i'm pretty sure my last save for Suikoden Tierkreis was 60 hours on the dot. then again, i spent a lot of time trading to earn money for good equipment and stuff, and also some minor grinding for levels so I could get through some quests. :3 Twilight Princess was a 40-something hour game for me, and i believe my Okami save file was at 66 hours iirc.

and then there's games like Chrono Trigger, where I really don't want to know how long I spent playing it in order to get through every available ending. holy crap. :3

Oh, you don't know the half of it. When that game came out, my little brother was still quite young and he thought the baby was saying "Hi, hi!" to him, so he'd intentionally let the baby Mario float around in the bubble constantly and laugh about it. From that point on, we've always known the game as Hi Hi, so I often forget its real name and think people mean Yoshi Story when they say Yoshi's Island. All day long... hi, hi, hi, hi... It's part of the reason I am how I am today.

vaguely-related anecdote time!

so my little sister, back when she was first learning how to write... it was around xmas, i believe, and she was totally believing in Santa Claus at the time, so they taught her how to write 'ho ho ho'... and she apparently thought that was how you wrote everything -- 'ho ho ho'. she wrote in all the Little Golden Books she had with her crayons and stuff, and all it was was 'ho ho ho ho ho ho ho' over and over again, but if you asked her what she'd written she'd tell you all kinds of whacked-out stories about whatever it was she thought she'd written, lol. we still tease her about that today.

Dance Dance Revolution (and any other Bemani game, for that matter) is pretty brutal without sound (done it before for purposes of screwing around with my friends... yeah, it was hilariously bad, lol). Other than that... i dare say I wouldn't have enjoyed Super Mario Galaxy half as much without sound.

as for games that were noticeably improved by a lack of sound (not that you asked), I would have to put Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island on that list. the Baby Mario wailing really gets on my nerves sometimes. D:

What did I think of it? it was ridiculously easy, to be honest. I think i found a majority of the heart pieces/extra hearts without even bothering with a guide, and the first time I got stuck in a temple to the point of tearing out my hair was in the sky temple (with those freaking mesh egg-looking things you have to hookshot onto and then wear the iron boots to pull them -- or was it just that one? -- down, iirc). it really got me in the mood to play OoT, so much so that I bought OoT for the VC immediately after finishing TP. I didn't like the ending, but that was for personal reasons (won't spoil it, though), and the double-hookshot was seriously the most awesome thing ever and it really needed to happen. Other than that... the story was good, but I haven't replayed it since, unlike OoT, which I've replayed over and over and over and over... :3

oh, and that freaking shield-thrust move was an absolute thorn in my side at first. It took me forever to get to the point where I could do that move without getting myself killed. D: I wish there had been a way to have the player map these moves out for themselves (or to at least calibrate the Wii to pick up on how the player executes the move in question so that it would register properly all the time)... i hope that's something they consider for the next installment in the series.

it won't spoil the game to reveal what the beads unlock -- when you've got them all and have beaten the game, they form a powerful rosary weapon you can use in your next playthrough. It really makes defeating enemies a breeze. :)
