your coins are good for two full Nintendo Club years after they're deposited into your account (e.g. if you registered a game in March of this year, they wouldn't be gone until the June 2011 reset). you won't lose them just because your account rolls over, you would have to have not used them in the past two Nintendo Club years, and then they would be gone at the reset.

it actually involves Mario carecters helping to fill a present

i knew they were filling something... it's been a while since i've downloaded anything from the DSi Shop, though. :P

It's weird, though, because it BECOMES a present, but I think she's right that it's initially water. Or something.

Basically the characters walk on a horizontal plane, and pitch the blue circles they carry into the top of the box. The top of the box is parallel to the top of the screen. (The fact that the blue circles they carry seem to liquefy once their tossed into the box is strange in itself, but no matter.)

Anyway, once the box is full of water, it becomes a present...only now the "top" of the box is facing us, holding the DS. Weird. Shouldn't the gift be capped off at the "top" through which the characters were filling it? It's kind of strange.

I mean, it doesn't really matter, but if you're going to bother with some progress animation, it'd be nice for it to at least make some kind of logical sense within itself.

I always thought it was little magic data bubbles of some kind that they were throwing into the box until it was full and at that time it uses the magic data bubbles to matirialize into a present. Just my take on the situation.

I just DLed pictobits yesterday, and I find myself standing by my initial statement -- they look like they're filling a container with round bubbles of water/liquid, and then the container forms a present.

but whatever is officially happening, whether it be magic data bubbles or liquid or whatever else, i got myself an awesome game yesterday. pictobits is so much fun. :D

@Airola: the only way I could beat Cosmic Luigi in the beach/water-race level (and believe me, I tried so hard to beat him the normal way!) was by jumping up onto the right-hand wall edge (it's kinda like a big shell underneath the water, holding it in... it's juuuuuuust wide enough for you to walk on) and running along that to the castle area at the end to get the star. it took two or three tries because I fell off the side, but eventually I made it and got the star.

Cosmic Luigi is just harder to beat overall. He uses long-jumps a lot... would you believe I hadn't used a long-jump at all in the entire game (the entire Mario game, I never had to use it!) until that first cosmic race in Honeyhive Galaxy (or whatever it is with the bee queen)? lucky for me i've played so much Mario 64 that picking it back up was almost instinctive. :3

The main appeal of Pokemon for me is all the fun I had playing it and the friends I made in the process. It came out while I was a sophomore in high school... some of my friends and I would sneak our Game Boys in to school so that we could battle our teams against one another before and after school (while waiting for 7th period or Band practice to start). We'd also play the card game together when it came out too. I used to be involved on an active Pokemon forum back then, too, and I made a lot of friends there (most of us have drifted apart, but there are some I still talk to today).

Come to think of it, that's probably why I don't really like the newer incarnations (anything after G/S) as much as the old ones; it was never really about the actual game itself (which was pretty linear and not really interesting plot-wise), it was about collecting all the Pokemon, battling against my friends, and hanging out on the message boards after school. Color me nostalgic on this one. :)

i've got the survey open in a different tab right now... it looks like they just re-used the same form, is all. i doubt it was intentional... i mean, replace 'Virtual Console' with 'DSiWare' and this weirdness would not exist, lol. :)

I'm noticing other problems/weirdness with this survey anyway... 'please tell us you age'? repeatedly calling it a 'game' when it's not really a game at all? asking us what made us decide on purchasing the browser when it was, in fact, free? i'm not really inclined to read anything else into the wording of this survey. :P

you aren't kidding. it's a good thing I love the heck outta that song they use for those levels/stars, though... it's one of my favorites on the entire OST. :3

and Spring Mario/Luigi... i got alllllll the way up onto the top of that beach level with the purple coins with that freaking thing, I was bouncing around the part with the little hills around the small pool of water, and I thought to myself, 'no, i'll just keep the spring suit on so that I don't have to go back and get it again to get to the very top'... and then the next freaking coin I got, I misjudged my spring and ended up springing my way out into the open air. definitely a very FML moment for me. :(

also, @Adam: i know the bee suit was reused for the purple coin star in the beach galaxy that's a giant circle (there's a couple of races held there, and the prankster comet gives you a cosmic mario/luigi race), there was another galaxy where you had to use either the bee suit or the ghost suit to get through an obstacle course, and I think there was a one-star galaxy that used it, too.

@BellGoRiiing: iTunes is the easiest to use, IMO... i believe it's somewhere in 'preferences' where you can set the file quality you want converted AAC-format files to be created at. Once that's set to whatever you like, highlight in your library what files you want converted, right-click, and 'convert to AAC' is what you want. depending on how many files you're converting at once, it may take a while.

It was a lot of fun, and the soundtrack is amazing, but (like Mario 64) it's going to be a while before I'm in the mood to play through it all over again. Some of those stars (Luigi's Purple Coins, anyone?!) were just freaking painful to get. XP

Wario Stadium was good because you had the chance to jump that wall and blow everyone else away... it wouldn't work half the time, so there was still a chance you'd be able to win the normal way if someone was attempting to cheat that way, hahaha.

MKDS, the Waluigi Pinball and Airship Fortress tracks are really great. I would have to say the only one I'm not terribly thrilled with is the Luigi's Mansion track, mainly because of that swamp you get slowed down in. Tick-Tock Clock is also interesting; the gears can easily knock you out of your racing groove if you're not careful.
