Update (26th July, 17:20 BST): The games have now officially been announced at QuakeCon 2019 and confirmed to be releasing today on Nintendo Switch, PS4 and Xbox One. To the eShop!
Update (26th July, 15:40 BST): And suddenly, links to all three of these DOOM pages have been removed from Nintendo UK's website.
Did someone at Nintendo jump the gun here? A possible leak from QuakeCon taking place this weekend? It certainly seems so. Hopefully all the games will release today as originally stated.
Original Article: (26th July, 15:00 BST): To celebrate DOOM's 25th anniversary, the original 1993 DOOM, DOOM II and DOOM 3 have all magically appeared on the Nintendo Switch eShop. Say whaaaat?!
Yep, all three games have just appeared on Nintendo's official UK site and they're all coming out today. They're not actually live to buy on the eShop just yet strangely, but we assume they'll be ready to purchase very soon indeed. We've got the rundown on all three below:
DOOM (1993 Original)
Celebrate DOOM’s 25th anniversary with the re-release of the original DOOM (1993). First released in 1993, DOOM introduced millions of gamers to the fast-paced, white-knuckle, demon-slaying action the franchise is known for.
Experience the classic demon-blasting fun that popularized the genre home or on-the-go
- The expansion, Episode IV: Thy Flesh Consumed, with 9 additional action-packed levels
- Local 4 player deathmatch
- Local 4 player co-op
DOOM II (Classic)
Celebrate DOOM's 25th anniversary with the re-release of DOOM II. This beloved sequel to the groundbreaking DOOM (1993) gave players the brutal Super Shotgun to bear against deadlier demons, and the infamous boss, the Icon of Sin.
Battle the demon hordes at home or on-the-go on Nintendo Switch.
- The Master Levels, 20 additional levels made by the community and supervised by the developers
- Local 4 player multiplayer
- Local 4 player co-op
DOOM 3
Celebrate DOOM's 25th anniversary with the release of DOOM 3, available for the first time on Nintendo consoles.
In this critically acclaimed action-horror re-telling of the original DOOM, players must battle their way through a demon-infested facility before entering the abyss to battle Hell's mightiest warrior - and put an end to the invasion.
DOOM 3 includes the Resurrection of Evil and The Lost Missions expansion packs.
DOOM and DOOM II are both priced at £3.99; DOOM 3 is slightly more expensive at £7.99.
Well, that was a nice surprise! Will you be getting any of these? Leave us a comment below.

I'm having some of that..loved Doom and Doom 2.
That is fantastic … just give me a Physical down the road with all 3 on the cart and I will give you 40-60$!
Oh crap, more to add to the backlog, hmm might wait and see if they bring a out a physical with them all (can but hope)
@Zuljaras Ha, you beat me by a few seconds
That is actually really awesome, I love surprises like this, I will probably pick all these up! I have thought countless times about how nice it would be to have these games on Switch.
Wat!? Shadow drop heaven! Or, hell rather lol
"Say whaaaat?!" - Let me fix that for you...
Say whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?
Ah yes, the obligatory Doom 1 port.
Yes please! I really want a Doom 64 remade by the fine folks that did Turok.
Is it only Europe? I just checked Nintendo of Americas website and didn't see it up there
wow! I'm probably one of the few people thats never really played any of the doom games and at that price I am well up for giving this a go! have always wanted to try doom 3 as well. All very well priced
This is brilliant news!To be honest I preferred the original games to the new one anyway.Except for Doom 3..that ones kinda naff.
I’ll buy all three at that price but 3 is amazing - I’ll happily double dip if they do physical down the road
I love 3!! This is great news
Can we get DOOM64 someday, please?
iddqd kinda mood.
best news ever!
Wow! Great news!
Obligatory It Can Run Doom comment.
I'll get DOOM 3, DOOM II on a later date. This are some awesome news! Keep them coming Bethesda!
May have to pick up Doom 3 at some point, might wait for a half off since i got too many games right now anyways, always wanted to check that one out.
GIMME GIMME GIMMEEEEEE!!!!
This is how back catalog titles should be released on the system with a decent price.
Holy goddamn f—— sh—! I’ve been wanting this for so long, ever since they announced Doom 2016 was being ported. After the success of that amazing game, I felt it only natural to port the classics over, especially for how damn good a port the GBA ones were able to accomplish all those years ago. Do you all realize this is the first rerelease of the original Dooms on an HD handheld, with actual controls? This is going to f—- rock!
Well, many happy returns of the day to King Alex Olney.
Surprising release. Bethesda keeps supporting Switch.
The prices is fine, but since i own all 3 on multiple systems already i will wait for sale.
I played Doom 1 and 2 to death on LAN in early 1990's when they released.
@NintendoFan4Lyf Probably port of the BFG version, which took out the dynamic shadows for consoles.
Damn, beautiful weekend outside, I have a massive swimming pool and I'll be playing a ton of Doom games, Fire Emblem Three Houses and maybe if I get bored of those some Wolfenstein Younblood....damn.
