Re: 2012: Year of the RPG

theblackdragon

@Waltz: he doesn't like some RPGs because of their use of magic, and then he's got his own reasons for disliking magic in general. if they used technology instead of magic, he'd probably like them. he was asked why he dislikes magic, and was kind enough to explain his feelings.

I don't like some types of sandwiches because of their use of mayonnaise; if the mayo isn't present, I'd probably like them. If asked, I'd explain that I think mayo smells absolutely foul, and that's why I dislike it. You may find my rationale to be odd as well, but whether you find a good egg salad sandwich to be the most divine foodstuff ever or not, that won't change my mind, nor should it open me up to being picked apart over it. it is what it is.

Re: 2012: Year of the RPG

theblackdragon

@Waltz: He kinda has a point, though, at least to me — i think it'd be neat to see some more RPGs based in reality/possible realities (or things that can be explained via quick-and-dirty pseudosciences) instead of the same-old magic, magic, magic. I know RPGs began with fantasy as opposed to science fiction, but that doesn't mean they can't be an RPG without using magic somehow. either way, he's got his personal tastes in terms of story and setting, and he's entitled to them. :3

as for what i'm looking forward to, Paper Mario 3D and Heroes of Ruin (though the latter mainly out of curiosity; i may change my mind as it nears release). Still kinda waffling about SMT:DS2, Pokemon bores me. I'd probably be all about KH:DDD (due to the TWEWY characters showing up) if it wasn't for the fact that i've never played any of the other games before :3

Re: TV SHOWS: Friday Night Lights

theblackdragon

we watched FNL in the shop last year. It was a pretty good show, but nothing I would've actually watched while it was on TV. I think i'd go crazy if i lived in a town that obsessed with football, lol.

Re: Locked Forums

theblackdragon

Yes, yes, and yes, really. If a topic is inappropriate, totally pointless (a false rumor, for example, or an April Fool's joke in December), or if the discussion has descended into bickering or tail-chasing, we'll usually go ahead and lock it. That said, most locked topics happen because the thread is a duplicate of an existing thread. We don't have a merge function here (yet), so in order to keep discussions together instead of splintered across sixteen different threads, we lock duplicates and redirect users to where the topic can be discussed. That said, we make sure the final comment on a given topic explains what's happened when it comes to the locking of a topic — whether it's from us or from another user who happened to state the situation quite succinctly.

As always, if you ever have any questions about why a particular topic of yours was locked, we invite you to use the Contact Form to get in touch. Thank you! :3

Re: Let's do the hot seat. Candidate #18: y u so ugly, blink83?

theblackdragon

all right, so in a twisted turn of events, blink83 just self-banned. pik, you'll need to pick someone else, i'm afraid.

Re: The Complete and Utter Boredom Thread

theblackdragon

If you want to 'remove boredom', try doing something else for a while — play some video games, read a book, or heck, get up and go outside for a while. No sense F5ing obsessively for naught! :3

Re: Kid Icarus Uprising Weapons

theblackdragon

Could you all knock it the hell off? I actually find that quite offensive. To be honest, having a thread solely devoted to how to forge weapons is probably a good idea, that way people can come directly here to get help and leave the main thread for mostly discussing story and other possibly spoiler-y game progression. And I'm not rolling it over into the SpotPass Weapons thread because that's something else entirely. Chill out and use this thread as it's intended, please >:[
