Re: Ace Attorney Series

theblackdragon

I can't wait to play as Edgeworth. :3 And poor Gumshoe, I hope he gets treated a little better in this one than he does in the first three, lol. It would be nice to see him put forth a testimony that actually stands up in court, for once.

Re: Why did you buy Wii?

theblackdragon

(a) the VC (i grew up with Nintendo games, so I would be able to re-buy some of the ones I'd lost/traded/sold over the years)
(b) I had skipped the prior generation (PS2, GC) so I was ready for a new console (and it was backwards-compatible to boot)
(c) it wasn't 'five-hundred-and-ninety-nine-US-dollars'

Super Mario RPG is my fave, hands down. Much love for that game.

Re: Wii and DSi Linked to Club Nintendo Australia...now what?

theblackdragon

assuming Club Nintendo Australia uses the same rules for surveys/point eligibility as North America (sorry, I've looked at the .au website and I can't seem to find a search or a link to FAQs anywhere; maybe my computer is loading stuff weird tonight?), if you just linked and registered everything, you'll still have to wait 4-6 weeks for your surveys to show up. Eligible VC and wiiware games are only good for post-play surveys.

Re: Helix Sequel: What would you like to see?

theblackdragon

the Audiosurf-style play would be fun, but I'd also like to see the ability to load in custom move-charts via SD as well (like DDR/ITG/SM lets you do).

Re: Whats your favorite Wii RPG

Okami. There were times I wanted to strangle whoever set the sensitivity re: horizontal brushstrokes, but it was a great story and a lot of fun to play.

Sadly, there hasn't been a lot of RPGs on the Wii i've been interested in. I've played Super Paper Mario; it was really too sweet and cloying for a second playthrough to be honest (and I'd rather play SMRPG now that it's out, lol). Twilight Princess, however, was a worthy addition to the Zelda series and it made me immediately buy OoT via Virtual Console afterward (and it looks terrible compared to TP...). I honestly liked Okami better because it was something completely new to me, and it featured a lot of tie-ins to Japanese myths/legends. :3

Re: What wii game could you just plain not get into for whatever reasonn

theblackdragon

Lego Batman. After the fun that was Lego Star Wars (i'd never played any of its prior incarnations, so I loved the complete Wii version), I and some IRL friends were pretty psyched to see they were coming out with a Batman game... but it just wasn't as much fun as the Star Wars one was. I didn't have the same urge to get 100%, and I don't even think I bothered finishing the entire game (I got bored in the middle of the villains' episode 2 or something and never picked it back up).

Blue here. I was glad to see they didn't just use the same dark blue they'd already used for the ds lites. :3

Re: Top 5 Essential Books

theblackdragon

I've only got one that's really 'essential' (everything else is subjective, lol): The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas. You've probably seen one of the movies before, or took a look at Gankutsuou, or maybe you had to read it in English class? Don't let that turn you off of the original novel. After having seen that terrible movie that came out a while back and remembering I'd read two different abridged versions already, I decided to pick up an unabridged copy to see what everyone had really butchered, and I was surprised at all that had been twisted and left out. The man filled the novel with meticulous detail to create an amazing web of character interactions and then manages to tie up every single loose end possible, and as an epic tale of revenge and/or poetic justice (in some spots), it makes for an incredibly satisfying read overall. It's not light reading, but it is definitely worth it.

Re: (WiiWare) Games that you regretted buying

theblackdragon

Definitely agreeing with those who said the aquarium game and LostWinds. The aquarium game looks gorgeous, but I would've been happier if it had a wider array of fish available (or customizable fish colors, at least) so i could mimic tank setups I used to own. As for LostWinds, it has little replay value as-is. I hope they finish it eventually, because that was a promising start.