@Danrenfroe2016 @Severian They'd have to sort out some legal stuff with Warner Bros. first, since they own Midway, who owns Doom 64. id merely licensed id Tech 1 to Midway for 64.
At those prices and having never owned them it’s a buy from me. Motion controls will be the icing on the cake.
@Ventilator I played them to death, too, and now enjoy them in 3D with Zdoom, but having these games on a controller-centric handheld is a damn game changer. It’s the perfect marriage.
All 3 shall be mine all at great prices.
Brilliant!
Cool... I remember fidling with a map maker back in the '90's for Doom 2. Let me just say... it wasn't exactly Mario Maker software.
Does do doom 3 have online multiplayer?
DOOM 3 was an awesome tech demo, but it wasn't much of a game.
@Antraxx777 Yes. Good times. The pricing is great too.
Now Nintendo is really doomed.
"Doom! Doom! Doom! Welcome to your doom!"
Definitely a surprise! Might play these if Doom Eternal really grabs me.
@lemonjellydude They are legendary for a reason. The gameplay is so pure and polished in the original two Dooms, and it still has some of the all time best level design in the FPS genre.
Not to mention the unforgettable soundtrack.
I was never good at Doom but I might get it at some point anyway. Maybe I'm better at it now than I was when I last played it which was probably 10 years ago.
But 1993 was 26 years ago?
I don’t see them? Neither on the EU e-shop, nor on the American one...?
Edit: maybe I should’ve read the post first instead of running to get my switch after seeing the headline
@NintendoFan4Lyf
Mouse/KB in Doom? What? There was no looking, just flat plane. I played on 3DO with a gamepad just fine and on PC just used arrow keys.
Now Doom3 sure. If you can do FPS with a controller it would be fine. I'm not great and prefer mouse/kb.
Cool news though. I may pick up 1 or 2. I have 3 on the PC.
@Friendly Yeah, still not up
We truly are doomed
Lol i asked john romero about this last year he said to his knowledge no.

**enters Area 51 unscathed**
This might be the one working context to use the phrase Nintendoomed!
Also! Between Shantae 5, DMC1, and now Doom, seems like we've gotten a string of surprise announcements, recently.
I am guessing the release was ahead of the intended schedule which is why they got pulled
@Severian Oh wow! I was also hoping for Doom 64. It's an overlooked gem, really great game. However this is still great news. These are all still instant buys for me...
YESH! Despite this will be umpteenth buying, I will totally be getting these! Time to sing the Doom song now! doomie-doomie-doom!
The pricing for these is good. Great to have these on the Switch!!
Any word on Doom 3 online multiplayer?
Hope they'll have Gyro assist aiming implemented
@sikthvash I’ll just leave this here:
https://youtu.be/8F55JwkePIo
One of the worst versions of Doom had one of the very best versions of the iconic soundtrack
Released a little too early it seems. Could very well drop around 12 EST (5pm BST) in the latest of Quakecon's reveals
For those who missed it, the listing said that Doom 3 will be 9.5GB
Not in u.s yet come on give us a release in the real world merica!
YES!...although I hope they come back? That's weird.
Anyway, great little companions to Wolfenstein Youngblood. The Switch is turning into quite the DOOM machine!
@Antraxx777 Oh wow, how cool! How have I never stumbled across this before?! Thank you!!!
This is the doom song I was thinking of... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s2jvANh2aEc
Instant buy for me. Loved playing this on the 32x (even with the borders)
And just like that the slayer destroyed that employe and took down the games.
I never have played them yet, but they couldn't have picked a worse week to release them with FE releasing today. Maybe I'll get them in the future though...
Knowing Nintendo, I was half expecting the SNES version of Doom (Serious downgrade from the PC version). I'm working my way through Youngblood right now, but I'll think about buying these...if they ever come back to the eshop.
Hopefully these will be available soon. I would love to play these.
Sure feels like Doomguy is Smash Fighter Pass character #4. This amount of Bethesda support is unusual.
Ugh. As much as I want to dig in to Fire Emblem when I'm out of work... If the first three Doom games are out in the u.s. by then, Three Houses is gonna have to wait. Next to Mario and Zelda, Doom is my favorite franchise.
@Banedracul Exactly, my backlog will have to wait. These are instant buys....
@Grumblevolcano Yesyesyesyesyes, I want this so bad...
@BANJO Yeah, my backlog is starting to look really frightening. Especially when I still want Fire Emblem, Crash Team Racing, and I'm getting Wolfenstein today.
I've been waiting since 2016 DOOM for this! DOOM II especially was a big part of spurring my interest in gaming. Guess I'll sip some coffee and re-read Masters of Doom until this pops up again!
@Shiryu with a side of idkfa
@Hylian_Ticipated https://www.nintendolife.com/contact
@Grumblevolcano Doomguy is already in Smash.

Awesome, I know what I'll be playing this weekend. I love Doom and now we just need 64 to have them all on Switch 😁😁😁
And what's this all at a very good price for some classic games, are you watching Capcom?
