@Lightgazer
I have not.
To Heart is the first game i have ever completed in Japanese(yay!), and the first "pure" visual novel i've played through since Tsukihime 20 years or so ago.
I do want to try to play through all the Key visual novels in order, though.
@EllaTheQueen6 Did you miss me? I'm finally back. Just got a Switch OLED again and slowly rebuilding my physical collection! Currently playing Marco and the Galaxy Dragon on Switch and The Last of Us: Part II on PS4.

I absolutely love interactive fiction. From text adventure games like Zork, to choose your own adventure games like Henry Stickmin. And I especially love story-based games where little decisions you make can make a huge difference to the story in the future. I love branching paths that lead to wildly different endings but still can intertwine a bit. So, I feel like visual novels would be the kind of thing I would like.
However, I'm not interested in the style of most visual novels I have seen. I'm not interested in playing a visual novel that's like a high-school dating sim. I don't want anything too dark or violent, nor do I want anything, you know, steamy. (You know what I'm saying.)
Anyway, what I'm getting at is asking if anyone has good suggestions for visual novels. You don't have to limit yourself to western VN's, but in some cases, they would be preferred. Thank you, guys.
Warning: Spicy opinions like "M&Ms are overrated." may leak from this unit!
The Hundred Line: Last Defense and 13 Sentinels are the 2 best VNs I've ever played. Both have strategy based gameplay too. Hundred Line is grid based in the vein of Fire Emblem. Highly recommend.
