Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time (Switch)

One of Level-5's surprise reveals on February 2023, Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time brings back returning characters and new faces on an all-new island. You'll be able to travel to the past as well as take on whatever jobs you want in this one, although you'll have to wait until 10th October 2024.

Sonic X Shadow Generations (Switch)

Sonic Generations, one of the most beloved 3D Sonic games, is making its grand return with tons of brand-new content in Sonic X Shadow Generations. Alongside a complete remaster of the original game, you'll also be getting a new campaign featuring Shadow the Hedgehog. You'll be able to team up with the blue blur and the ultimate lifeform in Fall 2024.

Ys X: Nordics (Switch)

Adol Christin returns and is taking to the high seas in Ys X: Nordics, the latest instalment in Falcom's long-running action RPG series. You'll be able to play as adventurer Adol or Norman pirate Karja and combine their strength for a new spin of the action-packed Ys combat. Naval combat, exploration, and more await when Ys X slashes onto Switch in Fall 2024.

Laika: Aged Through Blood (Switch eShop)

How do you update the ever-popular Metroidvania genre? Turn it into a 'Motorvania', that's how. Laika: Aged Through Blood launched on Steam in 2023 to extremely positive reviews, and the Switch version of this motorbike action-platformer was originally coming in January 2024 but has received a last-minute delay on Switch to an unspecified 2024 date.

Blade Chimera (Switch eShop)

Metroidvania masters Team Ladybug are returning to the genre in 2024 with the gorgeous-looking futuristic action game Blade Chimera. Set in the futuristic Dark Osaka, you'll explore an occult-inspired world which blends the supernatural with cyberpunk. It looks stunning, and we can't wait to get our hands on it sometime in 2024.

Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed (Switch eShop)

If 2024 is the year of the Wii and 3DS, then we're more than happy to welcome it with open arms. Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed is a faithful remake of the 2010 Wii platformer which gave the world a more mischievous side to Mickey Mouse. New controls and visuals are just a few of the things we'll get to experience when we paint the canvas later in 2024.

DECAPOLICE (Switch)

Well, if Level-5's return wasn't surprising enough, then a brand-new IP from the developer that looks absolutely fantastic certainly was. Decapolice is an open-world detective RPG that has bundles of style. The game got some extremely positive reception at Tokyo Game Show 2023, and it's due out at some point in 2024.

Loco Motive (Switch eShop)

Described as "a blend of Monkey Island and Murder on the Orient Express" by creative director Adam Riches, Loco Motive is a point-and-click that embraces the humorous and the silly. Announced back in 2021, we're hoping this will crack the case and arrive on the Switch later in 2024.

Metal Slug Tactics (Switch eShop)

First unveiled at E3 2021 and confirmed for Switch in the August Indie World Showcase, Metal Slug Tactics was heading to Switch sometime in 2022 before getting pushed into 2023. Things have been relatively silent for the tactical RPG, however, so we assume it's coming in 2024, now.

Dotemu is on publishing duties for this isometric turn-based take, with Leikir Studio developing. Sonic Mania composer Tee Lopes is also working on the soundtrack, so there's no shortage of talent involved. We've got a good feeling about this one.

The Plucky Squire (Switch)

Former Pokémon art director James Turner surprised us all with a new studio and a new game in The Plucky Squire, which is a particularly enticing piece of eye candy that looks like it's going to dominate video game discussion when it comes out in 2024. It's got this really wonderful 2D-3D hybrid thing going on, with a storybook art style that we know we're going to love.