Oh my. As soon as these come back I’m all over this. Played a bit of PS1 DOOM when I hacked my PS Classic last week and it’s still amazingly good fun for a 26 year old game.
I've heard good ting about DOOM 3, will defo get that .
@Giygas_95 @BANJO
Same situation here. Got plenty of games on my Switch I’ve barely touched. Haven’t got round to buying CTR, Mario Maker 2, MUA3 or FE yet and the rest of the year is packed.
The nicest kind of gaming problem.
Fabulous news! Can never own these games on too many systems. Interested to see what control options we have for DOOM 1 and 2.
This is just weird
Hopefully they are all 60fps
Did the pages actually say they were being released today? I didn't get the chance to see them before they were taken down
I have been hoping for this even on the 3DS eShop.
Getting rid of my GBA versions due to not being able the screen anymore was crushing.
Now I really want Quake & Quake 2 complete with the CD soundtrack on the Switch - I can dream!
Anyone knowi if Doom and Doom 2 feature splitscreen multiplayer?
@electrolite77 @Giygas_95 Yes, just to many games releasing at the moment. It's a good issue to have.
Once these 3 games release and Doom Eternal releases in November there will be 5 different Doom games on the console. I didn't think that possible back at the Switches launch....
Yay, can't wait until these really come out for Switch. (Hopefully during Quakecon.)
Would love to have the original Doom on the go!
A trilogy of DOOM games over that Fire Emblem stuff any day!
The weekend is saved - potentially...
My personal favorite games of all time? 1. Space Invaders (Atari 2600 ver.) 2. Doom 1/2 3. Breath of the Wild
I want Quake now, only ever played it on Saturn but I loved it.
That's a lot of Doom, now all I need is Doom 64.
@steizgr8 Yep, details in NL's article above. All local only though, so no mention of online play with friends. Not sure how well splitcreen will work in handheld though...
Nice! I hope they'll be released soon. I never finished Doom 3 as I only played the PC version on a friends house as a kid. Not sure if I NEED Doom 1 & 2 again on a different system, but hey if the pricing is that low then why not. A physical collection would also be awesome but I'm fine with digital too.
Some other companies, cough cough Capcom, should take note here on pricing ports of old games.
Well that was "Doomed" to happen.
@BANJO Good issue maybe, but not for my wallet!
Awesome now give me a remastered doom 64!🙌🏼
This is actually really awesome. Doom 3, in particular, was a pretty decent horror FPS when it released. It doesn't feel like DOOM, persay, but I do think it's a good game.
Wow I’m so on board, just put them out already!
I'm in. Please release the original quake. I never finished it back in the day. Time to make it right 🤣
No way! That’s awesome
Did anybody manage to snag it whilst it was up?
I read this earlier head to eshop and you felt the whole think was doomed from the start.
The Switch is DOOMED!
Bethesda sure knows how to screw over people
ID, Y U NO SIGIL????
I still remember the time when my desktop PC ran DOOM 3 at like 15 FPS..and now it can run on switch wow
WHAT HAPPEN?
Somebody set up us the Doom and remove it again!
@WiltonRoots,
Without a doubt will be getting all three...Just downloaded the original Doom AND the game thumbnail is awesome.
@manu0 Yeah I remember when Doom 3 was one of the benchmark PC games along with with the original Far Cry. Those were the days, lol, if you could run those games well you had a seriously good gaming PC.
I'm gonna sing the Doom song now! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nw_cdqQHGA8
So I shouted "OMFG YES"...jumped to my Switch and then saw they were gone...dammit. Seriously I want Doom on my Switch without hacking. Doom 1,2 Ultimate, Final and 64 in one nice little compilation. Just f***ing do it already.
EDIT: Erm Doom 1, 2 & 3 are on there now at a reasonable price.
Finally, Switch is officially reckognised as a platform that runs games. It has the Doom 1 seal of approval.
When they're back up, I'll definitely consider a purchase. When they get a physical collection release. I'll definitely remove it from my virtual wishlist and consider a physical purchase even more.
@Shambo It's on the European eShop now.
Just been confirmed at the presentation, available today!!!! So they should be on the E-Shop now.
They are already on. I just bought them. Scroll down because they aren't the first three games weirdly!
@GrailUK can you tell me if they support gyro aiming (especially 3)?
You have to have a Bethesda account to play...so you pay money and then get forced to join something you dont want to join
@Shambo looking now for you
@Shambo Doom 1 and 2 don't (unsurprisingly lol) Doom 3 is still downloading.
How much FPS do they have?
@GrailUK Well, it could've worked like the mouse controls of Wolfenstein But it's ok for them not to have them. Let's hope for 3...
@UnbreakableAlex They are 3 times 100% FPS
I know, I know, frames per second, not first person shooter.
How much do they cost?
@electrolite77 1 and 2 are like 4 quid each. Doom 3 is 7.99
@electrolite77 4,99 / 4,99 / 9,99 in euro's
Bought all 3 without thinking even a second... Just a week ago I was thinking about that... Why Bethesda doesn't port all 3 original doom instead of the new games??? My wish came true...
