@Tsuchinoko Thanks for the detailed info!
Now I want to play this even more. Puzzlers are fun and suck you in for some reason and to be honest the absurdity of it all being in an airport somehow appeals to me.
The way you use the shoulder buttons makes it sound almost like pinball in a way.
It'd be cool if there really was a guy sitting in a little room who had to control all the luggage like this

@Tsuchinoko You've played it. So let me ask. Is it fun? I mean it's not really a sim is it? More like an 'airport-themed puzzler.'
Same way Tetris would only be a 'Star Wars-themed puzzler' if you stacked Ewoks on top of each other and not blocks. At its core it would still be a puzzler.. not a sim

Really looking forward to playing this game but 100points extra because it's an import?? Wtf Nintendo? Seriously.
If you're going to start charging extra for 'imported' eshop titles then just give us Cave Story and Denpa Men already.

@PinkSpider
Yes! This is eating away the hours for me too. It is still not for everyone but if it's for you then you'll love it!
What are your scores for the stage modes so far? I'm playing through them progressively starting with Easy and moving up from there. I want to see how high i can get in each stage before moving up. Still trying to get a hang of the scoring system. I'm trying to find the best way to chain and get the multiplier up. Any insights? Getting a purity up to 'perfect' also adds to the scores nicely.
So far:
stage01: 706,440 (meh)
stage02: 1,307,012 (getting there)

wuuds commented on Review: Liberation Maiden (3DS eShop):
@6ch6ris6
You just go into 'settings' and change strafe from 'lock' to 'toggle'. That simple. You'd think someone would simply look at the settings menu if it was such a pain. Rush job I guess.

wuuds commented on Review: Liberation Maiden (3DS eShop):
Liberation Maiden has 5 stages and three difficulty levels which you tackle over and over. Playing story mode unlocks each stage for stand alone playing. The game is about improving your score. It isn't an RPG people, it's a shooter. Take it at that.
The talk about your hand cramping is utter rubbish. You can press the L button to activate/deactivate strafe so there is no need to hold it down. I don't see how the reviewer missed this.
Repetition? Once again, it's a shooter. You shoot things over and over. Fair point. It is repetitive, but that's what the genre is if you want to nitpick. The core mechanic may be repetitive but the stages are actually quite diverse. Every area looks different and there are even some 'sneak' missions thrown in.
In one stage I even unlocked a sub-mission during the main stage objective. I'm sure there are more to be found which means that it has depth, if you spend some time looking around and don't just gun through on the path of the objective.
Overall it's a nice review but I feel it misses a few points.
If repetition and longevity are the main faults here then how can this possibly score less than Sakura Samurai? Both are short and repetitive but Liberation Maiden has higher production value and diversity. The latter has perhaps a little less charm I'll admit, but easily matches the former in terms of quality and gameplay.
It's great for what it is. It's far from perfect, I'll admit that, but we shouldn't judge it as something it clearly is not.

Played Hana Samurai for a bit today (will be picking it up again shortly) and I must say that it's enjoyable. I was a bit surprised though since I reached and beat the first boss very soon. VERY soon.
I do see what I am meant to feel though. I am meant to feel that I want to master every opponent in the game. I am meant to try and pile up as many precision points as I can.
Luckily right now I actually want to do these things which is good. Will I still want to do them after I beat the game? Not sure. Time will tell. Right now I'm having a blast though.

@aljoriz Ah that makes a lot of sense. Thanks for clearing that up for me. I heard VVVVVV had some bugs at the start. I have the game now and I love it but I was surprised that they released a game that was technically not complete.
Dunno about Cave Story as it hasn't arrived here in Europe yet.

wuuds commented on Talking Point: Nintendo's Focus on the 3DS eShop:
great write-up!
I loved the whole presentation and the fact that it seems Nintendo really wants to make us the fans happy. So many great games coming to the eshop. I've never used this feature before and i have to say that i love it's convenience.
One little complaint I have is that the obvious miss-step by Nintendo isn't addressed anywhere in the article. Digital downloads are awesome to be sure. Why though are the retail games cheaper in the shops than they are on the eshop?
I mean why should I get a digital download if I can get the physical game with artwork, manual etc etc?

@Bluezealand thanks for the heads-up!!
but you have to connect your Nintendo account to your 3DS somehow?
i don't think we have a club Nintendo here in Norway so i'm not sure how that works. will figure it out though.

ah well i see that SML3D is about €14 cheaper on the downloads than it is in the shops here. i kinda like boxes, covers and cartridges though
but i also love buying downloads like Pullblox and Mighty Switch Force. ah damnit it's a catch 22 i tell ya.
what happens if your SD card somehow corrupts? does that mean you lose your purchases? would you have to buy them all over again??

ah you guys are lucky.. Star Fox and OoT have only just dropped to € 40 here in Norway (they were € 60.. in fact Resident Evil and SML3D still are
)
not as big a difference here then but they are still cheaper in physical game shops.
as for everyone hating on Aero Porter... it's Yoot Saito! the man is a legend. i will be trying that out for sure.

wuuds commented on Game Boy Advance Games Pop Up On Nintendo Euro...:
@Tsuchinoko look i already said i might have jumped the gun on the 3DS prices thing. that should be enough.
if games are priced around 700-800 as you say then i'll jump right on it. but we'll see. staying cautiously optimistic. i'm already a little bummed out that out of this possible list of GBA titles there's only really one that everyone wants. why not open up with a host of titles that everyone and Nintendo knows the the fans really want? it's a mystery to me
#45
wuuds commented on Game Boy Advance Games Pop Up On Nintendo Euro...:
@Tsuchinoko You think what i said is that unreasonable? and i didn't say 'same price' i said 'almost 3DS prices'. i just can't see them selling a game like Final Fantasy VI for less money than VVVVVV or even Mutant Mudds. Or let's look at the current 'buy in stores' options on the eshop like New Art Academy and Freaky Forms.
Ok so I guess they will be less than a 3DS game like Resident Evil Revelations but i don't eactly think they will be 'cheap'. do you?
(oh and please don't view my comments in the 'every post on the internet is negative and designed for controversy' glasses. i'm just neutrally musing
no malicious intent. promise.)
#46
wuuds commented on Game Boy Advance Games Pop Up On Nintendo Euro...:
hmm.. i just realised that nintendo will probably ask full price for these if they do start making them available. if that's the case then i dunno... i might just pick them up used on the net then. can i justify paying almost 3DS prices for a GBA game?
not sure if i can lie to myself like that anymore
#47
wuuds commented on Game Boy Advance Games Pop Up On Nintendo Euro...:
oh please please please let this be true.. GBA games would seriously push eshop sales up like a rocket. and there are so many great titles they could choose from!
on the wishlist:
mother 3 (hope never dies!!!!!)
metroid series
astro boy omega factor
gunstar super heroes
shining soul II
riviera the promised land
yggdra union
final fantasy VI
and so many more!!!!!
but yes if it is true then i'll be grabbing mario & luigi superstar saga straight off the bat!
