The latest Nintendo DS game I played that was somewhat disappointing is Contact. It's really bland and the story was just not interesting at all, although I admit that I did had a few hours that I was actually enjoying it, so it's not completely rubbish.

the latter part of your statement is why i didn't list Contact myself. i did like it for a little while, and i enjoyed the 4th-wall-breaking and LiveJournal-themed instruction booklet that was going on, but the closer i got to the end the more chore-like it became. wound up trading it in, myself.

Well, that's only 30 cents per level. Doesn't seem too bad considering the replayability.

What is the replayability once you complete a level?

lol, this -- i might go back in if i'm feeling masochistic one day, but not right now... and certainly not Betamax anytime soon :3

took me an hour and a half, but i've beaten all the levels. holy hell Betamax was the absolute worst, but i somehow managed to beat it with 22500 points left (how the eff did i manage that, hahaha), and Spnt was also pretty crazy, but it wasn't a bad game for 500 points. definitely brutal, kinda wish there were more levels though.

@Token: the 'secure code' thing he's talking about is different -- it's something that works through participating online sellers that helps to make your transactions more secure, an additional verification popup that comes straight form MasterCard and is not shared with the retailer at all. i don't have a MC myself, so idk if the Wii Shop is set up to use the secure code thing or not. the bank he gets his card through probably had no idea what he was attempting to access, just that he was trying to buy something online, so they set him up with that hoping that it would help him out.

here's what Nintendo has to say about it. basically it says if you're running System Menu 4.0, your Wii console is compatible with SDHC Cards up to 32 GB. SDHC Cards with a capacity higher than 32 GB won't work.

Yoshi's Island DS -- coming from the awesomeness that was the SNES game, this was just crap IMO. it felt gimmicky as hell, shooting eggs with any kind of accuracy was impossible; i traded it back in quickly lol
Kirby's Canvas Curse -- it was too easy, felt like another cheap gimmick just to get people using the touchscreen. no thanks.
Scribblenauts -- thankfully a friend let me borrow it instead of me paying for it, because i was not impressed at all. :(

@Tech101: lol, what if he were to get mugged on the way to the store or something? which option is safer now? :3 another point is that you can't purchase points cards for less than 2000 points, unlike getting them through the Shop (i usually wind up buying my points by the 1000 myself, only what i need for the next game i want, y'know?)

@JumpMad: another thing to consider is that your credit-card company could've put a hold on your account because they need to get in touch with you about something. lol, my bank did that to me one time because I'd bought gas at the same gas station twice in one day (once in the morning before work, and then once later that day when my husband drove us to the store or something); i missed the letter they'd sent me via snail-mail and hadn't logged into my account online in a week because I hadn't needed to check my balance, so I didn't know what was going on when all of a sudden my purchases with it were being declined.
PROTIP: never put your card into an ATM machine if it's being mysteriously declined -- you won't get it back :(

not really... consider the example of the PS2. with the 3DS able to play DS games, there's no telling how long they'll keep making them after the 3DS hits.

you're gonna want to be careful getting that information off of websites -- make sure it's for the PAL version and not NA or JP. it's the last letter that's different, and sometimes that letter changes even depending which part of said region you're in. SKTTR's probably given you a goldmine right there since you're both from Germany. :3

that said, the first website you linked to is working fine at the moment...? what titles did you still need info for?

A popular Delete All Data code (and, I believe, the standard now for DSiWare games) is holding A+B+X+Y+L+R on start-up, but it varies from game to game. Some don't have one at all, so you'll just have to overwrite a previous save.

even if it doesn't have that as a DFE code, it'll still give you the option to delete save data somewhere in the options or on the save select screen. i don't think i've ever seen a game that didn't have that option somehow, whether via button code or on-screen menu, lol :3

agreed. just like books, TV, and movies, games can also give you a taste of things you haven't done before or won't be able to experience in our lifetime. they're no substitute for the real thing, but there's nothing wrong with devs attempting to give as realistic an experience as possible.

that said, the OP has his answer, and a suggestion for a game that is appropriate for his 6-year-old, so it's time to put this one to bed. :3