@Zanzox Now how about the Wolfenstein games? 3D, Spear of Destiny and Return would be great to own on my Switch and it would be nice to have Old & New Colossus on there too.
Omfg instant buy...
This is so awesome! They should've hyped us with a direct about it! I hope they release Quake and Quake 2 on Switch running at 60fps!!!
First off, what's up with the email requirement? Just let me instantly jump into Doom! Also, I was hoping they might bump it up to 60fps, but alas they stuck with the old school frame rate max (I guess it's like 40 or 45 fps?). Anyways, it is amazing to have Doom on Switch and I can't wait to try out multiplayer! It looks and feels exactly like it did years ago, of course. Thanks Bethesda and ID!
@Danrenfroe2016 Yeah, they should totally bring Doom 64 to Switch! They could increase the resolution and frame rate just like with Turok! That would be sweet! If it had 4 player deathmatch and co-op it would be even better!
Oh fudge yes! I'll be buying all three today, and I'd definitely double dip for a physical copy down the road. I love all of them but I'm especially excited to play Doom 3 again! =D
@UnbreakableAlex I just played Doom 1993 and it runs at the usual maximum frame rate of whatever it is, like 40fps. I was hoping for 60, but it is still tied with the best frame rate Doom has ever had, and it looks and plays great! I'm curious to see if the frame rate ever drops in 4 player games...
Oh, and I'm very curious to see if Doom 3 runs at 60fps like it did on PS3!
Bad news. You're forced to login to a BethesdaNet account if you wanna play offline.
Wooooooh DOOM 3 Portable!!!
@hadrian I think it would be very nice! I love almost all Bethesda FPS but... The original doom trilogy... 😍 I'm 42yo and I have sweet sweet memories of these years
I was immediately thinking "I'm not about the shell out more money for that game that I've paid for multiple times already, and can have run on literally almost any device"
But that's a very modest price tag. That about covers the licensing, porting, and distribution cost with a little left over for profit margin. I'm comfortable throwing my money at that.
we also need Quake
_)
@JRJalapeno Yeah, I really want to play the original Quake on Switch. It would also be awesome to get Quake 2! Older Wolfenstein games would be freaking sweet to have on Switch also!
Awesome great news to finally see a Doom Collection on the Nintendo switch but no physical Release which is a huge disappointment.
@mist I was hoping too, but I can confirm Doom 1993 run at the usual maximum frame rate. I think it's 40 or 45 fps? Anyways, while a bit disappointing, it still looks and plays great. I love it!
Love Doom and Doom II... never got around to Doom 3. What do people think of that one? Worth a go?
@BlackenedHalo Would LOVE to see the Quake games come to switch.
I also remember a little game called Hexen, which I loved.
Ahh! Can't wait to download these after work today! Played Doom all the time during the mid-90s with my neighbor.
@johnvboy i first played Doom on the 32x back in the day and loved it, and played Doom 2 on one of the first Power PC Powermacs at work. Marathon had better network multiplayer though. Amazing that all these years later bobbing gun games haven’t gone away.
Holy crap the multiplayer is awesome. Single joy con split screen Doom totally works on Switch. I do wish it ran at 60fps, but even this way it is just wonderful to have this on Switch! Hopefully they'll release the best versions of Quake and Quake 2 ever on Switch. Imagine those games running at 60fps with split screen multiplayer added!! Switch is the best system ever released!
@Grumblevolcano Yeah, could be! I would actually like to see Mars and He'll as stages in Smash. It would such a cool clash having Kirby and Yoshi fight in Hell!
@NintendoFan4Lyf Yeah, John was saying he was working on a video he couldn't talk about. Probably Doom 3! I sure hope it runs at 60fps!!!
Well it sure was a pleasant surprise! Was just thinking yesterday about how much I want my Classic Doom fix on the Switch and here it is. Already bought all three!
I have doom on gba is that the same as doom 1 coming to switch?
@Sgt-Jack-V Warner Bros should be getting this done! If they want to make money, that is! Would love to play Doom 64 on Switch!
@60frames-please the framerate is hardcoded into the game I think it was 35fps, even so with auto run on it feels very fast and slick, much more so than when I played it back on 360 and it looks great in handheld. Just waiting for Doom 3 to download now and that was the game I built my first gaming PC to play, if someone told me then I'd be playing it handheld I'd have laughed at them
@Shambo Nope, I can't see gyro in any shape or form in any of the games. Boo!
Sounds like you have to have an Online subscription to play it, though.
Always online, and have to log into Bnet.
Annoying to have to create a Bethesda Account but have done it. Played Doom and Doom 2, they both run great. Doom 3 is still downloading...... Good weekend ahead!!
Warning, game uses online drm and requires bethy account
This is dumb, doom 1 and 2 are legacy games, why throw this online drm bull into my switch ports? Waste of money.
Sorry Fire Emblem. Gonna have to blast through Doom 1 first.
