If the box and cartridge don't match, you have a problem. Nintendo has contact information listed on their anti-piracy site here; the contact info is for NA, but that's their only anti-piracy site (or at least i can't find one for AUS). you can at least fire off an e-mail and they can either help you themselves or get you in touch with someone who can answer your questions... i'm sure they'd be able to talk to you about any suspect NA game(s) you've purchased. You can also report the store that sold you the counterfeit/s (if they do indeed turn out to be counterfeit) when you contact them.

that said, i've purchased a counterfeit game on accident before (this was years ago by now, i hadn't even realized they were counterfeiting them at the time :(), and for me, the biggest key was the errors in the booklet. the fonts for the warnings in the front and back of it were similar but not quite the same as all my other booklets (and Nintendo always puts the exact same stuff in those warnings, you can seriously hold two booklets up to each other and they should be identical), and there were spelling/grammar errors all throughout the warnings as well.

the stylus alone won't scratch the screen easily, but over time the nib may become worn or deformed, or if there's dirt/dust on the screen it picks up, you never know. there are also certain games [read: Elite Beat Agents] that have more intense stylus-moving actions than others, so your mileage may vary. i know i wrecked my touchscreen's screen protector with EBA; i'd'a hated to see my touchscreen had i not had the protector on it.

bottom line, though, is that this is what screen protectors are for. if you're that worried, they're readily available at almost any retailer that sells DS systems, or even over the internet.

who said we would only wait six months?

@Tj92: unfortunately, that's not true — if they can't replicate or repair the problem, there's a chance they'll just send out a new one linked to Pyrokai's DSi Shop information. that's what happened to me, anyway. I remember specifically being told over the phone while setting up the repair order that I would need to back up all my games, pictures, etc. onto an SD card. the only thing that really sucks is that you can't transfer any DSi Sound stuff to SD.

edit: actually, i totally just checked on a hunch, and sure enough all the crap i'd recorded back when i first got my DSi is still there! haha, Nintendo was apparently able to copy that over for me. awesome! i'm not saying they'll definitely be able to do it for you too, but there's precedent now :D :D :D

@Pyrokai: if they do replace your DSi, don't panic! Just go into the DSi Shop, redownload all your games, and once they've been redownloaded to your system you'll be able to copy your backed up save information and stuff from your SD card again no problem. :3

if you're interested, though, you might want to try keeping yourself to only four sun/moon cards anyway, if possible, just to test the 'hard time limit' theory (since it doesn't seem to be definitively confirmed on the internet, not from all the searching i've done this morning, lol).

by that 'if you take too long you'll get the bad ending', i think they're attempting to allude to what i just described without spoiling it to people playing through it for the first time. i read through all the FAQs GFs has available, none of them mention a hard time-limit.

@Faron: apparently if you 'take too long' (e.g. use too many of the cards), someone else winds up reaching Dracula before you and ends up turned into a mini-boss for you to fight. if you have to fight him, you're getting the bad ending.

Well since this is a thread about the subject, according to a Best Buy employee, the 3DS costs a whopping total of $9,999 in the store's computer until March 27th. This is so just in case Nintendo raises the price before launch, there would be no possible way they could under charge for the system. (I don't get it either) However, he then told me if a Best Buy broke the Street Date and sold the 3DS before the 27th it would cost $9,999. So if you see a 3DS being sold at Best Buy earlier, good luck affording it.

hahahahaha nice!

personally, i'm surprised they have the UPC in their system already, though... some stores won't have the item in the system at all until the release date (they won't be able to ring it up for you at all, therefore they can't sell it). :3

@Link79: as explained above, it has to do with it being fair for all retailers involved. If people are waiting in line for a midnight release for (insert game here) but hear that a store down the street is already selling it at 8pm, they're gonna head for that other store en masse and purchase the game there... that means lost sales for the store(s) who are adhering to the release date set by the publisher (or whatev').
