@WaltzElf: ah, so it's Akihabara and Tokyo you're talking about. Just so you know, your experience there will not equal everyone else's experience in other parts of Japan, and describing Japan as some kind of magical discounted-games place is somewhat misleading; what I described above happened during my trips to Osaka, for example.

If it's really upsetting you, move to Japan where you can easily find top-line, reasonably new release games for between $5 and $15. That's the cheapest region in the world on the whole.

what stores were you shopping at while you were there? or were you hitting bargain bins someplace and didn't quite realize it? i paid full American price (actually, i'd say at least $10-20 more) for the couple of Japanese games i'd bought during the times i was in Japan myself (one was a PSX game, the others were DS games). one i got from a store in a mall, the other from a local game shop, and both weren't just-released games, but they were still in print at the time and they were brand new in their packaging. unless things have drastically changed recently, the Japanese are paying just as much (if not more) than us Americans.

another thing i've just been reminded of, here -- if you land an interview at one place, don't just go into that interview and immediately stop applying. i've known so many people who just interview at one place and then sit by the phone for a week doing nothing, thinking they're gonna be handed the job on a platter, and of course it doesn't work that way, so they've just wasted that week, lol. don't be afraid of ticking off any human resources people you've already talked to, either -- I've been a part of the hiring process at one of my prior jobs, and trust me, we have no problems having people say "sorry, but i've already been hired elsewhere" when we do call-backs... we just cross you off our lists and move on to the next applicant. :3

back to the topic at hand... applying for jobs is always stressful as hell for me. it's easier now with the internet, because half the places you try to apply at (here in the US, at least) will refer you to the online application form and you can do it from the comfort of your own home, but that's kind of a double-edged sword, because you're not getting the chance to actually talk to a person while you're there and maybe make a good first impression that way, and most of the online applications have the same darn personality assessment test, so you'll fill the same thing out like twenty times over in one day... ugh.

the only real advice i can offer is to just keep your chin up. always be as respectful as possible to prospective employers, and do your best to answer questions put to you honestly. when you try to outthink the dudes asking the questions and give them the answers you think they want to hear, chances are you're gonna slip and say something stupid. good luck to you, man.

that works too... any kind of leaderboards allows you to challenge yourself to beat your prior score, y'know?

pretty much this. it'll probably be cheaper for you to pay the repair fee if your DSi dies and get a replacement that way, but otherwise there have been tales of Nintendo having you send both the busted console and the working replacement you've bought for it and they'll transfer your Shop information over to the new console for you. you'll have to call their Support line and work it out through them.