I was just reminiscing about my experiences with these games the other day in the 25th anniversary thread! So cool. I got a bundle of games for my first PC that included Wolf 3D, Doom 1/2 and the original XCOM. Can’t remember which I dove into first but DOOM very well could have been the first PC game I ever played.
@BANJO Does that mean you basically have to have an internet connection to play these? If so, I'm not gonna bother getting them.
Wait what!?? Where did this come from?!? Amazing!
@Giygas_95 You'll need an internet connection the first time to link to a Bethesda account. After your save is linked you can play offline. (It will ask you to connect, but you can skip those messages)
@GrailUK well to be fair you can't even look up and down anyway in the first 2 so there'd be little point in gyro aiming
Oh man today’s a good day off. DOOM II and Fire Emblem Three Houses!
@sanderev That sounds pretty suspect...how do we know they won't force us to login after say, seven days?
So - is there gyro cool in Doom 3? Love this surprise release! Bethesda rocks with its support for Switch - I really enjoyed Doom, Skyrim and Wolfenstein and am gonna pick up Doom Eternal, today's releases and Youngblood. So many great games on the Switch. There is never a drought and you constantly have to decide which game to pick.
@60frames-please how about those awesome ID iphone RPG GAMES. I loved those
368MB download for Doom. Ah, those were the days!
@Giygas_95 it won't, it's just a requirement to have an account with them
"Times Change. DOOM is Eternal." What an awesome tagline for this collection.
gyro control and 60 fps on doom 3?
wow what reasonable prices! please other companies do the same! I will pick up Doom 3 just to have an FPS on Switch, at 7.99 wow nothing to lose
@carlos82 Indeed
@Giygas_95 You don't, unless you would put your Switch offline for that amount of time. Currently it's still working though.
It won't work before linking a Bethesda account. I tried it with my second profile, the game stopped at a "Bethesda net acocunt required"-screen. But my main profile still works when offline (Airplane mode on)
@sanderev I can't play offline. It keeps whining that I need to be online. Put in on airplane mode and see what happens. They really need to fix this!
@chickje You need to sign in the first time. It will work after that.
@60frames-please @infernogott @GrailUK just started Doom 3 and pretty certain its 60fps, no gyro aiming though. Also the port was done by Panic Button 😀
@chickje mine works perfectly in airplane mode, you just have to have signed in once on any of the games
@Giygas_95 Just the one login for me so far. After that it logs in automatically. Although I only play in docked and always connected to the internet....
@carlos82 Glad to hear Panic Button did the port
I remember it getting a mixed reaction back when it released but DOOM 3 was one of my favorite original Xbox games. Of course I had to get it for the Switch. Never would've thought I'd be able to one day play the game on the go on a Nintendo platform, but here we are.
These reasonably priced ports put capcom to shame. Thank you Bethesda!
Doom 3 ordered 😀
So essentially 4 id games are coming out for Switch on the same day (I'm counting Wolfenstein Youngblood, it's an id property though not developed by them). That's pretty wild. Can't wait to get home and download these bad boys.
Bought and downloaded. All 3. 15 quid. I love the Nintendo Switch so much.
@sandman89 kinda, but the version is based on the PC original, so you have more levels the GBA version is missing a few, runs and looks better too
@Moistnado All 3 for under £16.00 is very cheap... Especially when yoy consider the amount of hours/gameplay you get for that....
@Galenmereth Capcom can have my tracking data if they'd sell me the Resident Evil games at that price on Switch
trying to buy them on the website eshop to have dled for when I get home....the page however shows for a moment then turns up blank. anyone else see this?
Nearing 200 comments, seems more than few people are interested in Doom!!!
Damn, this is the kind of stuff you don't normally expect much to land on modern consoles AT ALL, investing in it somewhere like GOG instead. Yet to have and play it on Switch??? Count me in, even if perhaps not immediately.
Doom changed everything with real-time 3D scrolling. I remember paying £100 for extra PC RAM just so I could cache Doom and play super smooth. Beforehand all FP games used to redraw each static room/corridor. Unless you experienced gaming in the 90s it's hard to image how sad that was. All hail Doom the BFG of FPS.
I made a quick video how offline works in the game.
Check: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FEp_hYA7q9o
$20 for all three and they have mp with single cons (at least the first one)? That's how you get me to impulse blow $20. If I had it rn that is. Soon.
PASS.
Requiring the creation of a Bethesda account to play a game you paid for is wrong.
@Shambo @GrailUK
Great, thanks for that. What very reasonable prices!
@carlos82 same here after signing in once, but will it work offljne indefintely or only for limited time before requiring internet again? No one knows
Games like these shudnt use drm, theyve been open source and drm free on pc since forever ffs
@sanderev If the first time you will login to Bethesda and then log off somehow, can you play single player / local multiplayer? If yes, are you forced to read the same messages for online features all the time? How is the control?
Thanks!
Would be nice to have Doom 64 port to the Switch in the future.
@nkarafo There is no ingame option to log off. There is no way of knowing if it's time based or not right now.
And yes, you'll keep getting the request to connect if you start the game disconnected. But once you're past the title screen the game will continue normally.
