Another thought. There was that other rumour of a spin off game where you play as Zelda. What if this is a Super Mario 3D World/Bowser's Fury kind of deal. Remaster of BotW double pack with a Zelda focused adventure as a secondary adventure. A bit like a Master Quest kind of deal

Now how the Zelda of BotW would play in such a game I'm not sure. But I'm sure they could find enough to justify a re-release

@skywake I like that idea, yeah. That Bowser Fury add on (and the Mario movement enhancement) really sold me on buying that game again. Didn’t think twice about it, and I’m quite hesitant to pay Nintendo the mucho Canadian dinero Nintendo wants for games here. Zelda’s Fury, let’s go..

I hate that idea... if there were a Zelda-playable spinoff combined with BotW remaster I would be compelled to buy it... and I really don't want to pay for BotW for the third time. 😆

Just I thought I had whilst playing TotK again earlier today.
Sure would be nice if they fixed it so your summons can be instructed to act without walking by them and pressing A.
So many times I've had Tulin blow away items I was trying pick up, or had Sidon put up a water shield I didn't need.
Or the opposite rather, Sidon's helpful water shield is a hassle to put up! The summons have helpful abilities you often don't use because it involves walking up to them.

Obviously it would make a lot of sense. Aside from the fact that it would obviously look much better and could eliminate load times it is easy to forget that BoTW has some fairly sizable DLC (and we know that the majority of players haven't got that DLC).

The various minor QoL changes made for ToTK (selecting cooking ingredients from things you've made before for instance) could also be rolled in. The magnesis rune could let you turn objects more like Ultrahand does without breaking anything (I always found magnesis to be annoying). Fixing the motion controlled shrines would be welcome too.

If they wanted to be just a little more ambitious they could incorporate a couple of the new enemies from ToTK (like the Boss Bokoblins and those large flying bat things) or from AoC (like the elemental tinged guardians).

If they make a special BOTW specially for Switch 2 cart physical I will take it. This would mean no codes or programming for Wii or U edition will caused graphical downgraded. This would see the end of older lines and a New beginning that will usher a ERA of Switch 2 peformances into 4k realm. That's how it should be.

I mean, I would buy this, but I'd be quite bitter about it as I already own the launch version and the Japanese complete edition. A two-in-one release would be too ridiculously good to resist though.

Porygon did nothing wrong.

I love this idea, coupled with the QoL changes that could carry over from TOTK as @StuTwo said. You guys are getting my hopes up, nooo! We all know it can't be that good 🥺

Rolling with the double pack idea, how about pairing it with Age of Calamity?

That game, if anything, needs a performance-enhancing remaster more than Breath of the Wild does.

Worth noting that back in the day they did bundle Wind Waker with Ocarina of Time. Although the equivalent here would be like bundling a BotW remaster with some new Zelda game. Certainly not happening anytime soon

Along similar lines they also had the "Zelda Collection" disc which was bundled with some GCs as a pack in title and that included OoT, MM and the NES Zeldas. I guess the equivalent to that now would be bundling with Switch 2 with BotW, TotK and..... the N64 Zeldas? The Wii Zeldas? GC? Hard to think of an equivalent that's not completely insane in terms of value

....... I think a sensible bundle might be something like:

  • BotW Ultimate Edition
  • Ocarina of Time RT
  • Majora's Mask RT

Possible Switch 2 preview coming. Been thinking that an enhanced BotW could be used to demonstrate something hardware or software related. I think it’d be interesting if Nintendo used BotW imagery here because it was the ‘killer app’ of the Switch 1, and using it in Switch 2 messaging would definitely make connections… hopefully the right connections to get people on board, if so

So a BotW Special Edition will at the very least be a ‘Switch 2 Edition’ rerelease if it’s box gets the Switch 2 branding. I think this is extremely likely. Hopefully these games are deluxe editions as well, meaning extra content. I have been playing Skyward Sword again and was thinking maybe my second go at BotW is feeling like something I’d like to do. Well if I can get extra content along with performance, I’d be a strong push for that

Performance enhancements..

If there’s no new content Nintendo doesn’t need to charge, that’s not great

Nice, the Zelda Switch 2 editions included in NSO Expansion Pack.

Also not mentioned in the Direct, several Switch games are getting free updates to improve performance or add features on Switch 2, including Pokémon Scarlet and Violet thank goodness.

Not sure I'll do the upgrade yet. But I'll be replaying botw pretty shortly after launch.

A speedrunner who played the demo already managed to beat the game:

That is impressive. I think they should be allowed to get the upgrade for free.
