We're honestly not complaining just to complain. I'm not that kind of guy, and as someone who absolutely adores Cave Story, I want to like this game. I see potential, but I don't see anything that should/reasonably could be released to the public by June.

and again, i'd be genuinely surprised to see this game hit before next June, much less within this year's launch window, haha. there's all kinds of stuff that could go down within that timeframe. still gonna give 'em the benefit of the doubt. :3

also, Corbie informed us in chat this morning that Tyrone told him those screenshots were from a couple months ago. take that as you will.

i agree with this -- you're getting too in-depth. it might not be wholly correct, but if you're talking 2D shapes, the teardrop fits the general 'one corner, one side' description (if you ignore Chicken Brutus' suggestion of inside and outside, lol) :3

what's the matter with those screenshots? a shader or two or an added texture is all they'd need to pop, and remember -- a 2D shot of a 3D anything is going to miss one whole dimension of visual information. i'm starting to think you guys are complaining just for the sake of complaining on this one.

Fair point, but I'm not sure why they'd be releasing screen shots if they weren't at least somewhat happy with them.

i was thinking that perhaps they're trying to show that the game is actually being worked on, and those screenshots are kinda where it stands so far. i keep thinking back to WindWaker and the in-progress shots that showed up before they finalized the style they wound up using. i can't speak for the devs, though, and idk what kind of PR department troubles they may or may not be having at the moment, so we don't know what the deal is for sure, i guess.

meh, it's been almost a year. depending on the thread (and the OP) in question, a year is about where i draw the line with regards to turning a blind eye to a dupe thread. can't wait for the eventual NL forum upgrade, hopefully complete with merge function.

that said, it took me nearly a decade to finally sit through The Rocky Horror Picture Show without falling asleep halfway into it (usually i'd conk out after the 'touch me' song). it's not that it's a bad movie -- it's certainly a cult classic for a reason -- but my mistake was always trying to watch it alone. it took a movie marathon at a friend's house with eight or nine other people yelling stuff at the screen to keep me awake through it, haha. it's a helluva good time with friends around :3

as for seriously bad movies, though... The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy was horrible. I swear to god i fell asleep in the theater and completely missed the second half of the movie. wound up reading the book afterward, and it was much more interesting.

on Club Nintendo they also show Mario in a standing pose (it's on the main page, when the bags are shown in the banner up top), so that's probably the third. the bag i got (which is fabulous, btw) also has Mario in the jumping pose.

check into making your CN account a 'family' account. if you've got a family account, you can link up to eight usernames together (one administrator account and seven family-member accounts), and that way you can register the additional DSi under one of the other usernames and still get the points for it. you might have to contact them to make the change for you if you can't do it yourself; tell 'em you recently got married or something and bought your new spouse a console as a wedding gift ;)

according to what's been said already, only games with full analog movement controls (e.g. you would be using the touchscreen to direct your little dude and he'd follow your stylus everywhere you pointed it without fail and without automatically falling into one of the 8 directions) would be able to take advantage of the circle pad. anything else will be stuck with their normal four or eight directions. it would probably be a hassle in terms of games requiring precise control because you might think you're hitting one direction when you're actually off by a fair amount and the game registers another direction because of that, haha.

anyway, the only game i can think of off the top of my head that would really be aided by the circle pad would be SM64DS. i'll probably wind up giving that a shot whenever i manage to scrounge up the funds for a 3DS of my own. :3