Nintendo of America has the pages for them but there is nothing there. They come back in search as well but the pages don't have content.
https://www.nintendo.com/games/detail/doom-1993-switch/
https://www.nintendo.com/games/detail/doom-2-classic-switch/
https://www.nintendo.com/games/detail/doom-3-switch/
Oh wait, if you click on the link directly it goes there, if you go through the eshop it doesn't work for some reason.
@MrMichaelJames I had to use my phone, the pages dont work on my desktop (chrome or firefox). logged in on mobile and bought 1 and 2
@Doktor-Mandrake the listing just says a Bethesda account is required and nothing about an online connection being required, so I'd put good money on that being it once signed in the first time. It must link to your Nintendo account as when I switched to one of the other 2 it automatically signed me in without me entering anything
Yes I got all three of them now, going to marathon all of them once I finished Fire Emblem and prepare for Doom Eternal.
Making note to download DOOM II one day, loved playing this one on PC. May be an unpopular opinion, but I always liked DOOM II more than the original. Level 9, The Pit is still one of my favorite levels, and one of my favorite BGMs in a classic game. This is definitely a surprise.
@Sunsy id say its pretty popular opinion actually, hoe having the ssg nd all
However this version doesnt have no rest for the living like the version I have on xbla and doom 3 bfg edition
Someone in comments just mentioned doom64, thtd be a neat one to have on switch
F*CK! I always wanted DOOM 3. I just bought Fire Emblem. As a side note, I stopped playing AC3 Remastered due to a mission that causes the game to break on me! I've emailed Ubisoft on the game breaking mission.
@Doktor-Mandrake Cool, never knew that considering I notice most talk about the original 1993 game. I just loved the sequel a lot better between the levels, and the super shotgun, right down to the newer enemies.
@GrailUK I think that's actually pretty decent pricing! They've definitely priced to sell as my boss would say.
@Taarna same I was 14 when it first game out, if you look at it as its own game and not compared so much to classics then its a very good game
@Sunsy Ya I think eternal will be same, lead up from 2016 but perfected ^^
@60frames-please still got those for my n64, was my first time playin quake games, way before trying the pc versions xD
Someone else mention doom 64 which wud fit right at home on switch, id also like to see perfect dark from rareware myself as well, still the best fps of all time imo
I was all set to buy all three games when I got home tonight, but after finding out about the forced login to Bethesda.net requirements I'm gonna pass until Bethesda removes that crud. There's no reason you should have to sign in to any online account to play these games.
Wow; forced login to bnet....
LOL NOPE.
What a modest price tag for an old game. Capcom and Nintendo, please take note.
@Friendly same here, i tried to buy them but dont even see them
A forced login is a big no from me Bethesda.
@JRJalapeno Yes, I'd love to play Doom RPG and Orcs and Elves on Switch!
@MsJubilee Yeah, I don't like that kind of crap at all, but so far it can be a fake email and you can still quickly get in and play Doom. You don't have to verify an email sent from them or anything. You don't have to receive an email from them.
@Severian Seeing the Unmaker on Switch would be great. I hope I'll see it again in Doom Eternal.
Hope these go to the top of the E-Shop charts, having great fun playing both Doom and Doom 2 this evening. I will save Doom 3 for next week....
I used a fake email on the 1st Doom, playing no problem, next time I loaded the game, I got straight through, didn’t need to log in
I haven’t even got home to put my new copy of Fire emblem 3 houses in the switch but damn I will be buying these also. 😃
Doom 3 is still an excellent game. I wonder if we will get gyro controls?
This may be a dumb question but doesn't Doom 3 include both Ultimate Doom and Doom 2?
Three Dooms on one cheap price? And it's out today?!
Boy it's time to go demon slaying!
....if I wasn't forced to log in to a Bethesda account to play the game....
Doom Trilogy is also released on Xbox One and PS4 today.
I don't know if they are re-released on PC.
Bought all three. Glad they was priced nicely on switch.
Too bad they didn't port DOOM 64, the only old DOOM game I can play even today.
Why is the creation of a Bestesda account needed again? do these games need a constant internet connection to play? I must have missed something
There is no online on any system of this trilogy.
@GrailUK @carlos82 do either of you, or anyone else know if it’s the BFG version of doom 3 or the original??
@Antraxx777 I'm from 1986, so my childhood was affected by Doom as my first fps, got it on pc even though I had a 3DO later on, never finished the game but I did love it so much, time to finish the trilogy now, wanted to say thank you for that soundtrack, sounds EPIC even though it doesn't ring a bell, guess I wasn't paying attention to it back in the days. Cheers
@NintendoFan4Lyf i played it back then as well, the golden age of gaming honestly, never finished it though but doesn't it have a super hard mode or something coz you said it's not that challenging ?
Cheers
@carlos82 there was a Doom game on the original Xbox, was that the 3rd or something else?
@Wavey84 Doom 1993 is running at 35fps. I was hoping they would bump it up to 60fps, but no such luck. I guess it has always mazed out at 35fps. I still love I though. Have been having a blast playing it on Switch today. Can't wait to try a four player co-op playthrough!
