@grumblegrumble: again, I only know of one person who has been 'publicly called out', and it's been for the reasons outlined in my prior reply. we don't call people out or scold them for duplicate posts, we just link them to the discussion in progress and lock the dupe. no harm, no foul.

that said, the bottom line is that it's in the works. please bear with us. :3

@Adam: i'm cool with the law prohibiting my (eventual) kid from attempting to run around behind my back and purchase an M-rated game, but me walking into a store and wanting to purchase an M-rated game for my kid, even after being warned by the clerk that the game may contain violence, sex, and/or drug usage, I don't want that to be against the law (which is what I think Waltz is attempting to argue, if i'm reading him correctly). it's the same as taking my kid to see an R-rated movie IMO (or the same kid attempting to purchase an R-rated movie behind my back); while I appreciate Big Government's concern, and i'd be happy if they wanted to card any unaccompanied minors, it's my call as to whether or not I think they can handle what's going on in it if i am right there with them, and I'll be the one to explain things if they have any questions afterward.

@shpydar: ah, my mistake then -- i thought the ratings were legally enforceable; we used to see security/police escorting kids out of the movie theater all the time back when i was a young mall-rat, lol, and they were always super-d-baggish about requiring ID if you looked the slightest bit underage. didn't understand why they'd cover their a**es like that if there wouldn't be a fine involved. the rest of my comment still stands, however. :3

"At least not in the US" is the operative phrase, here -- Waltz is in Australia, where 'R' rated movies are 18+ only. it'd be like attempting to escort your kid into an NC-17 or X-rated flick here in the states, a fine would definitely be laid down, lol.

@mnementh: why would Nintendo not want to stop a competitor from selling a similar product? especially since, if it really is such a blatant infringement on their own technology and patents, by doing nothing they risk losing all right to similar prosecution against other infringing companies.

No need to be rude, especially when you're wrong -- the audiobooks would be MP3 files on your computer, which would be there converted to aac format (thus the 'iTunes' part of labrat7's reply), and then you'd put them on an SD card. pop the SD card into your DSi and you're good to go -- you can hold plenty of audiobooks on a large SD card, i'd wager.

yes.

... but no, seriously... wtf Capcom, why can't we have Apollo Justice 2 instead? did Investigations really sell well enough to warrant a sequel? unless it's got an amazing plot and some bomb new characters (sweet christ, how many jobs have Oldbag and Butz had???), i can't see myself purchasing this game.

in fact, I can say for absolute certainty that this is going to be the first AA game since the first that I will not be pre-ordering, and good luck to whomever's gonna take on that review. :|

I wouldn't want my kid playing through the "No Russian" level of Modern Warfare 2, but then again, I played endless amounts of Mortal Kombat, the original GTA, Goldeneye, and any other violent games I could get my hands on as a kid. I think the important thing is to NOT PUT THE VIOLENT GAMES ON A PEDESTAL. Telling you're kids, "you can't play those games because you're not old enough" is just ensuring that they'll find a way to play them.

So we should also do away with the age of consent and age limits for driving, drinking and smoking, because that's putting all those things on a pedestal?

I read that as 'don't just tell them 'you can't because you're not old enough, give them reasonable-sounding reasons' -- like 'sorry honey, but you're just not big enough to reach the pedals and the steering wheel at the same time', y'know? or 'but, sweetheart, you don't want to pickle your liver or turn your lungs black, do you?', lol.
