on the rare occasion i actually get to go to an arcade, i go specifically for those kinds of games — the ones with the big cabinets, giant screens, and anything else i can't replicate at home, so i can't say that i'm 'fed up' with the types of games they've currently got on offer, no. anything else i've either already got or i can get my hands on easily and play from the comfort of my favorite chair.

the brightness of the 3DS screen is indeed set to full by default. i find it easier to see the 3D if it's turned down about halfway (or it's easier on my eyes, anyway). tap the little sun icon in the upper left-hand corner of the Home screen to change your brightness setting.

@Odd69: Legend of Mana is different from other games in the Mana series... it's not really a linear RPG, as the way you get through it is by creating your own playing field (you find artifacts that you plant on the field which spawn new areas to explore and stuff). Some of the artifacts/areas must be found and explored in order to beat the game, and if you only do those parts, you can beat it fairly quickly. If your goal is to complete the game, though, there's a buttload of possible sidequests to do that flesh out the stories of characters you meet and make beating the game a richer experience overall. I adore Legend of Mana, but if you're not into sidequests and story arcs that don't really focus on your silent protagonist of choice, you'll probably be disappointed.

if you do buy this game and plan on completing it, don't be afraid to consult a guide — some areas can only grow if artifacts have been planted in a certain configuration. be careful :3

it's not so much 'brain food' as 'junk food'. Please don't advise people to take their consoles apart, geek-master, especially not when the problem (the fuzziness/washed out-ness of DS titles played on the 3DS) is an unavoidable issue and the 'solution' you've provided is absolute bull. thank you in advance.

@Stereoman: that was the point — he had been answering my question, and i'd made a mistake in said question. whether or not he bought a DSi was not what i originally wanted to know, and honestly i think the DSi has nothing to do with what he's talking about now. with the DSi, almost everything was available either at launch or very soon after, not months after (as in the case of the 3DS).

@Starlight: how is 'DS3' any more original than 3DS? lol, it's worse IMO because it doesn't even get to play off'a the '3D' gimmick. it's still a dual-screened system, and i figure simple is best when naming handhelds anyway.