@TidusUK I think Doom 1993 came out on Xbox.
@Ralizah was it the one on the original XBOX ? I remember that one had lots of jump scares and I do hope it's the 3rd one, there's BFG edition which is not sure which edition is it, and the 64 esition needs a remastered version with motion control hoping for all of them
@TidusUK It's the only DOOM game I can think of that actually tried to scare the player, so probably (I played on PC, so I have no idea about what consoles it was on).
Definitely can't wait to play all three games. This is wonderful to have all these games for the SWITCH. The Switch has a lot of retro and new games, as for signing in the account, no big deal, you do it, and get back to playing.
That's unexpected and cool, I'll be picking up Doom 3 for my Switch!
Doom co-op 4 player on my 92 inch screen? Yes please!
@Fighter_Hayabusa and that's why I'll download a patched nsp version, I only support games worth supporting even if hacking is not a nice practice, at least I can enjoy it this way
Wow, that's pretty cool.
sigh.... I swore off FPS on consoles, but Doom 1 and 2.....I may actually get these on Switch, absolute classics.
I'm loving Doom 1993 on my Switch! Now let's get Quake 1 and 2, Timesplitters 2 (with the awesome mini games!), Half Life 1 and 2, Portal 1 and 2, Second Sight, Perfect Dark, and Geist on Switch!
@LuciferOnReddit so much hate... Some people do ask gor those games, it's not just about you and all that negativety.
It's nice to respect others taste even if we don't agree with it, so all my respects to yours for sure.
Doom 1 is unplayable today for my standards. Hasn't aged well.
Doom 3 on the other hand...Game was fun, had some technical issues though. Wasn't half as good as Half Life 2 for sure
@CaptainRPG i'll ask him about Daikatana II
Games like wolfenstein and doom 1 and doom 2 changed my gaming life forever way back in the 90s. It was like nothing i had ever seen before or played . Ultra violent and very fun . Thank God for my neighbors who were 5 years older than me so my little 7 and 8 year old ass could play these on their PC . So much fun. If you never played doom and or doom 2 it's an obligation to see for your self the meager roots of FPS genre . All reasonably priced as well . Never did doom 3 , 9.99 seems like a great price to jump in on . Do I do digital or hold my breath for a physical ? Too many games , not enough time ....
Wow that was a great way to remind me I had 900 and some gold points so I snagged all three for about 11$. So flipping cool. I then played Doom for two hours and forgot to save anywhere before I died.
@60frames-please wasnt their a wolf RPG too?
I wish there was an option to have the soundtrack from the PS1 version. DOOM used to give me nightmares on that compared to the original rock soundtrack. Iirc Doom 64 also used the ps1 soundtrack and was even scarier as the gane was a lot darker
This went from a “must buy” to a “pass” for me with that account nonsense.
My long term plan of buying a 2DSXL to hack and play the GBA versions of Doom and Doom 2 is back on track ( in addition to various other “lost” games like Astro Boy and the Shaman King’s.)
IDSPISPOPD from memory, I need help!
Here is my money and here is my money and here is my money... Yep. As soon as I got in I bought all 3, just waiting for 3 to finish downloading. Memories! But like so many people have said, RTCW & Quake (12&4) wouldn't go amis! But if you are going to bring the older quakes, oh my brothers, please have an option to use the classic software render... Please!
DOOM for Switch has always online DRM. The writer of this article failed to give this very important (and awkward) information.
@LuciferOnReddit
“Did anyone ask for them? Why would anybody want to play Doom 1 or 2 on the Switch?”
See : the 223 comments above yours
@Swindla
Totally agree. Loved the sound on the PS1 version.
@sanderev Any reason why you switched your user account in the video? Also, when you went to internet settings, did you just exit the internet settings menu? I have users on my Switch that don’t even have Nintendo Network ID’s and I know that blocks usage outright. It’s too bad there’s so many caveats.
R.I.P. and tear on everyones wallets.
Huh, now that's how you price old games. Looking at you, Turok!
Now if only someone released DN3D, SW and Blood on Switch...
Cya
Raziel-chan
@Razzy Duke Nukem 3D and Blood, I haven't played Blood in a while.... Classic FPS!!
@Danrenfroe2016 Doom 64 is so underrated!
"bUt YoU hAvE tO sIgN In, HuRpH dUrPh"
Christ, some of you really will cry about anything.
@Elvie DOOM 3 BFG Edition did come with DOOM and DOOM2, yes. I suspect this is the original, non BFG release of D3.
Just downloaded and played 30 mins of Doom 3. Personally one of my favourites and loved it on PC when it came out in 2003.
Have to say looks and plays superbly in docked mode. Haven’t tried on the go yet but this is silkily smooth and I’m really pleased with my purchase.
YOU WILL BE KILL BY DEMONS!
Nabbed Doom. Will get the other eventually.
Got all 3 and already played through the original. So many great memories...all over again. Just when I think I loathe Bethesda almost as much as EA, they go and do something like this.
