@JohnWalrus: a remake of SMB3 would've been far preferable to NSMBW. i think the term you're looking for is 'spiritual sequel', really -- there's a hint of SMB3 in there, sure, but just not enough for it to be considered a remake, y'know? that would be more in line with your 'spiritual predecessor' analogy. :3

@Mickeymac: ha, I want the exact opposite -- I want a return to the days of old, with no dumb special coins or stars to collect in order to unlock the entire final level (which is absolute BS IMO). secret paths are fine, but shouldn't be necessary in order to progress through the worlds in numerical order, and powerups should be limited to the classics (mushroom, fire flower, 1up; that's all i need). That's what I want.

Well for me Super Mario Galaxy 2 wouldn't be a 10 without that last star. So I think playing through the entire game as opposed to just most of it or some it could affect someone's review. It's the most fair way, but also kinda impractical.

it's incredibly impractical, considering it may take one reviewer a month to complete a game (as opposed to just getting through it or getting as far as they feel is necessary to do it justice) so they can review it, and in the meantime people are screaming for their review now-now-now. it's a real catch-22. getting through most of the game (or at least beating it) as opposed to completing it and finding every last thing that could possibly have bumped the score higher is pretty much the most i'd expect from a competent reviewer.

It's Mario dude... What do you want? A Metal Gear Solid quality storyline where Luigi is actually made up of Mario's genetics to actually kill Mario because DK is actually a secret scientist in the plains of Africa and towards the end of the assigned Luigi, he gets hit on the head and forgets everything, and is thus scared of everything? No. (But yes I just pulled that out my you know where.)

My god, you guys really seem to hate Twilight Princess and SSBB, don't you?

I, however, am sticking up for both games, because they are NOT overrated and among the best games on the Wii. Just because Twilight Princess isn't as fresh as OoT does not mean it sucks. Have you played Phantom Hourglass (I know it says overrated Wii games, but still...)? THAT was very unimpressive, and to me, it was pretty frustrating in some parts. Except for the CDi ones (which you've obviously never heard of if you claim that TP is the worst), PH is the worst Zelda game. Twilight Princess had a fantastic, gripping story, complete with gameplay that held up incredibly well (though similar to previous Zeldas), a phenomenal soundtrack, very fun boss battles, and gorgeous graphics (which could have been better given that some of the environments looked colorless).

And as for Brawl. You've obviously never played it on multiplayer if SSBB is overrated. Brawl + multiplayer (online or local) = nonstop fun. It is every bit as good a fighting game as Melee was, and had better features (Stage Builder is my dream come true, but the Coin Launcher? Spare me, please), better characters (and character balance), and better items (The Smash ball really makes the outcome unpredictable). If you're complaining because it didn't deliver its promises, then it's your fault for letting hype get the better of you.

Given that most people on the internet think you're an idiot if you don't like the exact same things they like, I'm sure this post will be followed by a train of flaming. You can verbally rip me to shreds for having different taste than you if you feel like it. I do not care.

TP made my wrists hurt like you would not believe with all the waggling you had to do to fight, and it took me forever to pick up on the shield thrust move which was necessary to get past a few of the bosses. it was way too easy to get through and find everything, and the final battle was a joke. Phantom Hourglass was way more fun for me personally; i fell in love with the characters, the Temple of the Ocean King was a lot of fun IMO, and i never really felt frustrated except for when my hand would cramp because i'd been playing for a few hours and i was forced to take a break, lol. plus, the final battle was more challenging than TP's, which is kinda sad if you think about it. :3

Just because we don't agree doesn't mean anyone here will flame you, though, man. you're certainly welcome to your opinion, and I don't consider you an idiot for feeling the way you do about TP. we just obviously have different tastes in games, which is whatev'.
