wariosmith commented on Luigi's Mansion 2 Spooks Its Way Into UK Top Ten:
I'm loving Lego City apart from the load times... geeeeeees from turning the WiiU on to actually playing is 5+ mins. NLife - any rumours of a upcoming patch for the game to help load times??

wariosmith commented on Talking Point: The Download or Disc Dilemma:
I took the 'entry level' way into Wii U and got the basic package... 'saving' me money? but no Nintendo Network Premium and just shelled out for an external HDD... that will teach me.
I live in a village... no cable broadband here... downloading The Cave took the best part of an evening. I'm happy to download small indie games etc or VC, but retail games, not a chance - 19GB for Lego City!!!! nah, pre ordered and i get a free lego toy (give to my son, to placate the wife)... oh and physical is cheaper, and once i'm finished I can trade it in and buy another game.

wariosmith commented on Nintendo UK Promises to Meet Retailers, Share ...:
Nintendo UK have an uphill battle - and this is from a Nintendo fan / Wii U owner [that I got cheap from a liquidation sale... shows the state of retailers]
No advertising in stores on the high street, no word of mouth, not made it into supermarkets where the Wii / DS is still on the shelves. There is only one shop in my town that sells a few Wii U games, but no display model to trial things (though they have a 3DS stand...)
come on Nintendo its not going to happen by magic! I remember the Wii launch period - you couldn't move for demos in shops / shopping centres.
Games on their own won't matter... unless people outside of the already aware/owners get to hear about them / try them.
If i have to tell another person that the Wii U is not just a new controller for the Wii... grrr

@Schprocket thanks bud - that was all the encouragement I need. I'll put it down to 'future son's education'
already outted as a geek, so no drama there

wariosmith commented on Review: LEGO City: Undercover (Wii U):
just seen a LEGO City toy set including Chase Figure + police car and Crooks + code to unlock vehicles and secret missions in the Wii U, so LEGO are doing some joined up merchandising... my son isn't old enough for me to justify purchasing the lego set just yet though...

wariosmith commented on UK Retailers Call For Wii U Price Cut And Fres...:
too right Sonic-doom, It took me long enough to realise the U was a whole new console not just a new controller. I've lost count of people saying - 'oh you bought a new controller for your Wii' ... and when I say no, they just ask what's the difference... and apart from Nintendo land... I don't have much to say yet.
Have pre-Ordered Lego City... £45 including gteed delivery on day of release...

wariosmith commented on Guide: Using USB Storage with the Wii U:
might have been asked - tried to trawl through - so apologies if already answered.
If I start out with a small HDD like 250GB, and fill it up... how would I go about moving the files to another HDD, can the Wii U handle two HDD at a time?
If the HDD is formatted only for Wii U use then I couldn't just copy via a PC/Laptop...?

@sun completely agree
loved Mario Golf on gcube / GBA - the link between the games, RPG element on the handheld to level the character up... then stomp on the competitors!

wariosmith commented on Tiger Woods Is Skipping The Wii U This Year:
I've tried to enjoy the the TW on the wii... but found them all - no matter what new claims they have each year - to be not fun. I haven't enjoyed playing TW since the Gamecube.
Now bring on a new version of Wii Sports golf - with the ball view on the gamepad - that would be awesome.