@Wavey84 I can't keep track of all the comments, but I think you're asking about frame rate? Based on YouTube videos it looks like 60fps, just like PS3. I don't know if there are drops or how bad they are. The beginning of the game is definitely 60fps smoothness though.
I downloaded it. It would be nice if I could play it. It will not let me set up an account which I have to have to play. Pure crap. I would rather have my $5 dollars back than jack with this bull.
@JRJalapeno I only know of Doom RPG, Orcs and Elves, and Doom RPG 2. A Wolf RPG should totally be made to Switch if there isn't one to port!
@carlos82 I didn't even have to enter in a real email address. Just put some garbage letters in and clicked accept or whatever and went straight into Doom.
@ecco6t9 you don't have to give a real functioning email address. You don't have to confirm a link in an email. Just enter [email protected] or whatever made up email address you want, then click through and play Doom. No account required, no internet connection required to play, just meaningless nonsense of clicking through their attempt to get your email address. I was pissed at first, but when I figured out you don't have to do it I chilled out.
@Swindla That would be an awesome patch. I know everyone says it's impossible, it's hardcoded into the game engine, but I would still love to play Doom at 60fps. I'd pay a lot for that as DLC!
@Fighter_Hayabusa Yeah, I bought Doom 1993 and didn't have to actually create a Bethesda account or enter a functioning email address, but Doom 3 apparently requires online connection Everytime you play for an OFFLINE only game! Screw Bethesda, that is dumpster fire bulls---. I'm not going to buy Doom 3 unless they remove that POS online requirement! It's bad enough that they even stop you from jumping into Doom or Doom 2 to try and advertise their corporate account crap, but not letting you play an offline game you just bought without connecting every time? Horrible!
Quake me. Quake me RIGHT NOW.
Motion sickness incoming 🤢
@60frames-please @SBandy there was a wolfenstein rpg made for mobile but it was made by a different company. Still missing Doom rpg
Was the reason I kept my junky phone
I'm not complaining about having to log in but not being able to play without a connection is a real boner killer. Ah well, cest la vie.
Having a lot of fun with Doom 2 again. Picked up 3 and hopefully I finish it this time, last time I tried was in 2005
@GrailUK Ah, too bad. If it had them, Doom3 handheld would be a certain purchase. Thanks a lot for looking!
@TidusUK yeah that was Doom 3
@Stocksy it'll be the BFG version as it has the shoulder mounted flashlight
This stealth release landed on my birthday. Best birthday, ever.
For the younger ones:
Doom is a masterclass in level design. Doom + Thy Flesh Consumed is a masterpiece. Doom II...erm...exists.
And Doom 3 is something that I pretend doesn’t. 😂
@NintendoFan4Lyf
It’s kind of weird and kind of not weird. They applied the same dual analog stick controls as the Xbox 360 ports. Back in the day, I was the noob that never heard of circle strafe and strictly played with just the keyboard. Thus, I keep trying to hit a strafe button, if you recall that layout.
My only complaint is that they really made no effort to optimize switching out weapons. You just get shuffling down and shuffling up (and it’s slow). I keep accidentally equiping the rocket lanucher in the worst scenarios. 😂. Also, there’s no way to quickly switch to the chainsaw and back (at least that I know of).
So, if say your strategy at the end of E1M6 is to trip the first trap doors, take out the shotgun dudes with rockets, move back in the cozy little spot and chainsaw all of the demons that come your way...well..no...that’s not going to happen, unfortunately.
In short, if you can breeze through Doom in Ultra-Violence without taking a hit, you’ll breeze through Doom on the Switch in Ulta-Violence while never maintaining 200% for longer than a few seconds. It’s still awesome though.
Dream come true! Now we need Quake 1-4! And Rage...
Remember folks, save often!
Call me when Blood is available, preferably with online multiplayer. Although Doom2 is pretty good, pity it can't be played offline (grumble, insanity, grumble...).
@Cathousemaster Another Blood fan here, brings back memories
Doom is to number 9 on the UK E-Shop with Doom 2 at 24 and Doom 3 at 25. So all in the top 30 chart!!
@BANJO they’ve shot right up the charts since. If they were smart they’d discount DOOM 2016, or do a cross buy promo or something and give it a push too.
@MartyFlan Just checked, 6th Doom, 10th Doom 2 and 11th Doom 3 (UK E-Shop). Not bad at all...
Yes I agree, Doom 2016 is £49.99, they should drop it to half that now or do some offer with the other titles...
@60frames-please wolf RPG was real 😜.

@JRJalapeno Yeah, and it looks awesome. Someone needs to release a whole raft of cell phone and PlayStation mobile games on Switch on a cartridge. These games would be great to have physically on Switch!
@60frames-please I just checked my iPhone purchase history..They're still there ..and I have an old iphone that hasnt been updated in a long time. Ima gonna try to download Doom RPG and Wolf RPG tonight. Finish what I started 😂
@JRJalapeno Nice, let me know if they work.
