@Relevant Latty: to be fair, you can find a lot of good stuff on eBay for far cheaper than you can on Amazon, and if you're smart about things (ask the seller questions, look closely at images, don't buy from sellers with low ratings, avoid Hong Kong users like the plague, use PayPal for their buyer protection, etc. and so forth), you'll be all right.

And this is why there can be no consensus on this topic. All sites are catering to slightly different audiences. I have a Wii and a DS, and I'm not in the market for another system. NLife is great because it compares games within the context of other Nintendo games, so I can best choose what to play. I don't care how they stack up next to PS360 games. On the other hand, if I had a PS3 or Xbox too, I wouldn't care how good a game was compared only to other Nintendo games. I would be interested in what the best games amongst all three consoles were, so I could spend my gaming budget wisely. In that case, I'd probably spend a lot more time at IGN or Gamespot which use similar metrics to review games by all 3 systems. Different strokes for different folks.

this. if i cared about other systems, i might give more weight to what IGN or GameSpot has to say about Wii/DS games, but many times they put the games I'm interested up against Xbox/PS3 games, which i'm just not interested in. one person's 'most accurate' is another person's 'wtf are you talking about', lol. there can be no one set way to review things "accurately", because too many people are looking for too many different things out of a review.

was that the level where you had to be tiny Mario to get one of the stars (had to go down this little pipe with enemies jumping all over the place through the rest of the level)? if so, effing signed... that one took me forever D:

That was the jungle level covered with Nibbler Plants incased in ice. There were Venus Fire Traps and Fire Bros. that would melt the ice, unleashing the annoying power of the Nibblers. Also, there were Goombas that were covered in spiky plants that were irritating too, almost resembling a certain enemy from Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga. The level didn't require a Mini Mushroom for 100% completion, but it was hard as heck!

hahaha wait, i was having a bad eye morning and totally missed the 'Wii' and '9' parts of that. i thought we were talking about NSMB and what i think was 8-8 (now that i look at an FAQ, anyway). it took me forever to get all the star coins in that level, stupid mini mario D:

in terms of those of us who may only own one current-gen console, though, and who have no plans or financial ability to purchase another, I know I don't want to hear how much better a game is on (insert other console here), because I don't give a rat's behind. it's not necessary for me to know how it stacks up to every other game for every current-gen console on the face of the planet. i just need to know how it stacks up to the current library of games for the console I own.

(a) I have indeed purchased many things off Amazon, and one of my two jobs is retail, so yes, I do believe I have heard of both Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Also, Christmas is that one holiday we get all kinds of presents, right? or is it the one where the bunny rabbit craps chocolate eggs for everyone? I always get those two mixed up.
(b) that's nice.

anyway, what I had been referring to in my original comment was the fact that it took years before Twilight Princess dropped below $40 at retail, even used... first-party IP games tend to stay at their original prices for far longer than third-party ones. the thought of it going on sale so quickly had honestly not crossed my mind, and i honestly doubt the game itself will go on sale, though you may wind up with extra coupons/percents off/whatev' from Amazon, so who knows what'll go down in November. I also had no way of knowing how much store credit/gift card(s)/birthday money/etc. you had at your disposal. I had only been thinking of full retail price.

idk, i usually hang around Metacritic for a reason -- i prefer having lots of opinions to go by instead of just one or two. i will say that most of Nintendo Life's reviews have been pretty spot-on IMO, except maybe one or two I mildly disagreed with and one in particular that still pisses me off to all hell because it led me to purchase the one game i absolutely can. not. stand.

@Kaiser: you have a lot of unused space, though; there's plenty of room for the words/word bubbles to be proportionally larger. I wouldn't make the font size any smaller than that used in the first panel with the lizard guy if I were you. the proportions in that panel aren't bad... in fact, it's the most readable panel out of the lot with the lack of background and relatively clearer focus on the two characters involved.

are you people seriously arguing over the score before it's even been released? wtf

lol, i thought that was a haunted carrot in the last panel until i finally read the descriptions. the underlying art is not bad, but with the sketchy style it's hard to see exactly what's going on at first glance. The fonts are also far too small... you want both the art and the words to be completely readable the first time someone looks at it, because there's a good chance they'll only look at it once and then dismiss it entirely if they can't make heads or tails of it on their own.
