Also, why are you asking us?

Ask the other groomsmen. They (and you) know the groom much better than people on the internet will.

This is a good point. Why ask us? If you don't know him well enough to be able to put together a bachelor party he'll be pleased with, why did he appoint you his best man in the first place? No offense or anything, but you'd think a guy would choose someone who knew him inside and out to be his best man. :/

How about treating it like an expensive piece of technology? That sort of common sense usually helps me keep my stuff in working order. I'm sure it'll work for you, too, if you just give it a shot. Good luck!

Re: Should the 3DS have an account system?

theblackdragon

@BlackFira: I'm not quite sure where we disconnected, and I'm sorry about the confusion, but I was talking about how it stands right now, not how a potential account-based system would work for the 3DS and/or Wii U. As it stands right now, if you have a 3DS and have purchased a game via the eShop, you have an eShop account attached to your console. That eShop account that is tied to your 3DS has a limit of five transfers, and no more.

Say your parents buy you a new 3DS XL and they want you to give your original 3DS to your little sibling. You perform a system transfer from the original 3DS to your new 3DS XL. Your eShop account is now linked to the XL and has a limit of four transfers remaining. Your little sibling's 3DS is now completely blank, and they purchase a new game from the eShop. Now the new eShop account on that original 3DS has a transfer limit of five.

Your sibling winds up with a few eShop games of their own, but then they lose their 3DS and somehow never miss it at all. Months later, you find it and realize your sibling had purchased a few games you hadn't, and they still have points remaining in their eShop account that you could use toward a new game. You decide to system transfer back from the XL to the original 3DS to combine your accounts into one. On the original 3DS, the combined account has three transfers left now, from the four you had before.

Since you can't transfer back to your XL immediately, you wait a week, and then you perform a system transfer again to get everything back on the system you prefer. Your eShop account now has two transfers left.

... and so on, and so on, until you're down to 0 transfers left and are stuck with whatever console you're on for the rest of your eShop account's life. What we're saying in this thread is that Nintendo should have a proper account-based system that doesn't go by an eShop account tied to a specific console, but rather by a username or a code or something that the user can transfer from system to system as many times as they please. You want to buy a new XL and give your old one to your little bro or sis? Just type in a username and password on the new console and bam, you're in business — the old console now reads you as logged out and requires a new account be made or for you to log back in if you want to access the eShop (and any purchased games) again. Your dad accidentally ran over your new XL with a tank? No sweat, he buys you a replacement, you type in your login information and you're good to go — and if save files are saved in a cloud of some sort, you can even start from exactly where you left off. Some dirty thief stole your system and your grandparents took pity on you and bought you a new one? Not a problemo, just log right in and start playing. :3

Re: Should the 3DS have an account system?

theblackdragon

@BlackFira: No, I was serious — Nintendo has stated that the limit for transfers for any one eShop account is 5. You get to transfer your account five times via the System Transfer, and then that's it, you're stuck where you're at. You also won't be able to transfer your eShop account to another system whose transfer limit is already at 0, you would have to delete all eShop activity from that console and lose all purchased licenses before you could perform the system transfer from your console to that one (the limit is on the eShop account; remove the account and the limit on that console is reset).

Re: Should the 3DS have an account system?

theblackdragon

@TheDreamingHawk: You realize you only get 5 3DS system transfers per console, right? You might've had some kind of point had we been given unlimited transfers. Also, i think what rayword45 is talking about with 'what if it breaks and it's out of warranty' is 'what if it breaks and you want to just buy a new system to replace it instead of going through the repair process on the same system to get it working again so that you can then perform a transfer' (and if he wasn't, it's a point i'd like to make). it wouldn't be an issue at all if there was an account-based system.

In all seriousness, why wouldn't it be a good idea for there to be an account-based system in place? You haven't really elaborated on that part.

Re: Should the eShop release WWE All Stars?

theblackdragon

'should'? that'd be up to the publishers. if they want to see it happen as an eShop release as well as retail, i don't see why it would be in Nintendo's interests to refuse them. idk what kind of costs go into that sort of thing, though; that might be what stops them from doing it.

Re: User titles?

theblackdragon

We've seen this kind of suggestion pop up before, DeathAngel, and the general consensus is that user titles based on post count or visible post counts merely encourage users to post spam-like comments or nonsensical silliness for the purpose of garnering a better 'rank' or higher post count as opposed to constructive contributions to discussions here at Nintendo Life.

Push Square and KINECTaku do have a non-post-count-related 'title' for users who participate on the forums there, but we admins have to go in and edit them for users. I wouldn't mind if there was a set group of 'titles' that users can choose from themselves (DeviantART uses a system like that iirc), but linking it to post count is not something we're likely to see happen here.

Re: Can't connect to the internet on Pokemon Black

theblackdragon

The only way to connect a DS to the internet without having a WEP connection is to use the Nintendo WFC dongle. You can pick them up pretty cheap on eBay last I knew. it bypasses the need to have a Wi-Fi connection set up on your DS by having you connect through your computer instead. Nintendo has drivers available up through Windows Vista, but if you're running anything else you'll need to look around on the internet to get it to work for you. Good luck!

Re: Today's Modern Music Condition

theblackdragon

@lz: i took it straight from what that user posted, lol. You missed the 'then', btw (should be 'than' in that instance), so does that mean I get to average out to a C? :3

That said, I was trying to show how these sorts of complaints look in general to someone who's heard it all before (sorry to have singled you out as an example, Cr1TiKal, but the timing was perfect and so was your mini-rant :3). You can apply them to anything and they still look like someone could seriously have said them and meant them whole-heartedly, and they come off as ridiculous after the zillionth time you've heard that sort of complaint, y'know? Life's too short to spend so much time moaning about how music (or anything else) just wasn't what it used to be, and there's so much of it out there that's absolutely wonderful, it makes no sense to not focus on what you do like instead of what you don't. :3
