academy First and Second Semester are now available (on the Nintendo Europe website at least). However, it's very difficult to find what you want as you only get the option to search via a narrow range of filters and then get offered games in small groups in a random order (not alphabetical). Then you have to tap on "next" and wait while maybe another group will come up. Nintendo could have done better surely. I need to use Nintendolife's reviews for the publisher and genre to aid with the filters, I reckon

games have search tags, so i guess searching for "art" or "paint" will show Art Academy and searching for "Fish" will show any fish related game, including games without "fish" in the name.

So, unless what you really want to do is window shopping i think it's fine, even then you can simply seach for "DSiWare" and youll get every single DSiWare for you to see.

Thanks abgar, I actually found that my 3DS got a bit better at the searching after I had been at it for a while -
or maybe I got better at it
YES! I think probably it was me - apologies Nintendo.
Once again, thanks to everybody for all the help.

The best thing to do if you want to know what's in the back catalogue, is use Nintendo Life's page of DSiWare games reviews. I find it really handy because often games come out when I really can't afford them, then by the time I get some spare cash I forgot what I wanted. If you're new to DSiWare, there's a boatload to look through. Happy shopping!!

@Abgar - Are you able to transfer your copy of Art Academy? It looks like @Afrancio still doesn't see it, and you're both in NA. @Mowzle and I are both in the UK. Maybe it's a regional thing?

@Victoria or just click the games tab under the DSiware tab.
I couldn't find the domo games on there. I thought they were supposed to be added...
